To be honest, they have to. They only have 13 years of business left in Europe, after that, bye bye, either you sell EV's, or nothing. And R&D, especially rushed, R&D is expensive. Keep in mind that in 2025 Euro 7 will come along so oyu need money to meet those expectations as well or... bye bye, you can't sell your petrol powered cars in Europe anymore. The culprit is the totalitarian EU and it's attempts to further divide the society into people who have everything and people who live to serve.
Seriously, this is the best vehicle in this small car segment. If you’re used to a VW buy that, if you like a Toyota buy that. This vehicle however is 10 years ahead of any other car in the small car segment. If you can’t afford the maintenance and service costs don’t buy a luxury car brand. The end !
Always remember, if are able to afford A or B class you ain’t living in poverty. I wish I could afford that or something cheaper. So be grateful for your life. 😊
I don't agree with the touchpad part.. Maybe it's just me but the screen is a bit far to reach. My arms aren't that long so it's hard to reach. I mostly use the trackpad on the steering wheel of my pre-facelift A class. I might be going to a facelift version but I'm not sure if missing the trackpad, the fewer options on the instruments cluster and lack of physical buttons on the steering wheel are an upgrade.
Great review thank you. I totally agree with you about the physical buttons on the stearing wheel being much better. To bad they dropped those. Does it come with a power lifted trunk door?
Crap car. It is so ridiculously overpriced and has shoddy shoddy build and material quality. A Dacia Sandero feels more solidly built. Mercedes is such a massive disappointment these days. Also, removing the touch pad is pure cost cutting. It is expensive for nothing. Has absolutely no redeeming features. Everything else of this size, literally everything and anything else, is a better buy.
The young upper middle class don’t drive these, they drive the E Class coupe or the fastest BMW insurance will allow them to have 😂 The A Class is what people in their 20’s buy to flex on each other because they live at home and can easily make the payments
hahaha only peasants that drown themselves in debt to try to impress others drive this Mercedes also your local weed dealer buys that, people that wear fake Louis Vuitton purses and all these wannabes, nothing prestigious about this car. Theres tons of A-classes where I live. Real upper middle class people drive cars such as an old Defender, an old Jeep Wrangler, a Mini convertible, any other old Land Rover, convertible BMWs from the early 2000s, a classic Mini, an old italian convertible, an old Fiat 500... basically classy cars even if these cars are old. People that come from old money don't consider buying this wannabe poser car. I've driven this car and its nothing special, just a Mercedes emblem stamped on something generic. Doesn't handle like a Mini or a 1 series, cheap plastics, a 3 cylinder engine co-developed between Renault and Nissan on such a heavy car, you can see the exterior paint from the inside (even a basic Mini One doesnt have these flaws)... but I understand most buyers arent petrolheads and they buy it cause they think they will look rich or cool (in reality they don't cause its a bland generic car that you see everywhere).
The reviewer is correct. All of these changes are in fact downgrades rather than upgrades… they’re removing the best parts of the car because they’re probably eating into their profit margins
Crazy how they can just put huge price increases while also cost cutting. This car makes no sense, a small hatchback with a fairly regular engine for 50k...you have to be kidding me. A friend of mine bought an A 250 hybrid prefacelift (with some options) for 40k 2 years ago....
Mercedes Benz has not Renewed..........its Tires-Wheels😢 for 20-twenty years, they are always the Same and we are Bored😏🙄😒 Audi, DS, Toyota, Land Rover, Tesla, Alls renew their Wheels...Not Only The Car❤ 😂##2023/24 New.?? With the same Wheels from the year 2015*** Fifteen##🤣
Reasons to consider it an upgrade... Base model sport exec now has keyless entry, dual wide screens and ambient lighting. It also looks decent thanks to the 5 spoke alloys instead of grandad wheels and privacy glass. Wireless android auto/apple carplay is standard, as is the wireless charging pad. Plus the upgraded mbux has a number of commands you can say without 'Hey Mercedes', such as next track, next station, navigate home, show map and many more. Reasons not to consider it an upgrade... Real buttons beat capacitive and the track pad was great. But the little tray fits my Galaxy S23 perfectly, so I'm learning to live without it.
I bought my bmw 3 series g20 in the end of 2019 for 49k with the top of the range driver aids, custom colour and sport package… 50k for this? No tjanks
I was just about to pour my hard earned cash over an A class sedan. But you know what, mercedes isn't for me. Penny pinching the customer isn't really something that I like. "Want a drivers display that doesn't look like a 2nd gen iPad? No problem it's only 500€, oh but its part of this 5000€ equipment pack." Sure interior comfort is probably better than what I bought instead. But at least I have an engine designed by the japanese and not the french.
Great idea. Make something much more expensive but a little bit worse than the previous product. I just love You - Mercedes Benz. By the way, - M.B. cars aren't all that great anymore, the reputation from past glory days is almost used up. Cool review.
I don't know, it looks nice but if I was getting a small car like this I'd buy an Audi A3 Sportback. Wait isn't this the price of a Golf R or Golf R wagon???
The Golf R HB starts at 55k euro (58k for the Performance model). This is loaded GTI club sport money. And I'd take the non-club sport Golf GTI for even less :)
I got the A-class. IMO the A-class got a more stylish interior and more tech. The A3 its a bit boring in the interior. In a dream world I want the Mercedes tech, the interior quality of the 1-series and the cool indicators of the A3.
I would prefer reviewers to review poverty-spec car models rather than the one fitted with all the options. I felt the same thing about A-Class, until you spend a fortune with the specs, the base A-Class looks soo cheap. A skoda looks more premium compared to these poverty spec cars.
