I record myself wrapping every package from beginning to end with my Go PRO. It helped me twice when I had a situation on Ebay. Once the buyer was saying she did not receive the right item. I asked her for pictures of what she receives and she did. Then I send her my recording and told her I would submit the pictures and video to Ebay. "She" deleted her account. Another time, Ebay reviewed a video of me packaging, taping and labeling. I kept my money.
I did that, it doesn’t matter . Unless u have a cop watching u pack and ship it and they’re willing to testify that u did mail the correct item. I don’t have a cop on hand as needed, do you?
I made $3000 net, just this past month . I don’t sell used clothes tho. I can’t say what I sell . I have enough competition. I won’t say what I sell but I will say I will be also be listing brand name clothes. Clothes I bought on sale but never worn. Coz I intended to lose weight to fit in it. I never did. So I’ll be selling it all. 140 pairs of designer jeans and 200 pairs of shoes and boots, jewelry, and a lot more .
I am a reseller online twenty five on eBay. Which has its own issues I hate that you have to return everything and lose your shipping money people act like it’s Amazon or macys.. Mercari is the cheapest bunch of buyers like it is a big yard sale. And I have had a few scammers. Poshmark is low volume sales and cheap on there also. I just decline. Etsy no sales and depop you can only sell certain items or it does not sell. I guess they all have there good and bad features. As for scammers sad to say it plain ass sucks but let’s face it some people are not honest..but preowned clothing is rough it’s easy to miss a flaw.. anyway good luck and keep selling
I have had that happen to me a couple times on mercari shipping I try now to when I ship something mark confirm shipping but I still forget a lot lol thanks for your videos.
Now as a seller myself there was a buyer that had zero things bought and zero transactions seller since starting immediately new buyer, the tracking number on the packing slip did not exist on UPS website the address belong to an elderly couple in Florida and the buyers name was just random letters put together. I called customer service and I said I don’t want to be marked negative for canceling, but I think that’s a scam, they said there’s nothing they can do and if they cancel, you will get a negative mark for canceling that everybody can see you cancel transactions without an explanation for people explaining that it was a scam. She kept interrupting me and didn’t provide any solution I said go ahead cancel it, but I’m not shipping out my item to a scammer, she said that’s fine. Anything else? OK bye and hung up on me.
The worst seller encounter I had was a lounge fly backpack. She stated used once perfect like new condition just no tag or wrap I purchased it. I received it opened up the box and it was the strongest cigarette smell nasty. I contacted her. She just got defensive and said no it does not and that’s on you. I said it’s the sellers responsibility to tell the truth and if you know you smoke cigarettes in your house, you need to divulge that information she said no and how dare I leave a one star telling other people. That the item came smelling of cigarettes to beware if you’re sensitive to this because she will not tell you. But I was not lying and smelling of cigarettes is not like new condition. I’m not going to go into a store and it’s going to smell of cigarettes. She did not apologize, she did not give me any partial refund. Nothing she was putting blame on me for no reason.
That really makes no sense to do that because posh is the only platform that has a set fee for all shipping! That person must have been new to posh and had bad experiences with Mercari! SMH! LOL!

Yup, I do that. I learned after my son got scammed. He sold a $100 ASAP rocky shirt (almost new) and when the person got it they said it was damaged and wanted to return it. When they submitted photos, the shirt was old, faded and had a cigarette burn on it. The person was arguing with my son acting like they were mad and saying they wanted their money back. Mercari approved the return and when the shirt got here it was the ugliest faded old smelly shirt, although it was the same brand. We sent various messages to Mercury support and thank God he ended up getting his money but ’m almost sure the person got away with a free shirt also. I also I’d a girl send me a message as Soon as she revived my bag (sold for $120) and said she was “disappointed” because the bag was all scratched up and wanted to return it. I told her immediately that the photos in the listing were of the actual bag and that it was in excellent condition. I also mentioned I had video taped the packaging process to prove its condition. Well, let me tell you. She sure changed her tune. She was like, “oh it’s not your fault I think it’s the quality of the leather from this brand. She knew she couldn’t try to scam me anymore😳. It’s sickening how someone would do that. I started video taping my items (mainly higher end ones) while holding the shipping label of the buyer right in front of it, for my protection to ensure there are no discrepancies with the description. Scammers are out there, so if you’re selling, please protect yourself.

