To stop the negativity in the comments, I'm gonna say what you all want to hear. Herta is average at best. But does she deserve her tier in the tier lists? No, and that's my biggest issue. As someone who raised Herta and Serval almost equally (with a slight favor towards Serval), I've never really seen a huge difference between their performance. Especially in MOC. When I need an Erudition that deals Ice damage, I bring Herta and I see no issue with her damage. Likewise, if I need an Erudition that deals Lightning damage, I bring Serval and I see no issue. There's no massive difference between their damage output despite my favor towards Serval. There was a clear favor towards Serval. Another point to raise is that, I played Genshin Impact. In that game, 4* characters would eventually have higher constellations (eidolons) than your 5* characters, unless you are a whale. And 4* characters with high constellations equipped with a 5* rate up weapon becomes extremely strong. I wanted to adapt that playstyle here in HSR because for me, it is more interesting than the usual pull for 5* "crutch" characters. Now, my Herta has more investment than Serval because I wanted to prove that even an average character like Herta could be strong with the right investments.

Imo, its a single player game so. Fuck the tier list, I play herta When I Need ice DMG but I have selee bronya and I just got bailu in a single pull (f2p) My fav is Pela. In genshin I play sucrose dps xD
Seems like people always think tier lists are infailable. Is Herta the best character? No. But all the characters can perform well, given proper gear and investment. Just because Seele and Jing have strong base kits, doesn't make them the only DPS worth using. As long as you can clear MoC 10 3*, it doesn't matter who you use.
At base 0 eidolon power, herta is calced at like 70% serval's power in 3 enemy aoe. While it's true that units get much better with eidolons, remember that Herta is this games free 4 star that gets most of her eidolons for free from SU. She's essentially the Amber of this game unlike the other starter 4 stars. That's why at E6, serval does competitive dmg with JY in aoe while herta does about half of that.
You inspired me a lot in the early days of Genshin, and here I am again, enthusiastic to see what fun you're having with kits that get memed into oblivion. Just the other day I was looking up whether anyone had uploaded Herta runs of MoC and here it is. Thanks for being here Dreamy, this is really refreshing stuff, and it genuinely makes me like the game more to remember approaching it on a floor-to-floor basis with what I have and enjoy using is a fine and enjoyable way to make progress.
I too am a Herta investor. While I'd be all for somes buffs to Erudition in general, she does what she is supposed to pretty well. She clears out large groups of ice weak enemies effectively. She then has the role of a skill point generator with her impressive basic attacks on enemies with less than 50% hp. In which, if ice weak adds are spawned, she can again AoE them down. She's really good at the niche she was designed for. By all means though, I'd welcome buffs to Erudition characters since I do understand why people feel that single target DPS are preferred since the main boss you try to overcome in hard content is more worthwhile to be great against in most people's eyes. Herta isn't quite as bad as many people think though when it comes to what she is designed for.
Genuinely think all characters in this game have places where they shine and can be built by this point, so honestly y'all, just go for whatever you want and try to make it synergize decently and you are set
Loved how March maintained the team even w/o a healer haha. I guess I need to make mine at least 2500 def and 2500 hp. I also wonder if Herta break build via Shooting Meteor set gonna be quicker on cleaning trash mobs haha.
Yea, not many people are noticing this but I don't have a 2nd healer. I still feel that Ice Set is better simply because mobs will be dead regardless of your build on Herta so just try to squeeze as much damage as you can for her single target since that is her biggest downside.
The key here is that march shield herself which makes her more likely to be attacked and is on the edge of the team so that aoe attack only affect 1 char other than march
@@daiwang8111 yeah placing helps too plus E2 March gives slot 1 her early shield. If I do bring sub dps like destruction I put him/her on slot 3 besides March so they can regen their ult faster. Tingyun is also excellent on that spot 😅
Still missing that last eidolon for Herta. Also, Bronya isn't weak to Ice so Herta's damage is cut from 100% to 80%. Meta slaves be like, Seele showcase with S5 Herta Shop LC = Wow, Seele so strong! Jing Yuan showcase with his LC = Wow, Jing Yuan so strong! Herta showcase with Jing Yuan LC = Oh, Jing Yuan LC showcase.
@Laurent Fake news. I feel stupid for believing you when you've always been infamous for such comments. I just searched and the only F2P clear I saw was Marisa's and they were using Lv75-80 for their DPS. Mind you, Lv80 is a MASSIVE investment which is why even if I am able to get my characters to Lv80 since I'm at EQ5, I couldn't, it would just take so much farming. The reason why they leveled their characters beyond Lv70 was to minimize the penalty you get from fighting higher level enemies.
@@Charlett There is also the fact that there's this misconception towards Erudition characters being weak. The combination of splitting their damage for AOE and having horrible options for LCs is what makes them look weak. They are being compared to Hunt characters which is extremely weird. Then there's the 4* LC options, just compare them to Hunt/Destruction 4* LC options, the Erudition LCs are very weak due to the kill condition. Jing Yuan's LC saved Erudition class and it is why it gives the impression that Herta is being carried by that LC.

