Bjorn Nyland found a range of 711km at a constant 90km/hr and 539km at a constant 120km/hr. Only the Lucid Air Dream Edition has more range and that has an extra 8kWh of battery capacity. If you want a car with a lot of range there is no EV you can buy in New Zealand that goes further than the EQS 450+ sedan.
Insane price for what you get. Not worth it unless you care about the silly logo.. Model Y has adaptive headlights, better sunroof, faster UI, better autopilot, better charge infrastructure, insanely cheaper price. EGS has better range, better mod cons, better comfort.
@@Dqtube I don't think Tesla is trying to max out Model S/X production so it makes sense. The new Model 3 I think brings a lot more "luxury" and the price/reliability is great.
At least it made its way back to the dealer under its own power (unlike the previous Mercedes EQ you drove) 😅. When you say cheaper to refuel than a compact petrol, is that from a public charger and includes RUCs? It’s a lovely car, but with 30%+ depreciation on EVs at the moment you’d be better to pick a used one up next year for $150K.
There are so many 'piano black' and clear plastic trim pieces on it that I expect the interior and exterior to look quite tatty with that characteristic swirly scratch pattern after 2 or 3 years. I notice you say the huge 3 screen dashboard upgrade is not glass So many of the features you mentioned as extra cost packages. I hate the way car manufacturers now do these packages. Spend thousands on a package of 6 things to get the 2 features you want. I tested a polestar that was like that and it put me off in the end.
Gavin if you pull up to a function in this they'll know your not arriving in a Toyota because it is a electric car...nb: not including the woeful bz4x.
It's Au Falcon sleek and just as ugly, sorry Gavin but with a dashboard that looks like it was a school woodwork project I honestly don't know what Mercedes thinks they're doing these days.
So, you wanted v2Grid and V2Load adapters? Do you think MB owners can't afford a stationary huge battery at home? Nor can't they find a nice place to take a coffee or have a nice meal, instead of creating a dirty mess all inside the car?
Not just the prestige value... having owned a few Mercedes-Benz cars in the past (I switched when they were slow to bring real EVs here to the US), there are some other elements that differentiate them. For a start, fit and finish. Not just good, but absolutely top notch. If something rattles or shakes, no matter how old the car is, they will find it and fix it. Then there is the service. Our dealers here will wash your car, for free. No appointment needed - just drive in and ask them. Once I watched a lady drive up to the service, ask them to wash her car and also give her a ride into town so she could shop while they worked on it. And it isn't just washing. It is a full detailing, inside and out. For free. For the life of the car. My current German EV is good, but it is not Mercedes level. My wife's Audi is the same: good, but not Mercedes level of finish, nor customer service. Mercedes is as much a lifestyle statement as a car, and, for sure, you have to pay more to be in that exclusive club.
