Cruise Control and Speed Limiter would be a separate video 👍🏼 otherwise videos will be very long in length and people would click off! Plus if I put the cruise control and the end of the video, it’s already 16mins long, the people who are searching for cruise control and have 16 mins of stuff they don’t want to watch. So it needs to be separate video.
@npoleary Hey Nick, really enjoyed the video 👍 Can you please do a MBUX NTG 8 walk-through with the CLE or E-Class? That would be fantastic. I just subscribed 🤝
Thank tou so much for the video, I am in the process of buying a 2025 GLE, and I couldn't find anywhere, if the Carplay is going to be fullscreen or at least larger, on the NTG 7. You just proved me that is indeed, larger not fullscreen, on the new NTG 7. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, you just got a new subscriber.
Had mine since March. Hadn't spotted that I can call up destinations from the steering wheel. Think that might be quicker and safer than reaching for the touch screen. So thanks for that one, Nick. Literally. 😊
Thanks for the video Nick. I feel myself fortunate to have the previous MBUX with the track pad as the removal of the next track slide is such a backwards step. Hopefully this'll be fixed when I buy my next car
Oh jeez I don’t know what I’d do without the middle touchpad and have to revert to the left of the wheel haha. Totally agree. I like the new look of MBUX mind you, though mostly similar features I’d say
Most cars have usually one to two ways to control a screen so having the “third option” taken away isn’t the end of the world. I’ve been using mine for the past year and it’s been absolutely fine. Still would like a next track button though 😅
Nick, please do a detailed video on the eco mode and the various symbols that appear. I’ve just about mastered and understand everything on my car apart from this and under what conditions the charging is happening on the hybrid in eco mode. Thanks, your videos have been a real help.
Hello Nick. Many thanks for coming back to me re Andriod auto news channels keep starting each time I started my new A class a200 amg Executive. Your tip & link has worked. Cheers 😊
I’ve got a facelift a35 (which I’m utterly enamoured with!) but it’s very odd that a car with all the tech that it has doesn’t have skip tracks/radio on the steering wheel! For tall people (not me) that have their seat quite far back, leaning forward to the infotainment screen to press skip is a bit dangerous. I’ve used the direct commands at times but I’d much rather have a button near one of my thumbs. Without having to change the dash screen to show what I’m listening to that is. Still, minor quibble and it’s not like I’m constantly skipping through songs!
Being funny here, or trying to be: Do you by any chance have a video explaining how to get through reading the manual that comes with the car? I have been trying for months now, and I'm about halfway through - but I have all the safety warnings memorized simply by redundancy of repetition! Edit added: that is to say,, your videos are very valuable in understanding how the cars work. One can drive a Mercedes immediately, no problem, but learning all the "quirks and features" is not quite so immediate ....
Haha yes car manuals aren’t great. No one and I certainly do not recommend reading the manual front to back, honestly you’ll gain nothing from it. As you said it’s full of WARNING this and CAUTION that. Plus manuals are not tailored to your car or even the UK annoyingly. Best thing to do is find the thing on your car first you want to read about and then go find it in the manual. Otherwise you’ll end up reading things that have no relevance to you or the car.
@@npoleary --- Yes, I've found that too. Thus, the value of your videos. Also, it isn't the easiest to follow the Mercedes lines, or models. I think it was the SL 550 that disappeared, and the SL 55 came out, for two years, then that disappeared. People more knowledgeable than myself use numbers instead of names, like the AMG SL roadster replacing the "R231 model". Is this the origin of the DaVinci Code?? The engines are easier to follow, but when paired up with a variety of suspensions and drive trains, and tuned differently, they are unique models. I guess there are gear-heads who know which of the AMG assemblers build best, maybe even specifying their order. And then there are the options .... Some still advertise power seats and A/C - as if those were special these days. Yet the prevalent color options are few: mostly black or silver. I watched one video of a guy who apparently waited three years to find his "Green [censored]" GT R. It's not as bad as someone paying up a million for an original porthole Ford Thunderbird.