love this! i loved herta right from the moment i got her and anytime i see a player talk about tier lists and following it like it’s the holy grail (while being assholes towards others who doesnt care about it) i just roll my eyes. people should be allowed to play with who they want as long as they have fun
This is fine but it’s a strange take when people say “I don’t care how much damage a character does or how it performs” yet still farm for relics/artifacts. The nature of the game is to improve your characters to defeat enemies, so that statement just cannot hold true in any circumstance unless you play without relics or raising talent levels. Everyone follows the meta, but not necessarily to the same extent. Any form of improving the efficiency of your team synergy or characters is meta. What wouldn’t be meta is playing without leveling or using relics/artifacts.
@@theflamingassassin7118not really, META stands for Most Effective Tactics Available, meaning the META itself comes from research of most used character for a specific action in the game(i.e MoC in HSR) In my opinion the meta can only be for the light cone or the characters which has a fixed outcome, but for relic you cant really determine it because its not a fixed outcome And for this meta shit you need a fixed outcome. But still, do whatever you like unless its MoC

I often use a level 70 herta as friend support. Makes the runs easy and quick. I would like to build my own herta as well, but with the current limited resources, I have to hold it off until later
I've always been a fan of Herta's character so there were times I've tried to build her before, but I didn't see much result in my investments so I started to doubt it's even worth it. I guess I just didn't invest enough. This video served as inspiration to try again and try harder. Kudos, you have my sub.
Good video dude. There are so many noobs in HSR community who are just making useless tier list(litgh-cone and character) whitout even experimenting stuff . They are ranking her D tier because they think her follow up atk is her main source of dmg but it not the case .the jingyuan light cone help but even w/o I think she will do well.

I do know how valuable Erudition characters can be, Serval and Herta both, whenever an enemy spawns adds all the time, I always wish I have an Erudition character with me. I want to build Herta someday, when she has a rate up banner in the future. Maybe when Jing Liu comes the MoC might favor the ice users, that's where I dish her out. Herta, is a very competent ICE aoe damage dealer. She fills the same roll Serval and Jing Yuan fill, she's just ice. With Ice being fairly prevalent in the current MoC. She is actually QUITE GOOD, right now. With the "breaker" composition gaining traction in the Meta, you will probably see a lot more Herta and Pela. In fact, the combo of these two will probably help you clear the MoC a lot easier. Now, the reason she and others are relegated to the trash tier is most likely because people are judging them on how much investment is needed to make them useful. If you don't have something better, she's a good choice. If you do, you shouldn't waste the PRECIOUS resources. Over time, I bet the hate on her will lessen as people get their main DPS built and start leveling other characters to see if they can make MoC just that tiny bit easier. Looking at the current units available, Herta is the ONLY AoE ice damage dealer who isn't there to debuff the enemy or freeze them. There is no other option for AoE Ice that actually has an AoE skill set. Pela only has an AoE Ult and doing massive damage is not the point of her kit. It's the main point of Herta's kit though and she has the tools to help her do that.

You can make any unit work with good gear. It's just that you get more value out of certain characters more than others with the same level of investment. That's what tier lists are for. For strength value per investment spent. Also why, in general 5*s are stronger than 4*s. But everyone already knows this, surely. Right??????
Imo thats why presenting data using tier list is just end up being missleading most of the time, most people just look at the tierlist without researching what the character even do or what kind of synergies they can built in their account, tierlist also giving a sense of urgency to pull for character if they put them on the "S" tier when in reality with enough time, investment and synergies you can clear anything in the game. i prefer an in depth guide of every character so we can decide what should we do with the character rather than just put them in tier list.
I love how you totally roasted the tier list maker with this one 😂. HSR really don't need tier list tbh. It's kinda misleading for some people to not play those who ranked lowest, when in reality everyone is playable in this game if build right.
Nah, rather it just show that if you invest enough, almost all character will work. But if you use the higher tier character it will be much faster on finishing the battle. Tier list is based on how good overall they are not by the fact can they actually clearing the content.
For people who have little time to grind, tier list is useful for f2p with minimal investment, I need to touch grass y know, no way I max my herta to lvl 70, light cone lvl 70, waste of time
sadly erudition for some people count like a class that supposed deal damage as much as hunt class but to many mobs which is what the point of hunt class if erudution like that

