Memory programming for the IC-2730 

I just bought one of these and was frustrated by the lack of this information in plain language. Thank you for making it clear and doing a nice video.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one who took a look at that manual and got a headache. It's 2018 and Icom's engineers still can't make a straightforward front panel programming experience. I haven't even installed this radio in my truck yet, the purchase-regret is currently so high. Waiting for the USB cable to arrive from Amazon. If that doesn't work, DX Engineering is getting this one back.

Hi Omar, Everytime I make a memory change or I use your tutorial. Very helpful. This radio is NOT user friendly. I still have some older Icom radios that are much easier to program. This one takes a genius and I guess I'm not. Thanks!

Excellent! That write selection didn't initially make sense!!

To save a frequency in the memory you can also press and hold the "MW" and it will save to the next open channel.

Hi - is there a way to toggle between the memory name and the frequency. I know how to show either / or via the menu....but every other radio I have I can press a single key, or hold a key, if I wish to toggle between the two

I was wondering if anyone could help. I followed all the steps detailed in this video, but when I press 'Yes' for Overwrite, the radio gives two fast beeps, almost as if it were an error message, and no name is programmed into the radio. Is the radio just broken, or is there something I can do?

I try to find the same screen as you have shown on the RU-vid instructions. How do I get there first? It shows SIMPLEX and MR 002. This isn't my familiar environment yet so I am just a fool wandering around in my radio.

MW= Memory Write

Hey for what it's worth - the BlueMax49ers FTDI USB cable for Icom radios works perfectly. I found it on Amazon for $25. Too bad I can't say the same for the 2730 itself - man what a terrible radio. Back to DXE it goes (got a defect, I assume.. they cannot possibly all be this bad.)

Is there a chirp software to do this too?