I started on mercari and made alot selling dolls. Soon after... the fees went up.... and up... and up. Still going to this day... They are making more money than me!
I love to shop on that site and I have respect for people personally, I will not lowball because I don’t like it done to me on the other hand as a seller. I don’t like lowball offers. I’ll take a couple dollars off. That’s not a problem. I’m nice but to extremely lowball is disrespectful plus it’s already priced really low plus there’s fees you end up with losing money and then there’s the shipping issue. I have good buyers on the other hand. It just depends. I’ve also had bad buyers and scam.
I had a buyer on Mecari say the item I sent was flawed. She even provided pictures. My first thought was I must have missed that. Even though I check everything well. I said I would give her a return but I want the item back. Well I got the item back in perfect condition. Nothing was wrong with it. She provided phoney pics to Mercari. I really think she wanted me to say keep it and I’ll refund you. It was either buyers remorse or a scam. Always ask for the item back on any platform. Mecari paid for the shipping.
yeah, that definitely sounds like buyer's remorse. I am the exact way when it comes to partial refunds, I'd rather have my item be back and fully refund.
I am so sorry! Yrs I have defini😮tely heard sellers have the worst time on there! 😮 I have bought on there before the pandemic and only had one seller cancel. I quit shopping online and then in just the last 2 months went on Mercari again to buy. I have had 2 sellers cancel transactions & 3 sellers not send the item, or respond on Mercari or I after accepting offers. It seems the shipping labels auto-printed and that's it. Then Mercari gives me a hard time. The last transaction I had waited almost 2 weeks and Mercari staff wanted me to wait even longer. I said hell naw! I want my money back because I still got charged for these items by Mercari! I guess I didnt want to belive that buying had gotten so bad on Mercari also. 😔 I quit buying on Mercari. I wanted those dresses SO BAD THO! LOL
Yes it’s terrible. Someone did that to me, didn’t bother shipping or responding to any of my messages but kept listing new items. I was furious to say the least 😝
I got scammed on a brand new bottle of Thierry Mugler Angel perfume. The buyer is less than a 90 min drive from me. I intend to file mail fraud at the post office and a police report. This has changed my views of this platform.
I sell collectable toys on mercari. I just recently got scammed by a buyer. Mercari doesn't have a live help option and alot of waiting around via email.
I got a good one, buyer said nothing, but leaves a 4 star claiming Glass fell out of bag. Huh? It was a leather jacket. Nice, rolled 2 times in 2 bags packaged taped. I like my nice stuff.exatcly .my buyer looks like she was just doing it for the rate. She sold high dollar stuff.i can't see my rating s until I rate them? That s not fair, you can't defend yourself.

I am glad to see you rejuvenated in this video! I left Mercari on Jan 1 and haven't looked back. I wasn't making more than 5 sales a month if that and it wasn't worth my time for the sales I did make. I had a buyer once tell me that I was lying that two pair of shorts bundled should still be under 1 lb and they were clearly over. I posted the scale image for her and was really like "take it or leave it" At that time it was $2 more for the shipping through FedEx first USPS first class. Their customer service is trash and the whole "can you take less" is annoying. I am thankful Depop now has an offer feature and I can just decline and move on.

That started happening to me! So I started asking the PO how much does this and that cost and on a few occasions I was told that is cost much less then what the buyer had to pay. Do you all think Macari is giving people back the change on there shipping?? No!! I don’t think so!
Mercari is so shady for that, I didn’t even know we were owed that money until I got on eBay and they refund me overage of shipping which I love so much. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually keep it but when it comes to overweight items, they take it from us.

I had a lady make an offer on a Victoria secret item. After I accepted she bombed me with messages like, “I don’t buy, I just make offers. Refund my money now”! Really??
It sounds like Mercari isn't the best place to sell items :( I have been looking for a replacement for Ebay and haven't found anything that sounds good for sellers. After over 17 years there and some not so good experiences of my own, I was hoping for something else. I'm sorry for what you and other people have gone through with online selling and buying ;(
I want to bang my head off the wall because a buyer is complaining her box I shipped out same day mind you is taking too long...people are so ungrateful and self absorbed. Mind you I could have made double on this set she purchased and I gave her a free item. -_- the buyers are just as petty as the system and most the time I give a free item I don't even recieve a "thank you."
I post my items the going price. I look at different places like Etsy, Ebay, etc...when Mercari tells it is too high I know better. If I do not sell it right away, I do not care, I wait. I also habe it listed in other platforms so it will eventually sell.

