Mental health is a significant public health issue that encompasses a range of disorders, each impacting individuals and communities in diverse ways. Schizophrenia and other thought disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders like depression and bipolar mood disorder, sleep disorders and others represent the kind of mental health issue that many people struggle with. Addressing these mental health conditions requires a multifaceted public health approach, involving early identification, comprehensive treatment strategies, community-based support systems, and widespread public education to reduce stigma and promote mental well-being. By leveraging public health tools, we can work towards a more holistic and inclusive approach to mental health care, ensuring better outcomes for individuals and communities affected by these disorders. This video considers both positive aspects of mental wellbeing like keeping a positive attitude and enjoying life and mental health issues that me be considered psychiatric illness and typically treated by a psychiatrist. It is nevertheless the case that as well as important medical interventions, a wider population health approach is adopted to ensure that people have access to the care and treatment that they need.
