Shoulda put 6.5” mojo woofers in there instead of those mids…either way looks awesome and i would love to do this to my cls550…it also has that garbage pancake woofer…and i bypassed it and put a box with 2) 12’s in it but really couldnt hear it due to the factory one blocking the air….
Thank you for your help! One least question, do you think it’s enough to change just the sub woofer, or is it worth changing the amplifier as well? Did you experience a noticeable difference by changing the woofer only? Thanks
Yes you can just change the subwoofer and you will here a big difference, you don't an Amp for that sub, but make sure you get a free Air sub because the trunk becomes a box,
Is the factory harman kardon sub an 8”? Also did it just fit in the stock place with no cutting, or did you have to cut some trunk lining or something to fit the deeper kicker?
@@wheelspinmedia8124 you're welcome, taking the rear headrest out is a biiitch good luck with that, I believe I made a video on how to remove it, or just RU-vid Mercedes rear headrest, and inside the trunk had to trim the sub whole just a bit so it drops in I believe, sold the car so can't double check, GL
How was the bass? I'm looking to switch out mine. Which one would u recommend a 10inch subwoofer in a custom box with a tube running up where the stock sub was at for the port . Or this option.?
@@charlievega7597 not sure why you are subwoofers rattling it might not be securely in mine doesn't do that also yeah you have to hook up all four wires I hope you got a dual voice coil subwoofer which has four terminals positive negative and positive negative. All 4 wires have to be hooked up
redbaron2448 thank u for your help I been wanting to do this for a while but every audio shop I go to wants to put in 2 12 inch subs in the back or tell me I have to buy a better amp and I just don’t want to limit my trunk soace
Yeah I recommend getting the 10in kicker free air subwoofer. And you won't be able to put the magnet face up it's kind of hit the back window also you won't get any base that way since the speaker is not in a box and there's no port you'll have to put it in the normal way
@@redbaron2448 Awesome, i found cheap 15 inch Kicker woofer, is it going to fit if i cut the opening in your opinions and should i mount it by dropping or should i put from the trunk upwards?
@@MrMesiqta It won't fit in the factory basket. You'll have to do alot of cutting to make it and wont fit up top 15" magnet to big it will hit the window trying to lower it in
Please tell me if the feed for the mids next to the sub are getting mid/high pass, in other words, do it have highs? Thinking of installing 2 way 3.5 in JBLs, Ive added JBL tweeters in addition to the stock fronts, just wired in with the doors and mounted them in front of the stock door speakers, very happy with the additional high end now.
Eric sin yeah those are ok, might not here them, because they're only 20 watts also you might hear Distortion for those speakers if you get those getting from Amazon so you can always return them. In the rear deck you need a minimum of 60 watts to 100 watt so you can hear the sound from the front of the car
Eric sin just make sure the wattage is RMS not Peak you want a minimum of 60 watts RMS continuous power those seem to be 75 Watts Max Peak which means 37.5 Watts RMS. So you're going to need something 60 watts RMS 120 watts Peak power. Look at Focal or Cadence speakers
Yeah those two pieces on the side of the rack is like if u had a box built and was built like ur rack for ur ride it's basically a BANDPASS which will make it at least twice as loud yeah bro ur smart u did it right by not cutting those side pieces out hope u make another video on how it sounds i bet it sounds awesome ✌🏼💪🏼🔈💪🏼🔉💪🏼🔊
Thank you, yes I made a follow-up video on how it sounds. Since this is a free air subwoofer it's using the trunk as its box. Check out the follow-up video also video on 2 12's 5000 watts peak
Hey quick question I just put 3’12s in my car and the volume of the subs keeps going in and out every time the bass gets deeper I checked all of my wires even replaced them does the car have some type of sensor that senses the subs playing to loud ?
Hope you have an Amp for the Subs? 9 times out of 10 the Amp can't handle the subs causing the Amp to cut in and out. 2. It's really hard to wire odd numbers of subs (3) because your not going to get the right ohms such as 2ohms or 4ohms, you might be only getting 2.5 or 3 , Hook up only 2 subs and see if the Amp cuts in and out if it doesn't that's your problem
@@dwaynecummings7687 Check the ohms from the speakers to the Amp, what's the rating on the Amp 2ohm, 4ohms, Also your Alternator sounds like it could be lagging or your main battery is low, your not getting enough juice to the Amps
Thanks I figured out the back end near the shade Was screwed ontoThe rear deck metal section, So I just opened Front pulled the sub Underneath it. Now I know there's no way getting a sub In there without cutting the rear deck Decided not to Fool with it Put everything back
La Mera Paipa 956 if you're like me and you need your trunk this is the best way to go. I would say you going to get about 30% more bass than your stock woofer and no muffle sound. Just remember this is a replacement for the stock subwoofer and don't expect a whole lot of bass as if you had 2 12".