@@cc_the_rebel very true, even the description in game tell us each class purpose, yes there some character that can act like other class (like selee with passive can kill multiple mob in 1 turn ), but the main thing still the same (selee still a single target character with her skill and basic)

The comments mentioning who's worth building or tier positions are amusing to me, someone who's never played another HoYoVerse game and figured "I'll be fine if I build up everyone, right?". As such, it'll probably be a loooong time before I'm able to challenge stuff like this (I don't even have MOC unlocked yet), but Herta's been useful for me at my current section of the game and it's cool to see her still be effective down the line as well.
I like using Herta in SU with follow up team. But regarding your pinned comment, the reason she did this much damage was genuinely due to lvl 80+ jingyuans signature light cone(which imo is the strongest light cone right now) Had there been another erudition character, I think they would have done a better job. And not only that you are showcasing floor 6 with level 80 which is pretty easy for TL 60. I cleared floor 6 whilst being TL 56 with 1 star. I think it would have been more convincing if it was floor 7-10. Although, I like Herta, she doesn’t stand a chance near other erudition characters. E4 Qingque with Jingyuans signature light cone will deal 2x this Hertas damage.

@@LisaraScarlet Ascending characters give characters boost in stats and unlock traces and imo traces make a big difference. Also i said JINGYUANS signature light cone. The light cone literally gives you everything. Crit damage, ult and skill damage, 48% follow up damage. I would be surprised if your Herta did not deal damage with the relics and lc that skyrocket your follow up and crit damage to the sky

Herta is omega mid but I still build her just because I like her pulled Before dawn for her without having Jing Yuan as well (actually I lied, it's for my future Himeko, yea I know she's also omega mid, but booba is numba one priority)

I was wondering if I should invest into Herta although she gets bad placements in tier list, and while MoC enemies change the ice weakness remains (so far). Unless Yanqing comes home tomorrow I have not much ice dmg on my account. Ik your showcases are high investment but you make that perfectly clear imo. I will invest in Herta for now to suffer less in the foreseeable future bcs there is no limited ice character on the horizon whatsoever.

I don't care if she is bad character, low damage output, or lowest tier. She is beautiful and thats what all mean to me. Even if I got Jingyuan, I will never build him as much as I build herta in the early game, I prefer serval all along. With that being said I'm just gonna kurukuru my way in MoC.

I mean Tier List has always been about the Return on Investment, some units just will yield higher value when invested and some will yield lower. Given the same amount of investment then other Erudition will clear more comfortably, People have made Abyss clear with Xinyan, does that make her a good unit? No. Does that make tier list invalid? No. I respect that people are dedicated enough to make some units works, BUT seeing the description just leave a bad taste to the video because its made on bad faith.

It's impressive but its truly showing how important Sushang & Asta are to clear this stage. You could insert any AD killer in Herta's place, same result.

