I've know a few people who have been bully's themselves and never got in trouble for it. this one time I confronted one and he said it was ok for him to bully because he was bulled. he then turned to tears because of the scolding I gave him. ironically enough a few years later he was bully at collage, the irony was lost on him. there was even one guy I knew who was bullying and somehow thought he was doing the right thing. what do you think on this matter. But they ARE. They don't understand what real bullying is. Real bullying is being tormented everyday, hated by your peers, left out, alone. Most of these people were called ONE name, then never referred to that again. That's not bullying. It's kids being kids. My friends joke around often and call me "Loser" "Gay" "Stupid", but you know why I don't get offended? Because I'm not a pansy that needs a safe space. I know how to take a joke or sly comment.

same. i was not a tomboy, but i have a low, deep voice, sickly appearance, my skin was pale, not gorgeous pale but like...pale pale. i have black hair and my eyes is reddish brown and they start calling me zombie and vampire. they shoved and hide my things, called me names and sometimes accted like i was invisible. i was a quiet kid too. im never good enough for my mom or big family, they keep saying im too thin, so i eat more, then im too fat, so i diet (which resulted in me losing half my hair because of my lack of nutrition). im so glad i have my brother and my dad who supported me through all those years. i was not as strong as you tho. but im getting better :D tho my voice is still hella deep. to all of you who have been bullied, stay strong!

My abuser was my brother.. and him and I took him aside one day and we talked about everything he did to me. He explained himself, but also said that he wasn't the brother that I needed in my life. That what he did was unacceptable. And he apologized. And to be honest, all I needed was that apology. Now, him and I are closer than we've ever been before. And it may sound extremely strange, but I don't ever want to change what happened to me. Not a single thing, because if I was never abused, if I was never bullied, I wouldn't be the person I am today, and I think of myself an extremely respectable woman and an extremely strong woman, and I would never want to change that.

Ian Cobb I was a victim of bullying for over 8 years, but I admit that I did bully someone myself. In high school, I had a group of close friends (there were 4 of us in the group) and basically we were doing everything together. Tension started to build up when a girl who was in our group started to become an egomaniac and she thought so highly of herself. She thought she was the best writer in the whole school and also a great leader material, but that was nowhere near being true. No one said anything to her face, they just laughed at her during class and behind her back. I *would have* felt sorry for her, but eventually, even in our little group she wanted everything to be about her and if any of us said no to her ideas, or even criticized her, she was threatening to run to her daddy and get us kicked out. Our other two friends didn't say anything to her face, just talked behind her back, but I just couldn't take her ego anymore because the fact that she thought she was the greatest annoyed me, because it wasn't true. Everyone thought she was making a fool of herself, but she didn't see it. So eventually I started to be mean towards her in a hidden way (with not straightforward, but obvious insults that could be applied to her) because I wasn't able to deal with her bullshit any longer. That resulted in me pushing her out of our group and she basically became a loner who continued to act all smart, and she gave everyone angry looks. One would expect me to say that I regret this years later, but I don't. That bitch had what was coming to her because sometimes she even went as far to harass and bully us. So, bullying back is sometimes justified.

If they say something to you while thinking that you aren't tough enough for it, show them that you are tough enough, and either brush it off or deal with it passive-aggressively to get inside their heads.

I go to a school in the city, which means its extremely culturally diverse. Our school has its fair share of racist jokes, but the people who they are directed towards actually accept those comments. I have a few Asian friends, and I do often insult them, but I never mean what I say. Its always often a joke and I would never say something that mean and be 100% honest about it.

Uhm...I disagree. I am now a teacher, and my school is very focused on anti-bullying strategies, something I am obviously very passionate about. We work closely with a neuropsychiatrist, especially if we see class dynamics that aren't harmonious and constructive. We have workshops and even 4 day field trips for team-building, self-assurance etc. THAT teacher was a bad teacher,

The exact same thing happened to me. I grew up with my Filipino cousins, and they would always make fun of me for being a "white girl" because my father was Dutch. I would also always feel out of place with them, and I would still feel out of place at school because it was predominantly white. I always wanted to be one thing or the other. It's not like I could talk to anyone at school. My interest were too different, and it was just so hard for me to relate to them because they all came from rich families while my family could barely afford to send me to this fancy private school. It also didn't help the situation that I live about an hour away from everyone. It's too much of a hassle to visit them outside of school. Honestly, I'm just glad that I'm not the only person going though something like this. Hopefully the situation gets better, right?

Those people are not true friends and sound borderline racist (not really even borderline, just racist). A true friend would try to understand all aspects of your identity without throwing hate onto something that is a part of you and your culture. Hopefully as you get older and you'll get to be around people who are cultured and intelligent that appreciate things that are new and different to them. Maybe that friend feels threatened by your Korean identity because it makes you even more interesting and she wants to ruin your enjoyment to make herself feel better and more important. Either way, as people mature things get better and those that don't grow up get left behind (friend wise, family is another story though).

I also have a friend like that and she doesn't really enjoy stuff from other countries she won't even try. It's frustrating I understand. You should not hide who you are because your friend is a friend and I get options matter but not liking a song just because it was korean? It's no just no don't do that. That just makes them seem small minded. You should have a talk with her about how you feel when she gives you weird looks when you talk about things you like. I know it's not pleasant or welcoming.
