Mercedes Citaro BD09 ZVK with kickdown - MEC32 (Go Ahead London)

Whilst boarding a 436 in Lewisham High Street, I saw this bus rather spiritedly progressing along, lights off, power blinds scrolling and turbocharger screaming. I wasn't to know it was in service and definitely didn't have time to get to its bus stop to board. So I took the DLR to Stratford in order to catch its return journey. The first clip is of the bus pulling into Stratford International.
A fairly enjoyable ride back to South East London followed. Definitely one of the better members of the fleet!

It's a shame the 227 lost its citaros. Will be a sad day once the final O530s are withdrawn from london service. Excellent video though! Gotta get a good run out of the 108 soon...

Agreed, the 227's Citaros were decent buses. This batch are pretty cool, they all sound and perform slightly differently from each other. Late evening is a good time to get them, but it depends on who is driving.

@@KickdownLondon Yeah, these have louder ZFs though some seem more subdued in perfomance than others. Partly why I havent yet tried to get a run out of the 108 is because of the fact few drivers will actually use kickdown on these. I did get a really good run out of one when they were first introduced in blackheath but sadly lost the footage before I was able to upload it and havent since caught anything nearly as good.

Excellent kickdown!!! Definitely worth that trip up the DLR! I know what you mean about the MECs. I find the earlier ones are utter crap and the later ones are great. Idk why but it seems I’m not the only one to notice this 🤔😕

What a flyer! I wish ours in Plymouth slipped and locked in 2nd gear like this one does on kickdown, when I plant the foot to the floor in ours it slips and locks in 1st then changes into 2nd without the torque converter slipping and locking again, making for quite a jerky gear change, but still quick nonetheless!

Maybe - but when the 232 had fast buses (the MMs) they were driven slowly in my experience!

cbreezer15 Out and about in the suburbs, we’ve got a busway route TVM (Transport Val Marne) with CG2 and Man lion city’s that stray on the route, it’s a high frequency route with buses running up to every 2mns. It’s a pretty nice journey that lasts about 1h/1h20 with viaducts ect. And you’ve got the night buses aswell that run from the city to the suburbs and they truly get the right kicking during nights especially here in Paris

These are nice, nicer than the enviro400h mmc, I was hoping they will put these on 436 to bring back memory, they used to be MALs in london back in the days, now all withdrawn and sold where, I hope they keep these citaro in london, they are brilliant, and the 227 citaro could transfer to go ahead london for the 39 at PL to replace the 66plate shitlite, I hope they order electric citaro and streetlite banned, bring citaro to london and streetlite should be banned from london,
