I played college intramurals at the university of Alabama, and we had the exact same rules except we used a standard football field. I think having a big field makes it more fun, because people can really open up on their routes or have space to work with. It was so much fun.
@@davidanderson1451 Dave I'm not saying I didn't like it......actually kept my attention for 45 minutes. I would like to see the 8 man game you mentioned!!!!
@@kevinarmstrong386 I hated the 5 man game when I played. Always stayed 8 man. 5 man game is zero blocking. That is why I loved the 8 man game, but I embraced the contact. 5 man is small field and lots of flash.
As a ref for a Boys and Girls club that adopted the NFL Flag rules a few years back, it's awesome to see the game making it to such a high level. I really hope kids get to see this, it's gotta be a great step in decreasing how many aspiring athletes have terrible injuries before really getting a chance to make their dreams come true.
That will never happen or replace contact football. I’m not saying it never happens but playing football as a kid isn’t really the problem as your not even getting hit hard enough usually to get one let alone multiple concussions that warrant long term problems, wanting to hit someone is why boys play….and you knowingly take the risk if you go pro and are paid extremely well.
@@fullmetalfunk Sure but most high school football atlethes are at least in the back of their mind gunning for a college scolarship, so it's not like they're risking injury for nothing, they're doing it for a chance at something better.
@@mypud4068 studies have shown that a lot of young players already are in the early stages of CTE by the time they get to college. It doesnt take huge hits to damage the brain. Lots and lots of small impacts build up over time. The brain is an incredibly vital and delicate organ.
@user-yw3lj7if9u until you get to high school its not an issue, they already know that about 20% of high school football players will get at least one concussion in the 3 or 4 years they play. Again I'm not saying it never happens to younger people but the amount of kids that develop any serious CTE after high school football is low and so if we're talking pee wee and even middle school the percent is even smaller. There are those rare cases where all it takes is 1 concussion to do damage but as someone who played up until I graduated high school there just isn't alot of high impact collisions because unlike college and the NFL the gap between skill, size, speed and strength is quite immense. You generally see huge hits in football when a wide receiver gets blasted by a player in the secondary, if you notice with even running backs a concussion usually not the reason they are injured. I suspect that number will also drop because its actually being taken seriously and if you even show signs of one you won't play until your cleared by a Dr or a protocol which it can't ever be perfect but it can surely be handled much better and cut down on longterm affects by allowing the brain to rest and actually heal before it gets knocked around again. Even when we were kids we would play tackle football in the yard, there is something innately in boys that they want to play things that involve contact with other boys, no way flag football would have been an option. Hell outside of football just the stuff we would do I would say rivaled football in terms of roughness and taking hits to the head.
I cannot wait to see this make it to the Olympics. Hope the Italian defender who got injured can make a full recovery! Thanks to all involved for putting on such an exceptional performance for our viewing pleasure, and more importantly, thank you for representing your teammates, your countries, and your sport with such amazing character and sportsmanship. Now when is next season!?
@@kasiadinero1695 Why are you trying to act like you dont know what im talking about? This video is about a sport derived from football. im talking about football, genius
#14 Killed in this game. ► crucial 4th down conversion ► TD passes ► TD runs ► even broke a man's ankle (literally) Italy couldn't even slow him down. USA coach should've found a taller pass-rusher. The one that they were using wasn't affecting the Italian QB's passing angles/windows.
im in awe with the connections and ball placement with both the quarterbacks. so different but theyre all so beautiful. props to them. love watching this game
Was it just me or did anyone else know that Flag Football was this big? Seriously, though I like how fast paced the game is and that it is basically and NFL game without the 20 minutes of commercials. I do predict four things will happen number one this will become a olympic sport and almost every country will have a team, number two you will start to see more boys and girls play flag football because parents will see it as the alternative to traditional football, number three your going to see this grow into like stadiums field of people watching this sport, trade deadlines, bigger pay for players, endorsements, etc. number four you will see some kid who will say I started from the flag now we here.
@@oranebrown2169 or maybe its evidence that humans value an in tact body. Dont get me wrong, traditional football is to die for, but its slowly dying as more people are disliking its high injury statistics
@@danoneall4013 I was thinking more along the lines of less wars, and more peaceful progression, am a fundamentalist at heart, meaning certain fact are supreme, for eg. For the time being the only practical mean to survive would be to procreate, and all same sex union stands against this fact, which should be considered inhumane.
Holy crap! This is exciting as hell to watch especially how talented Italy looks! This has to be introduced into the Olympics one day if it gets picked up around the world like it is in these World Championships!!!
I was thinking how is this real because it's embarrassing. Bums that cant catch without sticky gloves. A qb that has the goofiest throwing mechanics ever. Aside from the fact that he sticks his head up the center's butt to get a snap from under center. And fat receivers. This whole video sucks.
Congratulations Team USA!!! So fun to watch. I would only suggest that the broadcast show a better zoomed out view of the action. Id like to see how the routes are developing live.
Italians beat Mexicans in American football?!? As a American I'm disappointed 😆 glad to see football being played by other countries, really cool. Love it
Had absolutely no idea this existed, but cool to see. Also cool to see the rise in women's football. I am so hooked on football as a sport I will consume it in every form. Arena, USFL, flag, etc. keep it coming.
The illegal contact penalties are a little over the top. When two people are running full speed at each other, pretty difficult to avoid hitting each other sometimes. Slight miscalculation from either side will mean they collide. The whole “you should be able to control your body” thing is dumb because it means you expect people to not give 100% effort which means the game will be less competitive/exciting.
@@rickanduiza186 well Jalen is definitely better at running which is seems to be more important in flag. At the end of the day though any NFL guys are cooking
either Hurts. Jackson, maybe Mahomes or Allen too could make a hell of a qb here. (although Allen usually doesn't mind making contact with defensive players so he'd get flagged a lot) But it would take so so long for other teams to get the skill level of them so it'd be kinda boring for a while.
With the current state of the league it's not too far off. It's why it's not fair to compare the stats of say Patrick Mahomes to like a John Elway. The NFL is basically gifting modern offenses yards nearly every drive. You can't even think about breathing on receivers or QB's anymore. As a fan of defense (The Legion of Boom is my favorite team ever) it's a shame to see.
@@glenjoke10 Brain damages arent simple injuries lol. If we do not address that football is more prone to brain damage you might loose a lot of potential players for the future.
@@jmgonzales7701 its football ....what do you think happens when grown men collide with each other. We don't tell electricians to stop being electricians because they might get electrocuted...
It is. NFL has announced that the future pro bowl games will be a flag football/skills competition. Which will not be that much different from the past pro bowls.
There are similar rules for the youth British American football that I played in England. We had good success with the same type of makeshift wildcat QB play seen here.
What the hell are you talking about? The USA dominates in the Olympics winter or summer.. if USA doesn’t win the Olympics they are usually in second or third as far as golds.. not sure what you’re talking bout 🤷♂️
