It was a lot of work but with the help of friends it wasn't that bad, the engine is from an old Mercedes bus, It has about 200 horsepower (the factory number), there is no problem the gearbox and differential is very strong from the factory, the tractor is used like a normal tractor plows etc.

@@LordTheodore04 The tracor and the rest will be fine (probably), but if you do stuff, where this engine is used with constant full load, it will die. Farming is one of the most demanding uses for an engine. Look at plowing: The engine is at 100% power for the full day. You start in the morning and you end hours later. Beside driving an electric generator or stationary machine there is no other way to consume more diesel in a shorter time. A truck is limited to 80 km/h and every hill will finally end but in your tractor, the hill is endless. Trust me that Daimler never designed the engine to survive 200 HP continous power. Our International 423 tractor has a 42 HP engine, but International put the same engine also in trucks and there they pumped it up to ~65 HP. 42 HP is the continous power and 65 HP (or whatever the trucks had) is the short or middle term power rating. We had a way to big hay tedder attached to the tractor and used it for hours at 35°C in the sun. The exhaust was blue, but the tractor and engine fine. Same day, same weather and try to force the truck with that 65 HP engine fully loaded over the alps? Will overheat. Do it permanently? Will die. And it is not the question of a bigger radiator! If it was that easy, the companies would have used the same engine with different radiators setups for different power ratings instead of designing different engines for every few HP steps. Simply keep that in mind and don't try to use the full egnine power with the biggest implements available because you now have it. Be gentle with it. You can take advantage of it at road transportation. Accelerating or going uphill without loosing to much speed, because again every hill will end but on the farmland you will quickly kill the engine. also i am not totally convinced, that all bearing and gears will take nearly doubled engine power at full load scenarios without any long time issue. Maybe you can find out, if there was an industrial version of that engine used for generators or stationary machines. the power rating of that version gives you quite a good inidcator. But have fun with it! It's a great project, i just want to make sure, that you have the most fun of it without certain engine death.

There is no need to worry, thanks for all the details i will keep in mind. I am sure this has no problem because my father (the person who made this swap possible), has done this to 3 other tractors which are 15 years (or more) older and still operate normaly.

@@LordTheodore04 was the shaft between the rubber connection to the engine output and transmission input replaced yet? In tests for adding more powerful engines to the ZT-300 they usually bent up after a short while.

This setup is better than original and it will work without problems if it is perfectly centered, my father had the exact same setup in his personal tractor, it has been 17 years and it still works without problems

Swap to the IFA L60 6 cylinder this is the better way
