GReat! Saved $250 by doing it myself, took about 40 minutes, and most of that time was spent sanding down two bamboo skewers so I could poke them in the two holes to remove the unit.

Thanks for the great video. I changed the one out on a 2002 Mercedes C320. The only challenge I ran into was understanding how the plug disconnected from the back of the display panel. Found it and all is good. I ordered a screen from German Audio Tech. It fit perfect and lit up upon putting everything back together. It was the fastest and easiest repair I have done to this car. Thank you thank you for making the video.

Followed this to the letter, and worked perfect. THANKS! Only recommend be careful with screen since it is made of very thin glass which can crack easily.

This looked simple enough, so I tried it. Worked like a charm. It took almost 7 minutes from start to finish. My says, "why didn't you fix that years ago!!!? (now that we're getting ready to sell our `02 MB C240)

Daniel Hogan We are glad it was helpful :) It is very simple procedure. When we first attemped it we did not think it would be so easy. Mercedes charges people for a new cluster and programming which is about $2000.

Yoiu should have also removed the diffusers behind the LCD to check for dead LED back lights. The ribbon cable commonly fails from trace cracking at flex point.

@@WorldMechanics при мен долните два ъгъла (където е температурата и часовника) са бледи и стават съвсем бледи при топло време. Всички пиксели са ОК, но тези два участъка просто едва светят и не виждам показанията. Дали не е проблем с подсветката (нещо като това ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0q2wFr07AAI.html) или трябва да се смени целият дисплей?

Thanks for sharing, this was one such a simple video, I actually thought a big portion of the dashboard would go down... any way I just changed my fuel pump and after which, the gauge on cluster refused to work, what could be the problem?

Thank you for this video. I like that you added the tip of WHERE to buy (eBay $117, currently) and to buy the GERMAN made - not Chinese made - one. Great video. I did have a bit of trouble where the video came away from when you unclipped the white connector and the wide, orange plastic cable (wire).

Many thanks. If I might add a comment. When releasing the ribbon cable from the printed circuit board your hand obscures the view. For future users, the black part of the connector needs to be pulled downward towards the bottom of the cluster. this can be done with fingernails or GENTLY prying with a small pocket screwdriver. A strong magnifying glass is a great help. Many thanks. Excellent video.

this is an amazing video, very appreciated! i have the same issue but when i drive the car more then 1 hr the screen got faded, or when its too hot and my radio also stop working properly! is it anything else wrong with my car ir i just have to change the lcd screen? thank you so much for ur help.

@ Ronald Clark: Either the screen that you purchased was damaged (maybe during shipping) or you did not connect the ribbon good. Try to unplug it and try again. Here is what I have in the manual: Do NOT remove the LCD from the package by pulling the ribbon cable. Do NOT attempt to remove the LCD from the cardboard by pulling on the glass. Do NOT pull, handle, or hold the LCD by the ribbon cable. Do NOT insert the ribbon into the circuit board until the LCD is in place in the plastic holder. Do NOT pry, bend, or twist the socket the ribbon plugs into on the circuit board. The LCD will NOT WORK!

+World Mechanics Hi, did you ever figure out the SRS error? My carsoft says its the seat occupancy sensor, but when I use a emulator. The code is still there. For some reason my carsoft won't clear the code...maybe b/c it's a fake copy.

Ste .L hi, I have the carsoft fake copy as well and it does not clear the code. I went to the dealer and they charged me $78 to reset it.

Sorted! thanks however when taking out the old LCD screen the two clips holding it in are as fragile as hell! unfortunately I managed to break one of them / As a result left a slightly darker strip on the display on the side of the broke clip. Just be careful.

Just ordered a new screen. I did some "exploratory surgery" on the cluster before, and the OCD cleaning it after it got a bit dusty killed me.

Perfect, now I can replace the screen hopefully this summer. Had a terrible experiences with the screen fading after parking the car under the sun for a bit. It baffles me how this happens, my moms BMW has the same type of screens but they don't fad in heat, and her car is just as old... What do you think seems to be the issue?

Brendon Fernando Thank you for watching. I have had a few bmw's and their displays never fade; however, they sometimes lose pixels like Audi does but not as often as the mercedes display fades. It is mostly the Mercedes Models from 2001-2004 that does that. The mercedes cluster tends to get really warm. After driving for long, touch it and you will feel how warm it gets, that causes the pixels to fade

No problem, great video! Ohhh its simply just heat... Hmm okay, so why should I replace the screen at all then? I mean for my vehicle if I do let the interior cool down, the screen seems to be fine. If I replace the screen would I have similar issues over time?

Brendon Fernando it will be good for at least 7-8 years. Even when it is hot you will be able to read the new display perfectly.

Did not take me 10 mins to replace, less if I could see the plug in the back has a cross bar to push out the plug. now the display is bright.

we just bought a 2002 c 320 and the LCD needs to be replaced but I was wondering if you know why sometimes we start the car the gauges and seats and windshield wipers wont work will replacing the LCD fix the problem or is this to different issues

On the left of your Cluster ist the Stick that allows you to reset the Kilometers/Miles that you have been driving... Turn this Stick leftwards or rightwards to adjust the LCD-Brightness 🙂

No hace falta cambiar el Display, si es un fallo aleatorio, que a veces funciona u tras veces no funciona, hay una solución mas barata, simplemente poner en el cable flat una etiqueta pegada, con esto aumentamos el grosor del cable plano y cuando lo insertamos en el conector hara un buen contacto y no fallara mas, esto esta probado y funcionando en un mercedes CDE 203

One thing he forgot to point out is that the cable connector has a clip to hold it in place. You have to move that clip towards the driver's side before you can remove the cable connector. I spent one hour trying to pull that cable connector out as shown in this video. Then I looked around and found the clip holder issue. It took me 5 seconds when I moved that clip from over the cable connector.
