@ChaosCat79
@ChaosCat79 3 года назад
That would be Danny Talbot you're rightly referring to. He was in the form of his life that year (set his current 200m pb of 20.16 in the heats of that same World Champs, placing him in 9th place on the UK all time list over the distance) and was a stalwart of the GB 4x100m team for several years by that point. The following year though, his career was nearly ended by a serious car crash he was in that would mean he missed the whole of the 2018 season. He's back now, but has raced very sparringly, largely as a result of the whole Covid lockdown prematurely ending the 2020 athletics season. His third leg run in this race was undoubtedly his finest hour as an athlete, no question about it. It was a thing of beauty.

@ Cheng Liu I thank you for pointing the way to what was a clear and definite foul on the part of the UK Team. IAAF Competition rule 170 would seem to apply. I'm unclear whether or not intent plays a part in the rule interpretation, but a blow to the head is certainly an impediment in my book. But I concur with your observation of Su Bing Tian's determination. It is most noteworthy.

@@ranhill62, if you pause a moment or two and take advantage of Cheng Liu's astute observation at time index 16:36, you would realize how inappropriate the words "even if it was an impediment" really are. Unless of course you don't regard a blow to the head while in full sprint an impediment. And since the event in question is over two years old without so much as a published whisper about the outcome, I would suspect the sports world isn't likely to discover how the Brits might respond to such a challenge in the face of such indisputable graphic evidence. But then again, the question of reversal was raised by you.

Absolutely no chance of catching them, they were flying and way too far ahead. He knew this and many have questioned his actual pull up, he didn't want to go down too two other quicker men.

Again, it's Gatlin that always screws up the handoff. He has a bad habit of playing it too safe on the exchange to where he literally like right on his teammate to make sure he gets the baton.

I remember watching this and just looking at USA and Jamaica... and by the third change, I noticed something strange: "Wait,😳 What?!... DannyTalbot is in the lead" ... And it wasn't just a small lead and nor was he getting run down either. Then the anchor... "😳 Mitchell-blake, you've actually got this" In the end, outside of all the euphoria... The race really wasn't that close at all... It's a clear victory.

@dmartin805
@dmartin805 4 года назад
If the world could embody the same feeling Tolbert of GB had when he passed the baton to his teammate Blake the world would be a better place. There were no colors or socio-economic disparities. Tolbert screamed "Go" to his brother and expected his brother to carry the token of teamwork to the finish line. He was excited and hopeful although knowing that the worlds greatest sprinter was next to him. Blake ran with his eyes on the prize not missing a step or flinching at the possibility of losing. Together, they overcame.

How Colleman disappeared on Bolt in the 100 meter final, and how he great Britain guy caught up with him is confusing. Colleman messed this up, considing his capability, he let not anyone but himself down.

Coleman is known for fading at the end of his 100m he should not have anchored the US team, if he was put on the first leg and gatlin on the anchor this would’ve been a different outcome

That was absolutely outstanding by Great Britain. Every leg was executed brilliantly and every change over was timed to perfection. Also i think Usain Bolt was too far behind to catch up even before his hamstring blew out such was the epic race both USA and Team GB ran.

Understandably , Bolt injured himself for his last race, because his structure is the most unique of all the sprinters in history, with the kind of force explosiveness and power that he produced, his body can't keep up with it., the cube theory take on effect, but he created a legacy that no one will ever beat.

Husain Bolt Best of luck