Clearing MoC 6 as an indicator of a character’s performance is like saying Amber is good because she can clear floor 9 of the Abyss with relative ease at higher investment. Erudition characters at the time of this MoC also had a damage bonus buff. Abyss 12 of Honkai Star Rail would be floors 9-10. That’s a better indicator. The point is that most content in the game isn’t difficult, and to make it easier to understand on a more drastic scale it’s like saying Herta is good because she can clear the first stage of Forgotten Hall. For the purposes of general content anything is fine and works well, which is why the tier list is relevant only to the later stages of MoC (specified in the notes).
Personaly every character even harmony can deal massive damage if they are in high level and get basic to nice 5 star relic. I kinda understand that your Herta deal massive because ofc e3 free herta (e2 give 15% crit rate entire battle if you launch follow up) also Jy LC and ice relic already busted because you got free cdm on those relic, salsoto also give 8% more cr and buff to follow up and ultimate damage. Honestly tier for my opinion is relatable base on utility, i understand why herta got D tier not bcs she lack damage but bcs she lack utility, her sole utility is like Jy which just dps but Jy have turn follow up when herta can trigger 1 time only when enemy have 50%, she will good enough if there is more enemy have heal skill but its also frustating if hoyo decide to give us those type enemy, even Mara is already give player headache. This is good to anyone want to build up character even qinque now i kinda consider to build bcs she is the only quantum 4 star rn. But your Herta cant consider a good example for my observe bcs as i said before tier list for me base on utility and herta is solely dps dealer with no utility even frozen need to break first but she is still the best ice dmg dealer especially if your march is always give enemy frozen. Its just a good job to break the tier list rumor bcs i kinda hate salty person that Herta is D bcs of her dps when she is in D in my opinion bcs she lack utility like qinque in the lower state bcs she is rng and take much skill point
That's all well and good, but how does that make Herta not D-Tier? You gave her the strongest LC, and in the video you can see that most of the damage comes from breaching the vulnerability or from the accumulation of enemies, all under the blessing of MoC. Along with this, you have a lot of good artifacts, and on all characters, for example, I can only dream of such a thing. You have a lot of strong LC, artifacts, and your Herta does significant damage to only 5 enemies under the MoC buff. Her multipliers are still very low and other characters with this investment will do more, especially event or hunters, as the main enemies in MoC are bosses and elites.
Sushang mostly getting the MOC buff = Herta getting it? I think you should rewatch the video. Not to mention, whenever Herta does her big damage, it is CLEARLY not with the MOC buff. I gave her Jing Yuan LC because I do not pull for rate up characters, it that really a problem? Can you please specifically point out my good artifacts? Because all I see is that my gears have the correct main stats but the substats are far from ideal. Also, you are another player who is clearly underestimating the penalty from being level gapped in MOC. Herta doing significant damage to multiple enemies? Wow, who would've thought an Erudition could do that right? Also, your last sentence, really? Comparing Herta to Hunt? You are under the classic belief that there's only one boss to deal with when HSR clearly doesn't do things that way and allows bosses to summon adds. MOC10 is a double boss fight BTW which means that an Erudition will always do double damage.
@@LisaraScarlet I rewatched the video and saw that the biggest damage done by Herta, which you are just showing off, was done right at the moment of the MoC buff on 5 enemies. Along with that, you have LC Seele on your Sushang and, as I said, you have good artifacts. If we talk about erudition, then my JY does well with ST, when your Herta, having the STRONGEST LC in the game, does well only under 4 stacks of Asta and 50% MoC buff, and of course, full sets and E5. It's good that you sympathize with her, but not only are you trying to shield Herta in a good squad with really strong LCs, you also closed all these lineups on the 24th cycle. Your Herta was saved thanks to Sushang, the MoC buff, as well as the gear you have and it DOES NOT make Herta not a D-tier. And believe me, I will not change my mind, because this character is not suitable even for early game. When I changed it to Arlan my game got a lot easier lol.
@@pptctv You are actually dumb then, I said it. MOC buff only aims a random unit (between Hunt and Erudition) and only buffs that unit at that specific turn. If Herta got the buff then she would get an immediate turn but no, when she did her big damage, it was literally a natural turn. Also, I never tried to convince you or anyone to build their Herta. I don't even care who you are and who you play. My problem is you are spreading misinformation.

I stopped trusting tier lists and guide makers in hsr community since I knew that a lot of em make videos about units that are NOT in the game yet and still make "in-depth guide." I've said this before and I'll say this again. The game requires you to think and use your brain. You can clear higher contents as long as you use yours. The problem is, majority of the players don't use their brains.
They just refuse to use their brain and instead using their time and energy to argue about other people choice and decision, you can see a lot of people saying "why you pull for jingyuan? He's just overhype, just pull for seele, she deals more damage" when no one even asking about advice in the first place.
i don't understand these people who can't touch "weak" characters like Herta after getting Seele, Jing Yuan and later probably every S-tier dps. Herta isn't bad, she was just designed to fight against multiple enemies, which makes her hard to beat bosses due to bonus attack hitting as many times as targets on the field below 50% health
People just forgot it's a game. And it's a solo game, why do they care so much about what people playing ? I'm a huge fan of Herta + Himeka + Yanqing team in SU. I'm a huge fan of Sushang, I think she is really underestimated while she could be 5* just with e1. Now, we got SW where 95% of people only see her for the weakness application while what she make her really good are all those debuff she can apply on what ever action she does. In the end, most haterz just don't use their brain and forgot to have fun in the game.