I make 80% of my sales on Posh. I just heard that today and it’s disheartening because I only make like 8-10 sales a month (if I’m lucky) because my items/ buyer base so I might just leave the platform eventually.

@@blue_frost0356 aside from the annoying “share” feature I do think it’s a great platform. The fee they take (20%) is the annoying part but other then that, it’s definitely better than mercari in my opinion. Shipping is a flat rate for buyers and it’s up to 5lbs. All priority shipping and you can get the free packing from USPS.
After selling on Mercari for so long two days ago I sold a NWT Lululemon Top that weight 6oz and somehow they said the post office said it weight 2lb 🤯 and Mercari took $8.76 you can imagine what I was left with such a slap in the face. Their customer service was useless and after that I was really done with them they can care less about us didn’t even try to work with me. Straight scammed me. I am a new seller as well. I supposedly made my first sell how ever it's a bit fishy to me because they just straight up bought it never made an offer. Went to their profile and they just made the account this month 5/2022. I messaged them thanking them for their purchase and it would ship out next day which is today. I messaged them again today and no response. So I am very hesitant in shipping and have a bad bad gut feeling about it. This same thing has happened to me on ebay but I got in contact with ebay and they looked the person up and just as I thought it wasnt a legit person it was a scammer. But I can not at all get in contact directly with customer service on mercari to see if this is a legit person. Has this sort of thing ever happened to yall and how did yall handle it?
The buyer just received an LV Bag delivered today never had issues with mercari I sent I am sooo worried about the scams I would literally be so devastated. I took pictures at UPS.

I had an incident recently where the buyer asked the same question, “what color is this? black or pink?” The color was clearly shown in the photos. I thought it was an odd question and should have stopped the sale right there. However I accepted their offer and then buyer claimed it wasn’t as described 🤦🏻♂️ the shoe I sold was new with tags and they sent photos with dust and lint on the bottom with the tags removed. I am still angry about this because now I lost money on this product. I don’t understand what is gained from people doing this… it’s a shame and after dealing with Mercari shitty customer service and showing all my photo evidence to support the actual original condition item sent. 😒 I will not use their platform because of this experience.

@@VIAGLO I do like how easy to list on Mercari but the buyers are cheap. I say no to offers often explaining I like the item too much to sell under value and let them know in time it will sell for what it is worth. Also hate those buyers who send low ball offers on the first day you list a primo item.
All I get is people "liking" my products, and scammers. Posh is better, but the shipping sucks. And Mercari does not back their sellers when we get sketchy buyers.
I also sell on Ebay and Poshmark, it really depends on what your selling. Platforms vary, I’m my opinion, eBay is good for collectibles electronics and just about everything, Mercari is good for the same but at a lower price point ( really cheap buyers) and Poshmark is perfect for clothing (trendy and mature). Depop is good for vintage handmade clothing.
Shipping is high, because the encomy is bad. Pay more in gas, you pay more in shipping. Trucks have to haul that stuff. Thank you for your video, I'm new to all this very informative.
Do ship on your own. It's so much cheaper to do that. I buy my labels from pirateship. They are a great website for buying labels. And they offer shipping discounts. The account is free there are no fees or anything like that you don't have to pay to use. Only pay for the labels.
I feel you on the shipping fees! I once got dinged SEVEN dollars because the package was 0.1 oz over....and I ended up making 50 cents on the item. I felt so damn played! I feel like I used to make a lot of full priced/reasonable sales on Mercari but now I get a lot lot low ball offers. The worst is when someone asks you to send an offer so you do and they don't accept, now you're stuck only being able to send offers for less than their low ball offer.
One seller I bought the item then waited after messaging her have you shipped it out yet? With no response different days in a row. I had to end up canceling because she had no communication then I really liked one of her dresses so I tried her again giving her the benefit of the doubt because I really wanted it this time still no communication, but it did say on its way. Another buyer did those long paragraphs that she was interested in so many to hold it for her and to lower because she was buying multiple things from me which I already explained I listed very low so it sells already. Then she wanted to cancel different transactions she kept hitting purchase on so that she can save it for herself, but then wanted me to get the bad mark to cancel transaction , so it wouldn’t be on her just so she hold it for herself and then bundles it with a offer that is extremely low and I jump through hoops for her and did it anyways because I really needed it gone,she totally screwed me over for her own benefit and she’s probably gonna resell it to make money herself it was disrespectful. Another seller, I saw it liked it bought it, and then the seller canceled it and disappeared.
Good video. I'm a full time reseller and I only use mercari to sell my items u can't sell on eBay or Amazon. Mercari isn't for resellers unless you want to buy someone's stuff to flip on eBay 😉. I never use mercari shipping labels. I ship myself and use pirate ship to buy the labels. Trust me, it's a lot cheaper
I don't know why I'm so scared to sell on eBay! I just started on Mercari but I'm already seeing the issues. I've made 10 sales and 8 of them were from offers. I'm taking less than I should!
They keep banning customers and sellers so it’s no surprise the app continues to be on the decline, they just banned me after doing close to 20k in sales this year smh.
I get shoes for 3 dollars list them on mercari for 40 dollars and take offers of 25 to 35 dollars,i know what mercari is and it works for me,also you know you dont have to engage with every person that messages you,if the offer is too low i dont even bother and im 5 stars
How can you see what the Buyer has rated you BEFORE you rate them as the seller? You can clearly see this on Ebay. That allows the seller the opportunity to address any situation there may be. On Mercari, it only shows to 'rate the buyer so your funds can be released.'
There is no way to do this. Honestly, when I cared about my ratings I’d pay attention to how many “followers” I had prop and if that number increased by one once I was rated, I knew it was a 5 star but if it didn’t I knew I was getting a bad rating. BUT I think they do this to make sure the feedback is honest on both parts and not retaliation.
Mercari stole $2500 from me. Suspended my account and gave me no explanation after two years of hard work, 1600 + 5 star reviews and only 3 1 star reviews.
25:34 I actually did a scam like that on offer up. But it ain’t worked. Somehow, offer up had their address connected to the tracking number and knew I had changed the address

