213 mile range?? Not nearly far enough. This EQV comes to the US it better have at least 350 mile range and a minimum 150kWh battery so when you have charged to 80% as recommended you can go that 350 miles. This is a family touring vehicle or an airport transporter. Either way the need for the additional battery capacity is absolutely needed. Hope there is a long range version.
This platform was woefully inadequate before it left the drawing board. Fitting an existing diesel chassis with batteries and an electric drive train simply won’t produce the efficiency and synergy required to produce a truly compelling vehicle. I look forward to Mercedes developing EV’s from the ground up while incorporating world leading efficiency and performance befitting of the Marque.
Mercedes is going to loose lots o money to their competition. Normally this vehicles are used for long trips and 200mileages range is nothing, them you can only seat 7 pax compare to the original one that seats 8 pax.
Nice review Nick. And a stunning Bus as well. Hope it gets warm soon so you can do more outdoor videos, I guess if you were in Scotland you wont be doing any videos outdoor 🤣
It's an enormous vehicle in person! In the past, when we had 4 children at home, we had Renault Espaces (Mark 2, 3, then 4). This would have been a no-brainer, as it is so much larger. The only disappointment is the battery size - 90kWh battery sounds fine, until you put six people in the vehicle. BTW, Mercedes recommend only charging their EVs normally to 80% to protect the battery - I wonder how many people actually implement this.
I have a question about the 12 v battery in EQV. When is it charged from the main battery and at what Amps? Does the ignition have to be ON for the charge to take place. I am asking because I am interested in some kind of "Camping Mode", wher you maybe can use a fridge connected to the 12V battery, or somthing else.
Hey Janne, really sorry I wouldn’t know the amp readings or anything like that as I only review them (day to day use etc) Electric cars will automatically maintain the 12v battery overtime, so if it gets low, it’ll top it up automatically 🤓
No...it only goes 180- 200 KM on a charge, in really day use, is it useful for highway drive with lot of people and stuff, you have to charge all the time. remember, you only charge to 80% on a trip, and run it down to 5% before charging, you have about 90KW- 15%, so it is 76KW useful, and a car in This size uses about 400-550Wh/km so when you drive at 120-130km/h, you only can drive 138 - 190 km before you have to charge again........ is THAT really useful for daily , ore Holiday drive.... Just asking ??? otherwise it is a very nice car, and very useful, in many ways ... ;-)..... so a 200KW Pack would be fine, and very useful. When charging to 80% and run it down to 5%, 200KW-15% = 170KW, useful power, ....it will give you 340 - 425 km THAT will be nice, and useful .. I think ;-)
QUESTION: HOW DO YOU TURN OFF THAT ANNOYING BEEP SOUND WHEN REVERSING IN A MERCEDES EQV. I HAVE NEIGHBOORS LOOKING AT ME EVERYTIME BECAUSE THEY THINK IAM THE DUMPSTER TRUCK
Sorry I wouldn’t know, I’ve never serviced a car or done anything mechanically myself. If you chat with Mercedes though I’m sure they could probably do it for you!
How strange that in 2021 you still have to use a key to ignite a brand new electric model of MB, which is supposed to be the state of the art of modern technology ... Anyway such a "car" can be barely used to pick up hotel guests from the airport, due to the rather limited range !
Hey Favaticus, yes true however V-Class’s are slightly different as they fall under specifications as a “van” but are sold under passenger cars in the UK. I wish they did have keyless start buttons though! Also the range is at it’s max, Mercedes physically can’t put a larger battery in as then as you’ll need a separate licence to operate it in the UK. It’ll be too heavy otherwise.
And e class and the gle because it’s based on the e class I remember nick saying in the video if Andrew remember Rightly and the a class because it starts with a the first latter of my name Andrew
Hey Harbinder, oh how come? For the size of the car, it’s literally at it’s max. The EQV’s weight is at it’s max weight limits for the UK roads, so you wouldn’t even be able to add a bigger battery without having to need a van / truck licence.