NGL pulling for SW at the very least is tempting due to her extreme uniqueness which is being able to add element weakness based on the element of your team. I do plan to continue pulling all rate up LCs.
As a simple guy i mostly use herta as my main ice dps or fallow up to my JY fallow up which is really same goes to himiko i love herta kit even tho other ppl say shes just a d tier char

Eh, the tier lists have been kind of a sham since day 1. Remember when Gepard was A and Fire TB was S+? When Yanqing was A, which was at the time the lowest rank among the 5 stars (Himeko was S)? When Welt was A before getting moved to S due to peer pressure every time they posted the tier list and the comments would be filled with ppl telling them Welt is OP? All their data is based off of raw math calculations rather than thinking about team building and team interactions. Tunnel visioning on raw numbers will inevitably make you miss the fine print of how well a kit as a whole can perform in the right situations (which is how they missed the true potential of units such as Gepard and Welt, for example...) I much preferred Arknights tier lists where they'd rank everyone A or S with a hyper-detailed description of the super niche use a unit has that makes them earn that spot. Seeing everyone in A and S can be anti-climactic but the descriptions cleared up any doubts you had and helped you decide who to build based on your account needs. If you read the descriptions of characters on Prydwen the only really detailed guide is Jingyuan's, every other character has 2 paragraphs of text describing them but the catch is that those paragraphs are so generic that reading the description of 2 characters of the same class feels like reading the same text twice lol.
a sp generator than can also switch to beast mode when a bunch of ice weak enemies decide to come and play, hmm i think i know who im building next xD p.s ice break and other effects that STOP or SLOW an enemies abilty to do actions is being slept on still imo, less damage/status to deal with = less healing/shielding needed = more room for damage times xD

Dreamy any thoughts on birth of self light cone, i was lucky enough to get s4 of it and my herta is e6 rn, will herta perform decently with the similar gear setup as yours, just asking since your herta is juiced
Sadly ... "Birth of Self" is a really bad LC. How do I know? I literally had an S4 Birth of Self too. It's actually quite a no-brainer why its really bad, Herta's talent at max is just 40% modifier so even if you double that, it only does at max 80%. So not only you are boosting the worst part of Herta's kit but you're also gonna kill her damage from all other sources. You'd really want Jing Yuan LC, it is that good simply because all other Erudition LCs are so bad.

I know the reason most people don't wanna invest cuz we're early in game and don't wanna "waste" their material. For me at least, idc about these material, i can always farm. I believe there's always a place or use for character *x* for *x* content. There's no useless and no perfect character. You just need to understand where to use them.
Its more fun to play your favourites instead of playing for tier list And for me always end up liking lower tier characters whiteout knowing it Too bad tier list cultists will hunt heretics like me down and show no mercy for as little as considering low tier characters fun
And yet some people are not satisfied with that. They must absolutely tell you that they are really bad and you should just invest on another character. Else they won't be able to sleep at night knowing you are still building low tier characters.
Can you do this without the Jing Yuan light cone? My problem with your video is the fact that your Herta is e5 and that she has that broken light cone. I can do something about her relics but not her eidolons or light cone. For now, all your video showed me is that I should get that light cone and her eidolons up and THEN build her.
Herta being at high eidolons is natural since you get her dupes from SU. I agree that Jing Yuan LC is very strong but that also is due to the fact that every other Erudition LC options are weak. Have you seen F2P Jing Yuan showcases? Same as Jing Yuan, Herta also gets significantly weaker with the more accessible LCs. But similar to Jing Yuan with his LC, Herta also gets significantly stronger with JY LC. You can't skip Jing Yuan's LC simply because the other options are just bad.
@@LisaraScarlet does that mean the JY LC is indispensable to Herta for MOC? In other words, would you still recommend Herta if the player does not have that LC?
@@suruzu I wouldn't exactly say that it is indispensable. You'd still get an "average" Erudition by using any high superimposed LC on her but don't expect a "strong" performance like what's shown on the vid.
@@hellothere9057 There's no definite answer because I want the guy asking to find his own answer. Is he willing to have an average at best Erudition because he can only use easily accessible LCs? Then sure, invest on Herta. Does he not like the fact that Herta would just be average w/o Jing Yuan's LC? Then don't build her.
