Yep, Imagine having a severe injury while you're on top charts and ready to Rio Olympics, being told your career it's over, chances being you' won't jump never again your top level.. waiting 9 years for an Olympic gold...and eventually happens💗
Usally national atletic teams are like true team and cheer each other, since way atletics work they all go to same events, so its easy form friendships. And because pro level atletics in specific discipline is small, you can see lot of positive competeship
@@liamnaughton9505 so sad for you. You think a jump off on decreasing heights would have been nice to watch? They made 10 jumps each, the contest had already passed 2 hrs, wasn't that enough?
As Italian, this day was the most emotional ever for sports. In less than 20 minutes two guys gave to a hole country the most beautiful chapter of our history. I can't say how much I cried for joy. All the happiness and the hugs otherwise the amazing couple victory of Gimbo and Barshim and the epic feat of Marcell.
It’s was superb we were all so happy for these two athletes and Italy 🇮🇹 it was absolutely incredible. This Australian was celebrating with all Italian’s and all lovers of sport.
First joint gold medals for an athletics event since the 1912 Olympics, definitely will be one of the most historic moment in the Olympics history. That's what sportsmanship and friendship are. Truly passionate and wonderful.
They both deserved the Title, they were returning at their highest levels after having overcame serious injuries and all of their hard work had to be equally and highly rewarded. The fact they have decided to share the Title has probably been the best moment in these Olympics.
Barshim had a spine stress fracture , Tamberi had a foot fracture. To overcome that and give the entire world a hope that humans can exist and love each other is the most epic moment in our history. Couldn’t help the tears, I try not to cry, but those are happy tears.
For everyone wondering, this is the rule applied in this case, no irregularities here: World Athletics Technical Book Rule 26.8.4: "[...] If no jump-off is carried out, including where the relevant athletes at any stage decide not to jump further, the tie for first place shall remain."
@@ayeshaasad4341 As you can understand from his trainer gesture, he jumps too horizontaly instead of vertically. So as Crustacea said, he could have jumped better :D (for that level of course, "failing" the jump he overtook 2.24mt so ... :D)
The whole happened is amazing and so rare to see. Just 1 question in my mind. Tamberi jumped all the heights, Barshim instead didn't done the first jump, so Tamberi did +1 jump that virtually could cost him the first place, so risky
Barshim and Tamberi brought sportsmanship to a high level. I loved seeing two friends reach such heights especially while both had endured past injuries and supported each other along the way. So happy for you both sharing Gold medals at the Olympic high jump. The highlight of true sportsmanship of the Olympics 2020.
Same here! It made me long to go back to my competition days as I had to cut my "potential career" & dreams short due to illness. Hadn't watched a full competition for probably a decade as it hurt my heart but this was such an amazing display. The last 2 standing had suburb technique which was a joy to watch!
@Veronica Elizabeth I totally understand. My potential was never fully realized due to injury. My PR was 6 feet 8 inches but i had a 41 inch verticle and had only practiced for a single season. But i just couldnt get past a lower back injury. Love watching though.
2:33:41 Will go down in the annals of the Olympics. Iconic. 2 best friends deservedly sharing the top of a podium after being with each other through thick and thin .
I've managed to watch this live on tv and it is the best olympics moments that I've witnessed. The shared gold and their lives prior to olympics is just exceptional. I mean they have a carrer-threatening injuries but the bouncing off and gaining the gold after is just superb. I will treasure this for the rest of my life.
I love how both Barshim and Tamberi didn't leave out the dude who got 3rd, they were there for sportsmanship and the love of the sport, truly a memorable moment
@@Esaiko143 he looked happy and excited.. The Olympics is an amazing thing and appeared he had duty to his country. Everyone has their mental game they need to play to keep them in the zone.
Yea, lot of people hate olympics because there cost issue, but they forget that during them countries think more thing about competing in sport (which is also fun to watch) then making wars.
I declare this the best moment of the Tokyo Olympics. With so much division in the world, what an awesome display of sportsmanship and friendship that knows no condemnation
Everybody seen all the heartwarming things, but nobody mentioned that they put the gold medals on each other. Just icing on the cake, to end the best moment we could ask for as humans in this case
the girls from the Tiple Jump final coming to hug them was also really beautiful to me, the comentator on the channel i was watching said only other athletes can understand the joy that comes with a medal because they too know just how much sacrifice it takes. Watching them embrce eachother carrying their respective flags is the true spirit of the olympics.
