"Who Can It Be Now?" is a song by the Australian rock band Men at Work. It was released as a single in 1981 and later included on their debut album "Business as Usual," which was released in 1982. The song was written by the band's lead vocalist and flutist, Colin Hay.
The song became a big hit, reaching the top of the charts in Australia, Canada, and the United States. It features a distinctive saxophone riff and catchy melody, making it one of Men at Work's most recognizable songs. The lyrics of the song are about a person who is constantly bothered by unexpected visitors and is growing increasingly frustrated by them.
"Who Can It Be Now?" played a significant role in Men at Work's rise to fame, and it remains a staple of 80s music playlists. The band's fusion of rock, pop, and new wave elements, along with their quirky lyrics and catchy tunes, contributed to their popularity during that era.

"Who Can It Be Now?" was a number one hit in the US forty years ago. The follow up single, "Down Under", also went to number one. The lyrics of that song were packed with Australian slang that left everybody asking about vegemite sandwiches.

Men at Work owned the world for like 18 months in '82-83 and then they were gone. We were lucky to grow up in the '80s.

I was 11 when this album first came out and it was the first cassette tape I ever purchased. My favorite Men at Work song is "Over Kill" from their Cargo album.

We were always taught growing up (60s/70s) to never answer the door when Momma wasn’t home. I instilled the same with my two girls growing up. As adults…..we still do it! 😹 My husband laughs but actually agrees, if we don’t know you, why engage? We are also a bit quirky, so this is a family theme song! Thanks for sharing gents! 😽💋🎶

Written by Colin Hay. He is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist guitar. He was born and raised in Scotland, UK 🇬🇧. The late Greg Ham, RIP, on saxophone 🎷. 1 of the best sax solos in the 1980s. Men at Work originates from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺.. 1 of the 1980s songs about stalking or watching 👀. Others? Golden Earring with Twilight Zone. The Police 🚔 with Every Breath You Take. Rockwell and the late Michael Jackson, RIP, with Somebody's Watching Me. Suggested other video 📹 Men at Work performs Down Under.

Yeah...no, it's about a paranoid person. "I like it here with my childhood friends...". Paranoid & anti-social. GREAT song & band, though! Thanks for your reaction.

Please do Overkill by Men at Work. It's a great song. There is an even better acoustic version by Colin Hay, the lead singer.

gotta go with Overkill as the next one . and consider a live version of Overkill by Colin Hay (the lead singer. as solo artist ) his acoustic version is a whole other take on the full arrangement with the band.

Great song but if you couldn't tell, the man is going through a bad time mentally. The repeating mantra (Who can it be now? Who can it be now?), wanting to be left alone but also he's with his 'friend', the distress when he say "Here they come, those feelings again" and the person at the door doing it all day. He is not well. As for the real life band, they also had to deal with debt collectors. Very stressful.

You know what's funny? I'm old now but when I was but a kid when this song came out the conspiracy theory theme of this song seemed silly back then. But now? As a divorced motherfucker who just wants to be left alone without the neighbors knocking? Relevant. Also, IT'S A MISTAKE is one of the coolest songs from the 1980's. Just saying.
