This fix worked for me! The wheel was stuck in up position on our '15 ML-350, ran the wheel out and firmly yanked! Afterwards, turned the "easy exit "OFF, Thanks YOUCANIC!
Thank you! Your technique worked on my 2014 E350. I first moved the wheel in and out several times then did your technique of pushing/tapping up & down while holding the button up & down and after repeating that a couple times it started working. Thanks again!

Thank you. My 2012 C250 coupe had the identical tilt adjustment problem. It would not lower. I tried your fix of hitting the top of the wheel while holding down the lower switch and it worked. I have since disabled the easy entry selection to try and extend the life of this mechanism. Good video. Money saver.
Further to this. After disabling the easy entry in 2022, in January this year 2023, my son tilted the steering wheel up and then it wouldn't tilt down again. This time the hitting the top of the wheel did not fix it. After a couple of months driving with the wheel stuck in the up position, I found your video and tried pushing it up while holding the control up, of course no movement then tried down control and immediately it freed up. tried up and down several times then reset the limits (5 second hold after actuator motor stops). Thanks again, seems this is a very common problem with MB tilt steering mechanism. I think the hex nut on the adjusting screw rod overtightens with overuse to extreme up (easy entry mode)
Thanks. This worked on my 2017 E300. The tilt up/down stopped working. I just had to gently pull steering wheel down while pressing knob down. Saved me a trip to dealership, time and money.
Thank god I was about to total my car this problem was making me so mad I could only see half my gauge cluster, I had the easy enter/exit on and it just got stuck one day and I had to half stand up while driving to se my speed. I watched a few other videos but they where tearing the whole column apart and rewiring it but this was exactly what it needed some tuff over due love thank you so much

Wow I can’t believe this worked! I have an EClass and the whell got stuck suddenly. I thought I would have to take it to the dealership until I saw this video. I gave it a few taps and it suddenly started going up and down 😊

Hi, I have a 2015 C300, in/out functioning perfectly, stuck in up/down direction. Pressing switch in up position yields no response, pressing switch in down position I have an audible click (relay? perhaps stop due to high amp draw caused by mechanical jam/resistance) I tried this method with no success yet. I hit it hard but perhaps I need to hit it harder. Are there any other routes I should explore? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to max it out going up until u hear a click, then press it downwards. As you hear the click when clicking it downwards smack it with more force than you’d think and hold the down switch while smacking it. Worked about 5th try

The dealer wants $170.00 to diagnose this problem. This is ridiculous and the problem should never happen in the first place. When people have to do this to get their steering wheel to work properly, the company needs to recall these cars, regardless. Bunch of crap.Thanks for the video.
I have a 2017 E300 constantly having this issue. This fix worked for me 3 times but not this time. Going to take in to dealer as I assume extended warranty will cover repair it. Nevertheless, I feel this suggest fix is absurd for a $65,000 car.

After beating the shit out of my steering wheel, this actually worked on a 2011 E350. It took about eight tries, I am mediately disabled. Easy exit, that wheel stays there till I die…… Mercedes wanted $1000 and they probably would’ve done the same thing