People like me look up to and take inspiration from athletes like you, who, through their hardwork and perseverance have got a chance to represent India at world stage, a no normal feat, an achievement in itself topped up with medals. Will be waiting for you sir when the paralympics 2020 beings on 24th.
And he look so relax and swag like some kind of Rock Star when u saw him between jumps, and Tamberi was getting all the coaches and supporters to guide him with the atmosphere he craved
Barshim and Tamberi thanks for the injuries, the recoveries, the trainings and the great friendship that led you to gold. A dream that becomes reality.
One of the best high jump finals. In previous olympics and World championships 233 would have been enough to get a bronze medal, but this time the bronze medalist also cleared 237 and lost in count back. Two others cleared 235 and two more cleared 233 truly a very high quality final. And barshim and tamberi are amazing best moment of the olympics for me
So happy to witness this moment of glory of the 2 players. Well deserved medal for both. They are great not just in sports but also as human beings. They have so much respect for each other.
This is what the Olympic spirit and ideal signifies. Bravo to both, great athletes, great friends and a great moment in the history of the Olympic Games. Congratulations from Greece.
This has got to be the moment of the Olympics! His 'can we have two golds?" Meant 'can we SHARE the glory? 💖 I was in tears with them all! The whole story behind Tamberi's journey is so inspirational
I can’t tell you how much this made me feel... just amazing and so special...This is the the most special moment of the Olympics.. The emotion and triumph for both elite athletes will never be forgotten.. They are the absolutely the spirit of the Olympics and at some point should be a voice for the next Olympics in regards to sportsmanship, overcoming adversity and true love and respect for their competitor.
couldn't control my tears seeing Tamberi.. i totally understand his situation.. i had also been in a situation where you could come back from moments when you feel you are down and out..
*Wow! I cried in tears what a historical true sportmanship shown in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics 2 gold medalists* ❤💛 Congrats to the Qatari 🇶🇦 & Italian 🇮🇹 👏🏽
So, in the span of 5 minutes or so in the stadium, they had a world record in the women's triple jump, a shared gold medal in the high jump and an Italian in his first Olympics winning the 100 meter dash.
The representatives of the Olympic effort and spirit was demonstrated by the Italian and Qatar athletes sharing the a Olympic gold medal in the High Jump.
And Barshim just casually passing in the background behind Tamberi before his last jump, also clapping for him? I stg those two are so precious I can't...💕
This celebrate most of dramatic, spirit and unity in Olympics Tokyo.. Congrats both of you Italy & Qatar for share gold together and also Belaruss, honestly iam cry to watch this celebrate this is Sport for unity and for World better.. :)))
Haha Barshim is such a meme with the laying down hands behind his head, the second pair of sunglasses. And the commentators are fantastic too. What an incredible sport with incredible athletes - not just in physical ability, but the perseverance, the dare to challenge themselves, the sportsmanship and appreciation towards one another!
I've screm SO LOUD when I saw this live, I'm italian and I was hoping sooo much for Tamberi😭❤ He missed Rio 2016 for an injury just before the olympics💔 I was so HAPPY for him, our firts gold medal in athletic in this olympics, and then after 10 minutes we win THE gold with Jacobs in the 100m and he and Tamberi were hugging toghether and 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
The commentators from 100 M male runners didn't see Jacobs's win coming, here they didn't see Tamberi's win coming. It's nice to see the underdogs win (+ Bashim because we love him ♡)
they are competing each other for 11yrs no wonder why they decided to share the gold its not about competion its all about true friendship and rivals build ❤️❤️❤️ sorry for the grammar im not fluent
I am really grateful that they uploaded the whole high jump final match here... its almost like watching a movie with a beautiful climax. With love, from India.
Twas a memorable competition in large part from their willingness to share the glory- the other comments have been spot on, this kind of sportsmanship represents what the Olympics are all about
Thank you so much for including that historic medal ceremony! I've been aching to know how the anthems played out and I absolutely shed a tear when they hugged at the end
