@MJPilote looks great ! glad to see that the respons at low end of the turbo is way better. Thats exact the thing i am looking for. I think there is a market for turbo's like yours. You could be in the market for a lot of cars/vans as twin setup is getting a regular thing. All sprinters and vito's 2016 to 2018 have them, all vw crafters and transporters 2011 to present have them to. Golf , passat, amarok, MB E, C , you name it... There could be a business with great potential if you find the time to do so.
If ou could be so kind making a how to and the exact part nr's, we could (let) build or turbo's ourselves. Or you could put together a kit and sell it to us. No fabs on your part involved, you still could make a profit and we would have a very badass turbo... Interested..?
Agreed. I'm very interested in this upgrade. Currently looking at a DPF issue on my OM651 fitted Valente. If I'm going to spend the money fixing this it could be worth it to upgrade the turbo and tune at the same time.
As soon as I get it mounted, life got in the way. Another week or two, depending how much work I have and how good the weather is, as the fall is here and I love to ride my motorcycle.
Just saved me a bad purchase. I wonder if I put a similar wheel or similar to the factory one, but with a better design of the blades and without touching anything else, will the power increase?
I have made a dynamic balancing rig for turbo balancing. There are couple of videos about it. Will update the turbo build when I have time to dyno the car.
Hey! Nice job ! I'm looking forward to adapt these turbo(s) into an old diesel engine. Since I have little or no information, do you know if it is possible to convert the original wastegates to positive pressure? Thanks for your attention ! Bye!!
I am looking to adapt this turbo to om611 ,so my idea is to use n75 solenoid for first small turbo, and for the second big one to do positive solenoid ? But i do not know how much pressure they can handle? How much psi to setup before waste gate kick in? Thanks in advance
Great video and explanations. I am trying to figure out how to get some more power from my 2021 Sprinter with OM651 (USA version).. hope you are having good luck with your project. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Have driven around 20k km with this setup now. Works very good. Too much stuff to schedule a dyno session at the moment but during the winter it is going to happen.
@@MJPiloteThanks for your reply and sorry for the late answer. Im planning on buying a used turbo from a C250, recondition it and install it on my w204 C200. Your vids are really helpful. If you have any tips, they are much appreciated.
@@dragossoroceanu You can use either 220cdi or 250cdi twn turbo, they are the same. 220 turbo twin is slightly easier tofind and cheaper for what ever reason!
@MJPilote thanks very much for saving us from bad purchase, I was actually going to buy one of those scams not knowing what the original specs are, now I know, thank you. How do your turbo mods here affect the low end response/lag and driveability? Would you still recommend this to someone who wants to keep low end close to standard, not worse in terms of lag? The reason I ask, I definitely want more power but I don't need 350 - 400, if I can have 250-260 on the wheels I'd be happy with that, but I don't want to compromise low end too much. Am I looking at this right? Thank you
@@samsonacc8081 This hybrid I made works better than stock unit, it wakes up earlier as there is more flow through the bigger turbo so the smaller spools faster. Boost is instant from down low. And the bigger turbine flows much more on top end. I would say it's best of both ends of the power band.
@MJPilote wow that is great to hear buddy, thank you very much. Your compressor wheel is 47.15mm if I recall correctly from your other vids, any chance you remember new turbine wheel size? Anyway, thanks very much for sharing your great work 👍
Turbo is still on the shelf waiting, car broke an injector and I needed to fix that and bought a motorcycle from auction that needed work too. Now I have the flu so need to rest. But as soon as I get it mounted I will make a video.
You meaning the turbine shaft and compressor? They are normal K04 BorgWarner upgrade parts. Easy to find online. Only thing custom is the machining to fit to the housings.
Hey, great video. On what car are you putting this turbo ? What would be the hp goal ? I have a sprinter with the same engine. It has been chipped to +/- 230 hp. As i drive heavy cargo and through mountain areas, i would like to upgrade the turbo to get the egt temps down. Mine still has the pdf, and i would like to keep it that way. So is this setup something you would recommend ?
@@MJPilote how is the spool on this upgrade. Will it suffer from low down or will it pick up just the same ? I don't realy need more hp, but any torque improvement would be great. i'm also planning on upgrading the intercooler, and eventually at some point water injection to keep inlet temps down. An thoughts on that? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Do you sell upgrated turbo's like this one? Did i get this right: You are still running dpf but no egr...?
@@dirkclaes8821 yes dpf and no egr. Turbo is much more responsive now, car has wheel spin now if flooring from stand still ESP off. And if wet it spins even on third on lower speeds. Much more torque with new tune I made for this turbo setup, it is instant torque now from down low. That’s how restrictive the oem turbine is.
Turbo alone will give you 10-15hp as backpressure is reduced. Then more boost and more fuel, changing the torque limiters and about 20 other maps to get everything working properly without errors and keeping DPF happy.
Nothing to make a video about. Been too busy with other stuff. Car works good and turbo is doing turboing as it should. Feels fast. Need to dyno it when I get some time.
@@MsBot100 Well need to think about it, not exactly the thing that I do. I make prototypes and engineering design for customers. This is just something I wanted to do.
MJ I also would buy the upgrade if it was available. Very interested as I enjoy drag racing my C250 CDI coupe. Lots of toque with right tune. Thanks for the videos!