La Mera Paipa 956 Harman Kardon speakers are cheap most likely it's blown that's why it's not working. So you're better off replace it with the Kicker speaker also is going to be like cheaper than buying a factory OEM Harman Kardon speaker
@@redbaron2448 I have never seen how mine looks exactly, but have seen pics & it looks very similar to this.. I believe I can find a 10" Kicker that can replace the stock woofer, I'll ask the local shop. Thanks for sharing!
redbaron2448 the after market sudwoofer that you istall, a fit between the metal of the car and the frame of the speaker, because the magnet of the new speaker its bigger. or what else you did
Ok . How you connect the new speaker i see on the new has a red and black connectors on the stock i don't know which is black and red. One more thing what is the model of the speaker. So i can try to get the same speaker.
carlos lopez red is positive and black is negative, connect those to your speaker wires, there's 4 wires 2 positive and 2 negative connect those to the new sub
No adding something to the trunk has no effect and neither does the mounting of the woofer, upside down or right side up, just the phase will be incorrect with one of the directions. I decided since the sub has NO separate level control it wasn't worth changing, just turn up the bass, I found what really lacking is the treble
Please bro id appreciate that ....someone told me to use aftermarket amp bcz the stock will blowout is that true? Im using a kicker comp s 600W Peak • 300W RMS • Single 4-Ohm Voice Coil
@@cg2racer no you don't need an after-market amp whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about. So I'll put up a video tomorrow since I'm getting ready for the car show. You'll be able to hear the speaker just won't be able to see it I have it all sealed in
@@cg2racer you're supposed to use the kicker 600 watt dual voice coil not single voice coil. Because the factory speaker was a dual voice coil and you have dual wires that need to be wired up
@@redbaron2448 cool yes i got one just like yours ...is their any email i can contact you at to show you an image of which one I got ...sorry just trying to get things right and Thank You very much for replying and helping out much appreciated
yo wassup man , im back i got a question for you, how the hell do you change the doors ? the lower front ones , i got 2 12s going but i wanna push the rear deck too , add another amp for it ?
@@danielparker9805 if you have a Factory Stereo your gonna get cleaner sound with new sub. You can hook up an 400watt Amp to it, or like me I installed the Android radio which has a 10band EQ for each speaker So I can put more bass to it
@@redbaron2448 I installed new kicker comp c like on video and it's hardly any bass hooking it up just like factory doesn't work is there another way , there are 2 sets of wires 1 pos and 1 neg on each side my new kicker has two pos and two neg 1 on each side
@@danielparker9805 yes hooking up like factory works, make sure you know what colors are positive (I think it was the brown wire) . Also you can make the speaker 4ohms . By running the speaker parallel positive to positive negative to negative then run it to your speaker wires.. Because I think each side voice coil is 8ohm so you have to make it 4ohms. And you cut a hole in the deck lid for the speaker to drop in so the trunk becomes the box, and make sure you got the free air Kicker
Hi, thanks for such a great video! If you happen to know the maximum capacity of the harman kardon original amplifier in watts could you please let me know? Thanks
redbaron2448 thank you for the reply! I do have another question. If I want to upgrade my sound system to Harman Kardon (I bought a donor car for this purpose), do I need to change the stereo head unit as well to have access to the full Harman Kardon sound quality of the new speakers?
@@W15Garage if you have Harman Kardon speakers already in the car the harman kardon radio has surround sound, but aftermarket radios have that to, so it's up to you, you can get Android radio and get better results. Check out my other video on the Android radio
redbaron2448 what I meant by that is, the Harman Kardon sound system has 3 audio setting options: Standard, Logic7 Surround and one more. Will I have access to these options with the original radio in my car? Or will I have to replace it with the radio from the donor car, along with the Harman Kardon speakers? Thanks
@redbaron2448 it's me again. quick cuestión you don't have a problem with the battery after you do this speaker swap. because my car after this swap keeping discharged the battery and when a disconnect or connect the battery i can see the speaker moves and make some noises
carlos lopez email me at redbaron2424@gmail.com. I get message faster that way, no I didn't have a problem with my battery sounds like you must have left the key in the ignition or when your car door is open when installing it will drain your battery so you have to make sure all the lights are off and this is going to be your secondary battery under the hood not the one in the trunk
Unfortunately I cannot because everything is already installed and I can't take everything out and redo it just for a video. But check the other videos that I have I believe there's something on the rear deck
Antonio Uzzle that's really hard to do. I would take it to Stereo custom shop they should know how to install those kits. But you can try this. With Android radio you need to find the Brown canbus wire which is on the driverside door floor panel and connect that wire to your Steering wheel wire on your new radio. Your radio might be diiferent, or search on RU-vid streering wheel kit.
