Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands has become just the third Dutch cyclist to win gold in the men's sprint, beating compatriot Jeffrey Hoogland in the final at Izu Velodrome. In a men's sprint final that came down to the third and last race, the Netherlands' Harrie Lavreysen has been crowned the Olympic champion in a close battle with fellow team member Jeffery Hoogland at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games took place in Japan, from July 23, 2021 to August 8, 2021.

Thanks very much for posting!! 😍 track cycling. Was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see all three races for each medal round 😕. But thankful anyway as we never got to see these events live. Looking forward to seeing more track cycling!! Please!!! 😊✨

But there are only two rounds. In Bronze medal round,the winner gets bronze medal while the other gets nothing. But in Gold medal round,the winner gets Gold medal while the other gets Silver Medal.

Il brivido dello sprint è sempre emozionante, ma su queste piste corte e senza rettilineo (complessivamente 250 mt) la velocità non ha più il fascino che aveva sulle piste da 400 mt, dove il rettilineo finale era decisivo e spesso dava luogo a spettacolari sorpassi. Su queste piste piccole e al coperto, pur trattandosi di gioielli architettonici, chi conquista la corda ai 250 mt ha praticamente già vinto perché il secondo non riuscirà mai a sorpassarlo in curva o nei brevissimi rettilinei!

The chain spins with the wheel no matter what If you stop pedaling while going fast the pedals will keep going

They never need to slow down suddenly on tracks like this, but you can slow yourself down a bit by just resisting the movement of the pedals

Kumaressan Suppiah Why do you post your comment here? And who do you mean with 'we'? Because I wanted to see this DUTCH sprint final. The sprint is by far the most important and elite track cycling event every olympics. And no I couldn't care less about the Team Pursuit Final between ITALY & DENMARK.

This replay deserves a little more dislikes just because they didn't upload all the three Gold medal races, not to mention that they entirely skipped the bronze medal final race. The 2nd race is always the most exciting one and it certainly was for this event. I don't know why would they choose to skip it when, on the other hand, they can upload hours long replays of other sports.

While I thank you for the video, I want you to know that I would have appreciated it if you had not removed the Second Match of the Sprint for the First Place. You have also not shown the Second Match of the Sprint for the Third Place. I am not at all happy about the Cycling Coverage Videos at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The rider behind uses less energy, meaning if you go hard from the beginning the other rider will just sit behind you and overtake at the end since he has way more energy at that point.

@@magnus6398 Your point is absolutely correct when it comes to long rides like road races. but this has only 3 laps. Once the opponent take over its hard to catch him. So why dont they take some guts and try to finish it off quickly?

@@miyurumadhushka6131That's how Kenny won gold in Keirin, he sprinted early and had a big lead, nobody wanted to use up energy to catch him. Races like that are rare, since it is very difficult to ride your max pace for more than a minute, since they're basically going 70 kp/h when sprinting. At speeds like that, drag is a huge factor.

It's like a regular race. The only thing is that they go slow because if they sprint through the entire thing they'll get tired. You have to win twice, so if you spend too much energy on first win, then your opponent could just give up the win and beat you twice since he's not tired.

camart explained it in a nutshell. But if you want to be technical, there's this thing we call the flying 200m. Only the last 200m is timed so you have the first 800m to play some tactics like letting the opponent to tank the wind. Your 200m time will determine your seed in the qualifiers.

Just see it like another 1 vs 1 race. But you have to add a tactical theory because the wind and attacking can make a differences..

Whoever finishes first wins, but the guy who starts last has a huge advantage. Being in the air bubble saves tons of energy. So the first guy never races from the beginning. He would just tire out and the last guy would always win. They do tactical games. As long as they dont crash or stop they are allowed a lot of shenanigans.

The coverage here in the United States was just awful. Half the time when TV guide says cycling it is incorrect. It’s usually something like poker or equally as exciting.

It's to check what their opponent is doing, they usually do it to check if their opponent is gonna attack or not, both riders do not want to be in the front so the rider up front usually slow down so they can make their opponent go up front to break the wind for them, it's a common tactic
