With reference to your closing comment, I personally never find it embarrassing if I turn up 'overdressed' I just look at it that I'm the best dressed guy in the room and everyone else is underdressed.

My wedding invites said white tie, we went all out on the gig. As the groom I was the only person wearing a white tie and a dove tail. Ruined my wedding. The rest Of the men were wearing business casual with a 50$ blazer

Also keep in mind that dress codes vary widely depending on where you live, even within the US. For example, here in California, people will often interpret "formal" as dark jeans and any collared shirt (even short-sleeved). I often show up to weddings in a suit and tie, only to find that I'm way overdressed by comparison, and end up just leaving the jacket in the car during the reception. (P.S. always err on the side of formality) Another example is my winter work attire. Trousers, dress shirt, sometimes a solid v-neck sweater, and a knee-length thick wool double-breasted coat (no tie). At home, I'm far and away the best dressed person, as my co-workers are all in baggy khakis and polos. When I went to NY once in the same attire, I was basically fitting right in with the average person on the street, and probably would be under-dressed in a real business setting.

We live in Texas which tends to be quite casual. I know for job interviews it is proper to wear a suit. How about for a follow up interview in a dinner setting at a nice restaurant. Would a blue blazer and contrasting pants work in this situation? Or is a suit the way to go.

I like tucked in shirts with or without a tie, but most of the time I really like untucked. Any recommendations on the proper button-up form factor for said format with a tie?

I really like your videos, I just came across your channel because I was looking for Ideas for the Outfit I'm going to buy for my brothers wedding. I'll have to go a little more fancy on that since I'm the groomsman .. I usually wear my business suit because you don't draw as much attention with it... I find that it works great for weddings, business, dates and if you find yourself buying a velvet suit you could just go to the opera and be fine. But then again I don't usually go to events where I'd get a formal invitation, so that isn't something I have to worry about. so I definetly agree with you on that "can't really go wrong with a business suit" statement BUT when it comes to casual I find that matching the shoes with the trousers isn't nearly as important as matching it with your belt and your watch ( if you wear one ) because these are the accents that kind of "divide" your whole outfit and it doesn't matter how well something goes with another piece of clothing if you are going crazy on mixing accessory colors it's definetly going to look like a mess. But thats just my opinion :-) What do you think?

A lot of executives don't regularly wear suits to work unless they are meeting a client or at a public function. Almost nobody wears a tie to work now. In the 80's and 90's I had to wear a tie to work even though I was just a cubicle worker who never met customers. I would assume your company or law firm would tell you what they want you to wear and if they don't then they don't think it's big deal. How many people even know the difference between an oxford and blucher? I didn't until recently although I don't wear suits regularly to work.

Please include ways to appropriately incorporate traditional or national elements of dress into formal/semiformal/business dresscodes.

Love your channel. Question for you...I have a friend's wedding coming up next weekend. In Stone Harbor, Nj. I've purchased a navy suit with a white button-up shirt. But I don't plan on a wearing a tie, the bride and groom know this. What's your opinion on this? Right or wrong? Antonio, I love your videos and I was hoping you could answer a question that I have. With the exception of tails I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing the difference between a tuxedo and a suit. Some of the more modern tuxedos seem to be cut like a suit and I have even seen them being worn with a neck tie. Thank you for the work you do.

I didnt know that you wear white tie that rarly over at the States. In Austria, especially in Vienna, where i live, you wear it more frequent. I am 17 and i have one and i have worn it 7 times, this year. You wear it mostly on very formal balls. And that are the only events i have visited in a "Frack" as we call it.

This is off topic, but I'm going to buy a new pair of desert boots as they are what I almost always wear. I'm 18 and going to college, and I was wondering whether I should stick with suede or get a dark brown leather pair. I typically wear dark jeans and button downs. With Cold weather it'll probably be the same but with a lot of merino wool on top. I'm just worried the dark brown leather might look a little too work boot like. But the suede can get annoying to maintain.
