Good job explaining what to look for. Like the business card trick to remove cover.

I have a 1995 Mercedes Benz W124 E320, which until now still runs fast and is very comfortable to drive every day. Lately there have been some issues regarding some of the lights not being able to turn on anymore. After I saw your video. I'm interested in making repairs like you did, because can be done at home and so easy. Thank you very much for the information in your video, I hope your RU-vid channel can grow and you can create more video content about the W124 Mercedes Benz car. And I would love to watch it from start to finish. 😄👌👍👍👍

Thanks Mate. If you haven't done soldering before, (like me) I practiced on some old circuit boards a few times to get a feel for how to do it. Also out of shot in the video is a big magnifying glass to make it a lot easier to see what I was doing. Good luck.

I need to replace my ‘95 E320 headlight switch, the original is “fussy” you need to turn it all the way to the right, then back it off now the lights come on. Now fuse #3 dash illumination, the rear numberplate light suddenly won’t come on (both on fuse #3) So, how do I get access to take out the headlight switch? Thanks for any help.

@@pompom11 I've not taken out the dash headlight switch myself. I'd use the Pelican Parts how to guide: www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mercedes-W124/114-ELEC-Replacing_Your_Headlight_Switch/114-ELEC-Replacing_Your_Headlight_Switch.htm

@@generalvoltage1821 the new switch works perfectly, so glad that chore is behind me. Nice seeing the dash light shining bright again.

Jej, the ‘95 headlight switch is connected to dash, seat memory light, windows button light, all courtesy lights around the driver. Also all outside lights including rear number plate bulbs. Before I changed out my main headlight switch, I had to “wiggle-it” to get all these lights ON, I’d get the orange “bad bulb” light but all bulbs were good. New headlight switch fixed ALL these problems. So before you solder put in the new switch. Give the old one a shake, sounds like it’s filled with dirt. The plastic parts inside dried-out causing all the malfunctioning with the lights I listed. Enjoy your E320, mine has only 27,000 miles and mint Cabriolet white / blue leather and top.

Hi. I have lost my NSR rail light, so think it’s a good bet to check my soldered joints. Many thanks

For anybody having an issue with one of your DRLS not working. I would do your regular checks. If u find u don't have power at the non op one. Jump the wire from one side to another. Call it a day

Hi, very good just what i needed, cant recall seen a better video. I had a taillight problem and replaced (will open and check my old one now) the relay and problem solved, however the turn signal stop working, any advice please.

Check turn signal fuses but also turn signal relay could have died. It's the one that makes the audible clicking noise under the dash and that is where you will find it.

If you mean the ability for the headlights to tilt up and down if you have a heavy load in the boot/trunk or a trailer then that is controlled as part of the vacuum system. I have not had to work on that in my car as yet. Try listening for air leaks near the thumb wheel control or near the headlights directly. Check vacuum line connections are attached to the headlight tilt module on each headlight.

Is this relay or box responsible for the high and low beam :)?
@generalvoltage1821
@generalvoltage1821 Год назад
High/Low beams are run through the module so if a bulb is out it will show a bulb out warning. If you are not sure of the reason for any issues it's worth pulling the module and inspecting for cracked solder as shown. It's easy to spot when contrasted against the healthy looking solder. There is a later version (mine is a 1987) of this module that annoyingly has the same part number that will allow your bulbs to work even if the module itself has a fault. Or so I've been told.

Hello from the uk. Im wondering what the parking/drls are as im assuming that they weren’t a thing in the uk. I cant find any info on this and would like to have my indicators as drls (ideally without drilling a new hole for another bulb). TIA.

I am unsure of why any version of the w124 would not have daylight running lights/parking lights. The bulb for the parking light is in the same housing as the main headlight bulb. It sits below the main bulb. It's the first turn on the headlight selector. I changed my parking bulbs to LED's and they look amazing as drls. I have kept the original bulb for the main beams. This link shows the LED bulbs on and off as well as brining on the main beams and the fog lights. ru-vid.comq2PNiiA4Arc

@@generalvoltage1821 thanks. Maybe its a difference in terminology. In the uk i think theyre are just the sidelights. Those Leds look great.

I have problem with the travel rear lights, its same solution?
@generalvoltage1821
@generalvoltage1821 2 года назад
Tail lights? Probably yes. They all run through the lighting control module so it's worth pulling it out like I do in this video and using a good magnifying glass or a nice well lit photo on your phone that you can enlarge. You will likely see solder that has signs of cracking. Of course check the bulbs first and any fuses.