I'm still mega salty about them removing the customisable dials in NTG 7, stupid. This along with the removal of the touchpad and the change to the new, admittedly better looking but awkward to use wheel make the W177 facelift worse imo! I went from W177 pre-facelift to a W206 so I'm now in the same boat... though the larger "infotainment" screen keeps track controls on constantly. Appreciate the vid, especially considering you drove 11 miles to the middle of nowhere at 7 in the morning!
I think they just simplified it more to be honest, the amount of people I’d messaged and reply to in comments over the last few years, everyone always keeps it on the classic look. So it probably wasn’t something the majority of people used. I don’t mind the touchpad going although personally I wish something else was in its place. Ah I’m used to that 5am starts are pretty normal for me! 😊
Again very nice video Nick🙂. I have mentioned you in the past to make a video for Mercedes GUARD 360 Antitheft System (Motion Sensor + Tow Away Protection). Please add it that on your list. Thanks!😊😉
Thank you! I have already covered that, I made it ages ago! Mercedes brand their alarms as Mercedes Guard or Urban Guard but it’s just basically their interior and exterior alarms. The extra thing also now is that in can notify the app on some cars. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UDh5O64bH_8.htmlsi=4FmyYX6WgHPM9W8v
@@npoleary Thank you very much for the reply Nick. I am new with Mercedes-Benz. I just bought an A-Class A220 4Matic Amg Line and I am exploring that 😀. Your videos are amazing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Yeah I’ve literally not noticed that I say that word 😜 (see what I did there) Haha I’ll pay attention to it next time, I think they were called buzz words or something if remember, I wasn’t actually aware I was saying it that much. Glad you enjoyed the video though!
Very helpful, and one I will watch a few more times in the future as I learn the workings of all the tech on my new E-Class. One question I had is if you are using the sat nav in full screen mode on the instrument cluster can you then have the main screen display the Home Screen instead of having the sat nav maps displaying in two places? Thanks.
Thank you! 🙏 Yeah possibly, I’ve not had a huge amount of time in the new E-Class but try holding the home button then switch it to Classic (if that’s an option)
Hello Nick, Is there a way to turn off the speed sign/ warning, it drives me nuts continually bleeping and flashing on and off when I’m going 2 MPH over the speed limit, and it’s also very distracting?
No sadly not I’d like to make a video on this but all car manufacturers have this now. This isn’t a Mercedes thing. All cars have to have speed warning systems however as I review a few different makes and models, Mercedes is the easiest to turn off by far. Has to be turned off per session of driving.
Hey Nick are you able to do a video comparing the MBUX and the BMW IDrive 9. My impression from earlier versions is that the Idrive was more intuitive n user friendly but with the MBUX has Mercedes managed to improve. Please note thx
Hello Nick, After checking that link you kindly sent me re Android auto, it managed to delete those news channels that kept coming on. The other thing you have to do is.... remove your device/mobile from the car, lock the car, then unlock & re connect your mobile phone & then it with work without the news channels coming on.
Great video - Does anyone know how to permanently deactivate the audible speed limit warning? I find it very annoying having to do this each time I drive. Cheers
You can’t it’s part of UK regulations. Every new car that I review or check out has this now. I’m guessing you have a Mercedes if you’ve watched this video? I cover other brands too and Mercedes is bar far the easiest to turn off as it’s one tap away. Others I’ve tested are three to four taps away!
Thank you! You should be able to add destinations just before the “Let’s Go” button. Normally you can hold your finger on the screen on the destination to rename it.
I have a 24 EQB and not having a next track button in a car is the most ridiculous mistake mercedes have ever made. Having to change screens or scroll up and down is frustrating and the amount of times I've accidentally swiped up instead of across is ridiculous. Mercedes need to sort this mess out.
I’ve heard car manufacturers are going to be rated on their ease of use by Euroncap, but I’ll continue to mention it in reviews if a car has touch controls on the steering wheel.
