There are 2 types of teachers, Direct and Indirect. The direct teacher is hands on, and challenges you to be the best of the best. When you enter military Boot camp, the drill sergeant isn't your friend. They tell you what you need to do in order to make it through boot camp. Not once do they ask you what your opinion is, they tell you to do 20 pushups. This type of discipline creates a mentality that you are a soldier and they are your leader, they guide you and make you stronger. The indirect teacher is what you find at schools. They answer your questions, they give you helpful advice. They try to be as reassuring as possible and build a trusting relationship. But at the same time, the onus is one the student to come to the teacher. Because the teacher is hands off, they don't push you, they don't get in your face and tell you are are wrong. They try to let you build up confidence slowly and realize better ways to do it. different teaching styles work for different people. I can tell that Lisa had the military background from her videos. Also when it comes to dancing, Lisa is super serious!!!! Jenny comes from a independent study program in New Zealand, she was allowed to choose what extra-curricular activities she wanted to pursue. She had alot of freedom while learning. You can see different idol coaches use different approaches. Soyeun is similar to Lisa, while other idols are similar to Jennie.
