A zoo and an aquarium combined, whoever got that idea is a genius

I went to this zoo a few times in 2009 while living there in Memphis. It is absolutely top notch and the best zoo I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Great tour! We love t Memphis zoo, in fact just released a vid of their kangaroo Walkabout. It was awesome! The pandas are great too. Always munching 😂 just need to see if they know Kung fu 😂

At certain times the Polar Bear will get really playful & put on a really good show! There’s a little area where you can go down & see under the water; it has benches to sit on & the Polar Bear will swim up to the glass, right in your face if you’re standing in front of the glass. He interacts with the people in front of the glass especially kids. Up top they beg for Food ( peanuts) The Sea Lions put on a really good “Trained Show”, it all depends on how hot it is that day &/or how rainy it is how active the animals are. I’m from W. Tn. and visited the Memphis Zoo off & on since I was a very small child, also carried my child then my grandchild & it’s a very fun way to spend the day, always loved it. Some of that old part used to be Elephant enclosure, not sure about the rest.

Thanks for sharing this. We are planning our summer trip and this will be our first stop. We love zoos and would also rate San Diego and Cincy among best. If you haven't been to Omaha (yes Omaha) would definitely recommend it. We also like Pittsburgh for the cats, Indianapolis, and St. Louis.

we just went today, crowd was very mild, 90%+ wearing masks, and of course must wear in indoors exhibits. The penguins mountain use to be the seals and i think before then it was monkeys island. the blue basins that are actually still in the park next to the carosel used to be the hippos. I love looking at the old remnants of my 80's and early 90's visits. Another item i wish still existed and would be cool if they hid one in a secret spot... the wax animal machine! moldorama or something they used to call the machines. Everytime i went to the zoo with my parents, i'd have a wax animal made. Of course, these days those machines are hard to come by, im assuming parts manufacturers for it are now defunct and engineers would have to craft repair parts for them. I love the memphis zoo, lots of great memories. ive been to alot of zoos in my time, and most are lots of walking, less animals.. while memphis zoo has a good balance of acreage and animal watching.. most zoos cant get this right, but memphis zoo has it right.

I went there today I didn’t see half of the animals because it was cold and plus COVID-19 I guess idk

Memphis zoo is not a qualification zoo, it treats our Chinese panda Yaya and Lele worst in the world . Pls kindly help Yaya and Lele and make sure they are healthy enough when they come back China in April of 2023 .😂