Nick, you do not cover the cruise control at all, even though it is right there on the wheel, literally under your thumb. Is it that you consider "next track" more important than the speed setting for the car?
I have made separate videos on the cruise control, this video was just for the screen behind the steering wheel (so just the instrument cluster). Although I would like to make a separate video on the newer styled steering wheels like this one.
@@npoleary --- F1 and Le Mans cars have half of an airliner's instrumentation on the steering wheel (I have no idea what all those racing knobs and buttons do). Maybe consumer vehicles will move in that direction. I eliminated Porsche because they put their CC on a stick. I'll look for your video on cruise control. I use mine ALL the time (I don't want speeding tickets), and I wish they'd rigged it to resume automatically after a turn is completed, but just a thumb flick and it's back.
Yeah I’d love to! Got some dates pencilled in for cars so keep an eye out! It takes a long time to produce that kind of video though! They’re usually quite long! But yeah I’d love to
I just recently picked up a 2025 gle amg 53. I’ve been watching your videos nonstop before I picked up my truck since this is the first Mercedes I’ve ever owned. I’m not sure if maybe my and TG seven system is glitching, but I cannot create a theme. It doesn’t give me any options when I’m in my right screen to flick up , and go to the theme options I could only pick through the default themes. I’ve only had the car for a week and I’ve spent about three hours in the car trying to find and create a theme custom to my liking. I want to change some of my cluster settings and don’t really like any of the default teams… I’d really appreciate it if you could help me or maybe I have to bring it back to the dealer?
Hey thanks for watching the videos! Ah that’s it I’m afraid! Those themes you see are the only ones you can pick. There’s Trip (the blue one), Sport (in red), Navigation, Assistance and Service. Of course on Trip you can swipe up and down too!
@@npoleary thank you.. and you do a great job on your channel this was my first luxury SUV or car and the first car I've act purchased instead of leasing, coming from a Dodge Durango to Gle AMG 53 and I had back-to-back leases with the Dodge so I'm really lost with all this tech, I've been watching all your videos for the past week! keep it up thank you again for your response. I'm a filmmaker as well and your videos really are created perfectly for educational purposes!
Unfortunately all Mercedes are like this, KPA is always on screen you can’t change it. I’ve heard it’s more accurate than PSI for example so it can detect pressure changes more accurately. Handily though on my fuel filler cap, the KPA is right next to PSI so easy to top up at the fuel station
You should just be able to type something in and right before you hit “let’s go” You save as favourite Normally you can save in there although I have had a few people ask me about it so not sure if it’s changed with an update or something.
A head up display sadly is never optional equipment on Mercedes, it depends on the specification packages chosen. If it's available on a model, it'll usually be on Premium or Premium Plus but you'll need to check their configurators or brochures etc so check with dealers or Mercedes staff to know for sure on your exact model! 🤓
I been in a couple of Mercedes-Benz models recently but I haven’t heard of a noise that the eco display makes. Most new cars will have a speed alert warning if that’s the noise?
Hi from Switzerland. As always great shows! I just got a GLE coupe, I have drive assist, when I come to intersections I see a " foot hitting brakes image on my display (HUD and normal display). What exactly is this? Grateful for your response. CD
Hi! Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Ah that’s to do with Eco Assist, it comes on to notify you to take your foot off the pedal as you’re approaching the car in front. I would like to make a video on that one day so maybe later in the year!
Yes it does, it can apply engine braking or brake recuperation if that car has it. I think (without researching and looking into it), white is to take your foot off and green means if you have, but I need to look into it for the video.
Please do a video about Augmented Reality Video, I ordered a car and apparently the factory didnt install it. Not sure if is standard or it could be added.
I could make a stand alone video on it, although it has featured in a lot of my videos already. Mercedes like most car manufacturers though don’t retrofit stuff, you usually have to have it installed or selected at factory *if* it was available on the car when ordering.
