As a tip for your future repairs, those circular pads are SMD test points. They are used to debug the circuit and always carry an important signal. You didn’t need to restore a corroded test point for the FOB to operate. Nice work

Great fix as always, btw my purchase of those tweezers and angled 9m nozzle for the Quick came in almost next day. Super pleased with both, tweezers are fantastic no pressure / issues with small caps / res's when assembling boards. To any makers if you have not gotten your tweezers yet ( Mechanic) I highly recommend you do right away as these made working with msop 10 and qfn parts super easy to work with.

Tbh the default was directly visible on this one, because the mask wasn't in the same color, and this generally show a problem, also if you put a bright light below the PCB (for this type of PCB you see clearly the trace) also the rules is not solder a wire if not needed because this fragilise the pad, and it was totally possible to the multimeter without soldering a wire ^^.

usually the bigger round pads are test pads used by quality control at the factory so they aren't vital to the functionality of the board.

Just and idea, you could have inserted your thin jumper wire through the hole and it would have come out the other side of the board to know where the trace was going.

What I keep wondering is how a trace just bust out in the middle. That Mother board is in a plastic case. There were no moving parts associated with the trace, from what I can tell, so why did the trace go bad in the middle like that? Thoughts?

@TomStorey96

You can use them to jump over other traces, or quite often they are used to enable and disable various options or features, or even as configuration settings. In the latter two cases they may be referred to as "straps".