I fucking hate Facebook and Craigslist with a passion !!! Facebook doesn’t get me buyers and Craigslist keeps flagging my shit. Offer up is a hit or miss.
No doubt, Mercari way over inflates shipping costs. They charge a dollar more than the actual cost to ship DVD's first class. They like $4.87, yet under 8 ounces would be closer to $3.84 first class to most zones. However, Mercari does offer insurance up to $200 if a package is lost or damaged. The platform also pays for the return shipping on approved returns. So a lot of those inflated fees actually go right back tot he seller, and they're also used to cover returns, so its not like they're pocketing all of it. My concern with Mercari's shipping rates is that they're so high its scaring buyers away. I mean $4.87 to ship a DVD that sold for $5? I pay $3.50 to ship a DVD thru ebay. Of course, you can always use your own shipping methods and bypass Mercari's, something I'm considering doing at this point. I do like the added protections when using Mercari's labels, but the costs are potentially pushing buyers away.
The only problem with that logic of the inflated shipping is if I only get one return per 100 items sold is not much of a winner for me. Also, if you decide to ship on your own, Mercari won’t cover that $200 insurance anymore. I sell clothes and the weight alone I do feel like deter people from buying from me.

The cost of priority mail is getting ridiculous, and I don't see Mercari's inflated shipping rates helping to push sales. The government needs to reign in on the postal service, the rates are too high. And thanks for the great insights in the video! On eBay when I was selling my little girls dance outfit and hose that went with it I had somebody ask me if it was dirty I said no it’s been washed then they asked about the pantyhose I said I do have pantyhose but they’re not being sold with it because there’s a hole in one of them and I just didn’t think it was proper to sell use pantyhose. They requested that I send the used pantyhose and not wash them. These were my daughters. I was pissed and disgusted and I’ve never listed anything for little girls since. 😡🤬 if I could’ve crawled through that message system I would’ve rung their freaking necks! I was that mad.
Honestly mercari is better to sell on for me because its free to post. True they have pricey fees for shipping but you do have the option to ship the stuff yourself. I literally made 30k in less than a month on mercari and im still a seller now. Compared to amazon and other platforms, its cheaper. Amazon and shopify really broke my bank with fees and i barely even made sales. I did have a incident where someone tried to steal a LV bag but mercari actually resolved the incident and I got my $2500. You can also get paid the same day which is good in case of emergencies.
I agree! but shipping on your own, your not covered under the $200 cap if something happens and it's tedious if your shipping multiple things out but that pay the same day caps out at $500 so it all depends.
