Loved it! The mark of true genius is being able to laugh at ourselves and Dr. Leon Chua's explanation of why it took so long for the memrister's "discovery" (starting at about minute: 49:00 of the presentaton) , dating back to Aristotle, is not only brilliant, but hilarious: Ergo, a true genius at work!!!!
this video was posted on youtube in 2008; and, it happens to have the originator of the memdevices theory; he must be as excited to see all the latest experimental work as Peter Higgs over the last couple of years!
Wow I didn't find it that boring when the lecture started. What can i say I am a sucker for color overheads...he had me at Coke bottle. But I guess I'm old skool seriously it wouldn't kill them to have a TA throw this on a PowerPoint would it?
Dr Chua has invented the memory capacitor....but it's a capacitor that's a function of flux. It's a flux capacitor. There was an old movie that first used this term, and he's greatly dimishing the marketability of the idea by using "flux capacitor" as the term.
university professors are not usually hired for their teaching skills, but rather for the academic skills. I'm assuming you're still in high school, or else you should be able to learn even from boring educators :)