Usually carmakers want to show off their newest and greatest, hence press cars are usually generously equipped. If we take base specs Mercedes, Skoda, Mazda, etc. chances are they will all be bland, and hard to distinguish.
@@MarekDrivesENG Agreed. Whenever I order a new car, I start with the base model and then I spec up only the options which I think are value for money. For eg, recently I ordered a Volvo C40, it has all the basic stuff that one needs in base spec. And it cost me similar to highly spec Cupra Born.
Really really nice car. In fact you get the bigger dashboard screen as standard and ambient lighting now as standard. The interior in this car is the best hands down, really modern and I don’t think much else touches it.
Its a great car but I agree about the price for the facelifted version, its absurd, you get a EQA 250 for the same money as the PHEV 250e A-class. I Will keep my A-class for one more year. Its a good idea to wait for the new small electric Mercedes which will replace both the A-class and the EQA.
From what I have been reading, DCTs, DSGs and so on, are becoming nightmares to their unfortunate owners: easy to fail, difficult to repair and extremely expensive to replace.
In the past few years I have often thought about their slogan when driving one of their cars (A, B, C, E, GLA Class) and I often came to the same conclusion, that they went for nothing
I don’t get why people are still obsessed with German cars! They’re expensive and everyone is already aware of their planned obsolescence and the worse quality on newer cars and yet people buy them for the cool factor. People tend to dismiss Japanese cars like Toyota, Honda, Lexus and Acura which are far more reliable and would likely last forever if serviced well. I guess the NPCs will only see these cars as Ubers
Good review. They don't care do they. They half-assed this facelift, like the Audi A4. Last known good: BMW 3 series... Which still even has the BMW amber interior button lighting! Ahhh.
I hate touch buttons in cars like nothing else. I mean we were gifted with the sensation of haptical feel on any part of our body and our fingertips especially so why not use this feature to the maximum possible? Keep your eyes on the road and use your feel on parts so you do not need to take your eyes off the road. I don't mind having a few touch controls for minor things like the radio, navigation etc. but functional buttons? No. Volume knob, wheel buttons, AC buttons and knobs... it was fine and it should stay that way. This fancy shmancy stuff is just getting on my nerves even when I do not have it becuase others do and I can see them struggling to use it while standing on a green light so nobody can go anywhere until they figure out their controls so they can focus on the road again. Like there aren't already enough unable drivers already :D
Without the AMG suspension package it comes with a rear torsion beam. Adding decent equipment and this car is barely worth it because it the enters in the price range of the base models of A4, 3 series and C class.
Thanks for the review, Marek. Looks like Mercedes wanted to make a Golf so badly they even copied the steering wheel controls. I'm not sure this A-Class is worth the money being asked for it. I feel like compared to say, a Peugeot 308, the interior doesn't feel special enough to justify it's 'premium' tag.
From my perspective MBUX is the best infotainment currently on the market, and compact MBs kept physical AC controls. But if you just want to use Apple Carplay or Android Auto Stellantis products are fine.
There's a good explanation. I talk about it in my Tesla Model Y review, which is coming soon. Or you can watch it now: ru-vid.com/show-UCz9FxQmKDuXmSLZO4kOnYpAcommunity?lb=Ugkx08rzGNRRgWcfMtlbQ2PvwSvhKHmKuMMH
Jeepers, that low front splitter - I've refused to consider buying any car that makes driveways and curbs and, for instance, ferry boarding, less possible.
For real. People keep hating on crossovers. But normal cars have gotten way too low to be practical. I see sedans and such from the 70s and 80s and just wonder what happen to all the ground clearance. We are not going off roading. But the extra inches helps a lot in the random BS life can throw at you.
@Baron Von Jo Maybe I'll admit here, that once when I took a car for a test drive, I broke off part of the front splitter, on a speed hump. I didn't realise until I saw the broken part on the road when I'd left the car yard. I've never told that to anyone, ever. That was back in 2003.
It's hard to compare, because I don't know the exact spec. If you're looking for comfort avoid anything remotely sporty in the configuration, so no AMG-Line, no sport seats, no big rims. The same for other direct competitors. Unfortunately some of the options may require choosing the sporty trim. If you want a comfortable compact car, get a Citroen C4.
They say he doesn't like Ford and eats soup with a fork... But he probably makes the best reviews on RU-vid 🧐 If I had chosen a car in the salon, I would have missed more than I find out here. Big thx to u!!! 🤗 💙💛🤍❤
About the price, I believe it's a consequence of the unconventional monetary policies, i.e., quantitative easing, that were meant to save the world from disaster. But that has brought the same consequences money printing has had from the beginning of history.
Or a car maker that is playing on its strong (or perceived strong) reputation to short change people who possibly shouldn't be buying a car with loads of compromises and buying a cheaper marque instead - but won't because they're fixated on the badge. If people buy this, they'll convince themselves and others it is a great car - so the car maker will keep on doing it.
Ppl who buy cars like this will never understand that we can tell it's the cheapest spec and that they could barely afford it anyway. You're not impressing anyone. Stop wasting money, noone cares.
@@DC3Refom Your Corolla does it in 10s. 12s 0-100kmh if it’s an automatic. What’s your point? It’s not better. A180 has 130hp you can’t really except it to do it faster than in 9s. There are a lot of customers who never even floor their car so A180 is good for them. Anyone in need of more power can get the A220 or A250e. If one needs more there is always the AMG models.
