Menards is putting out some incredible O-Scale structures and today we take a look at the new J. Shepherd & Sons Dog Food Factory. 90% of the buildings on my layout are Menards. These structures have so much value compared to anything else on the market.

you would either have a truck dump in back or rail dump, i don't think you would have rail out front a road may be and a rail inbed road in back serving as a a silo dump/fill point to use the front as a rail landing you would likely need to add a landing to it to service rail cars as at the moment you can only service trucks up to the dock area..

Menards does alot of sales where you can save 11% storewide which also includes their Train Section. So you can actually get this for 89 dollars if you can catch one of.their sales. Check Menards website before buying from ebay or dealers. It will save you major money on the items they currently have in stock.

That is, if you live within Menards' corporate footprint, as the 11% comes in the form of a voucher only valid in one of their brick-and-mortar stores. Living outside of their footprint, I usually wait till they run an incentive in the form of a free flatcar with any $20 or more train item.

True, but they give you great deals on-line also as in-store. I recently purchased their O scale Vetters Sash and Door Co. for 109.99 and received for free a Shelby GT Mustang Plug and Play car that sells for 29.99. The building itself on ebay and through dealers is 170 dollars or more. Thats a 60 dollar saving plus a bonus light up Mustang worth 30 dollars. Pays to check out Menards site

Their buildings seem to be real decent. I bought Vics camping hideaway and its pretty sweet. I want to buy the house with the girls washing the car. Just be advised....contacting customer service is a real chore if you need to.

Love these videos glad I found them. Eric I have a question about the double power connections on these Menards building could you connect power underneath to one and then use the side connector as a jumper to another if they where close to each other? That way you'd only have to drill a hole for only 1 building. If it could be done that way people could run actual wire along power poles from the Power Station or Reactor they sell making it look even more realistic.

Menard's makes HO stuffs as well! also shipping is free if you live near a store! hate the word "prelit" Does that mean its ON when you buy it? LOL "Lights included" makes more sense to me anyway

On my O scale buildings the 4.5 power source I use has an ON/OFF switch on it. I use a universal one. I am not sure if the one Menards offers has this or not.

Eric, PLEASE but a direct link to the building or train you're reviewing in the description, so someone can just click it to get that item, and also put a link to the power adapter, as well. SAMSTRAINS, another really nice youtube channel from the UK, does this. If you're reviewing a train or set, put the Legacy station link please. It can be time consuming to search for it, and I don't know if I got the right one in the end. Thank you

I placed a link to the Menards website in the description and the model number is listed in the video. I tend to shy away from posting direct links to products because those links can and do change over time. If I post a link that works today, when it stops working at some point in the future I will get complaints about posting dead links. For that reason, I simply post a link to the manufacturer's website and then provide the model number so that the viewer can look it up on the manufacturer's website.

You can have a gravel road going up to the tunnel with a semi truck so it looks like the truck is getting loaded up with dog food

Applaud Menard's for their line of buildings but wish someone would develop a less whimsical, more serious true-to-prototype line of industrial structures. Ones patterned after actual factories, refineries, etc. These would cost more because of the added detail but I for one would gladly pay for that.

Paul Matulavich The only problem with that is that real factories are gigantic and would take up a ton of space, so they wouldn’t be able to sell something that big in large numbers. If you want something like what you’re describing, there are a number of custom structure makers out there who would be happy to make it you.

I wish they would make the lights on the roof optional, these buildings aren’t tall enough to warn airplanes. The ones on mine don’t come out and it’s a super short building.