They didn’t, it just depends on the equipment chosen in the car. Some cars had it and some didn’t from what I’d seen and heard. I think… 🤔 it was something to do with MBUX Augmented Reality which gave a car more power graphics.
It’s normal for a silent electric car to make a whirring noise when the heating / fan / A/C is on. And especially during the hot weather yesterday! However if it’s a “super loud vibrating noise” as you say then maybe get it checked out with Mercedes staff at a dealer? I’m sure they won’t mind taking a look.
Oh that’s for attention assist right? That means that one of the parameters haven’t been met. Probably because you’re driving slow speeds. It’s normally active on Dual Carriageway or Motorway speeds.
Nick, do you ever have trouble when using Apple car play and trying to use the Hey Mercedes voice command!?! Mine is the mbux7 version and cuts off or won’t do things I ask it… works when not using Apple car play. Cheers
The problem is you’re using two systems. In an ideal world, you’re better off using one of the two. If you try to use both you will find one may steal the focus over the other. For example if you have Mercedes sat nav on and someone texts you, CarPlay will steal the whole screen and it’s a few presses to get it back. And then if they text you again, you have to press a few buttons to get it back. The concept is, you use one or the other. They can co-exist but you may find some functions that Mercedes offer like the voice assistant not work as well if you have CarPlay on. So you’ll in this situation need to use the voice button on the steering wheel.
No sadly new generations of MBUX are new systems as in new cars and new hardware etc. it’s unfortunately not a software update. It has new hardware like graphics cards, processors, displays, wireless CarPlay capabilities etc
As far as I’m aware Mercedes don’t upgrade multimedia systems, that’s for the new models. It’s not software, I’d hardware, processors and graphics etc If you have a C-Class 2019 then it’ll be something like COMAND NTG 5.5 or something if you’ve got the wheel in the middle.
It should do… Have you had any modifications like a dashcam or tracker install? They can affect it. If you chat to Mercedes they might be able to put it back or if you haven’t had any 3rd party installs, find out why it’s happening.
@@npoleary thank you for responding. No modifications or tracker installed. I also noticed the when I open the driver door the other doors remain locked. Sounds silly but I’m not sure if every time I get my car washed the cleaners are accidentally tally changing my settings or something. It’s very strange
Those aren’t settings that I’ve seen you can adjust…that does seem strange though. When you open a door it should unlock everything and switch the ignition along with everything else off I’d suggest chatting with Mercedes or a garage and hopefully they can troubleshoot it🙏
NTG6 has received a lot of updates. Mbux can now imitate almost all animal sounds and transport sounds that you ask. Possibly other updates too that we were never told. Could you dedicate a video to this?
Thanks for video suggestion! Sadly Mercedes don't release what's on software updates (unless it's for the sat nav) and I'd imagine stuff like voice assistants are updated back end. So like Google, Alexa and Siri, functions are just improved on their servers without an announcement so it would be very tricky to!
I believe it was only on the E-Class as when I reviewed the CLE it looked like it had a new interface but the Mercedes me App Store wasn’t there. I’m presuming it’s just the E-Class 2024 that has that feature. However keep an eye out on the Mercedes me store on their website. I have seen a thing in there called “Mini Games”. Not sure if it’ll have Angry Birds though
That’s alright! Yeah it threw me when I saw the E-Class had a few extra features that I hadn’t seen before (showcased in my review) But the CLE didn’t have that, again I know specs always vary and it could just be one of the differences between the models. Or…they’ll bring it out later although I’ve not seen Mercedes ever do this to date with updates like that.
@@npoleary thanks, I was holding down the OK button 🫣and not just pressing it 👍🏻 Also how do your purchase adaptive cruise control, if it’s available on the A Class
If it’s compatible it’ll be listed there It’s only very recent though introduced this year for cars 2024 onwards from what I’ve heard. I have an A-Class from last year and sadly it’s not compatible. The Mercedes me store shows you what is for each car that’s linked to the account
