June is Men's Mental Health Month and the Rhode Island National Guard solemnly recognizes the significance of this month. Together, we shed light on the battles faced by our brave servicemen and veterans in their silent struggles. Amidst the challenges, remember that no warrior fights alone.
If a veteran is struggling with mental health, there are several steps they can take:
1. Reach out for support: seek support from trusted individuals, such as friends, family members, or fellow veterans. Sharing your feelings and experiences can help lighten the burden.
2. Contact a mental health professional: The RING has mental health professionals who specialize in working with servicemembers. They can provide guidance, therapy, and appropriate treatment options tailored to your needs.
3. Utilize veteran-specific resources: Explore resources specifically designed for veterans, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA offers various mental health services and programs catered to veterans' unique experiences and challenges.
4: Utilize the Veterans Crisis Line: Dial 988 and press 1, or text 838255. This service provides 24/7 confidential support for veterans and loved ones.
