This 2017 documentary from West High (Bakersfield) students Edgar Aguirre, Darius Harris, Luis Medina and Adrian Rodriguez got third place out of 42 entries from around the state at the National History Day in California on May 7th. They were also the Kern County History Day Champions. Lastly, the Kern High School District honored them with a PEAAK Award for the best student film.

The school name in question is called Hardy Brown college prep is a to K8 school This school makes it so difficult to anyone who is not Africa American. It is hurting our community because anyone should be allow to be enrolled there kids at this school with a discrimination. This needs to stop. But how?

Let me carefully explain.....since many (back then) regarded the Spanish as white/European....it applied at one time to Latinos/former Spanish colonies and their descendants. That's why the case was considered intra-racial discrimination. The Plessy case was still the precedent and it complicated things until Brown vs. Board totally changed that.
The students were trying to beat the under the ten-minute limit. That can be a challenge when there's so much information. One of the team members were battling acid reflux issues as well.
