They can't unfortunately in part to the company being out of business and a new company change. Really complicated, but trust me an HD remake would take my money with the quickness.
+yoyoyoshio267 Still have issues with original rights and companies involved with the project. I do agree with you, just to my knowledge know of the issues that are or at least were faced.
I took this game way too serious because i knew that games like that are very rare and underrated so i didnt want it to be a waste of funny memories but my second playthrough (which i never finished) i messed around way too much with cheats and then it started getting funny 😂
This game is the #1 most underrated I've ever played. It truly "did everything right". Long campaign with a challenge, open world, keen sense of militaristic detail, tons of cheat codes, and a perfectly-captured ambience I have never seen in any other game. It never tried to be a GTA copycat, it truly did its own thing.
I don't think it was underrated, so much as simply lost. It was loved when it came out. The sequel was... not bad, but so very not bad. And EA took it and it wasn't heard from since. A simple but tragic story.
Before cancer took my cat, 3rd grade me would start up this game, and when she heard this music, she would ALWAYS come to my room to sit in my lap and fall asleep. Oh the memories. The foggy, always overcast weather of this game is truly part of what made this game so special to me.
I'm not big on names, but this soundtrack really helped make the game, it got repetitive after some tens or hundreds of hours but STILL wasn't that bad, I imagine I'd love everything from him. I'll have to look him up sometime.
Speeding towards the water with a car full of passengers and diving out at the last second, Sniping the pilot who tried to deliver vehicles to you :) Tricking the delivery pilot into winching you and flying you away :) Driving the Allied APC on top of fallen fences to do ridiculous stunts. THIS GAME WAS LIFE.
***** Pandemic captured large scale epicness so well. Sure their AI was meh and their games sometimes felt a little rushed and buggy, but man they were so epic. Battlefront 2 and Mercenaries had such great battles with so many vehicles and soldiers at once. Then their games on the next gen were very disappointing :(
Mercenaries 2 was horribly rushed by developers not yet comfortable with the next generation of console development. Mercenaries 1 was a perfectly crafted masterpiece without equal even today. The soundtrack kicks, too.
Facts. I liked them both for different reasons though I definitely feel that at least on the PS2 version they expanded on what they got right and made it better. Though the graphics on the PS3/360 version were better and the missions different. Would definitely buy a remaster of either though
Nostalgia trip, the best part for me was near the ending where you captured the final target and rushed back to the helicopter and prevent nuclear war.
There were a lot of marks in the game, but that moment was always very intense, every single time. It made you want it again, and more. The game designers made gold with this game. And due credit to the music team for supporting that.
I remember failing missions I've completed by driving back to base to turn only to fall victim of my greed by looking left or right and spotting a new tank/chopper...
I'm 31 and I just popped this into my old PS2, still holds up and man that theme just floods my memories. Next time my nephew is over, I'm introducing him to this.
@@killerofold 2 was basically just 1 but with jungle and Venezuelans. I loved 2. But yeah, all the Just Cause games are pretty close... But I do wish they had multiple factions like Mercenaries.
This was among one of the 5 games I bought for just 20$ at a garage sale when I was like 10yo back in 2008 😂 original price was 20$ a game but I bought all 5 games for 20$ which was a huge steal. This and The Punisher were my favorite games at the time.
This song holds so much nostalgia for me. I used to watch the whole main menu just to hear this song. Man......I probably logged over 500 hours on this game. Back when I was 7 years old lol
Oh sweet memories live on forever in this game. Spending ages in the northern province trying to snipe the pilot of an AH-64 Apache while hoping he doesn't crash into the nearby mountain. I was 11 when this came out but it had me playing till well after midnight most nights because it was so captivating!
I actually used this song to pass basic training I memorized it and would hum it whenever I’d get down. If I forgot it I’d remember pausing the game then then it would fully load into my mind and I did it over 40 times
Literally one of the most under-rated games of all time and possibly even an under-rated soundtrack! This song still gives me chills and it could rival themes from Star Wars and Indiana Jones❤
Over 12 years and this theme is still great, if i had a working ps2 and i found the disc for this game i would spent all quarantine playing through it.
@@Hellyeah2heaven Dude trust me as much as i love my playstation 2, this game doesn't even run good on PS2. You're much better off getting the orginal Xbox version or like he said on Xbox One.
I will always remember when i found this game in the gaming shop, the sellor of the shop was passionated with video game and he didnt knew this one, but told me that he heard good things about it. When i was home and i played it all night, i tought about this guy, i was like "man, if you knew.. this game is awesome" and years later i was still playing this game thinking " i hope this guy was able to try it, i wish i could thanks him because it's one of my favorite game".
I've been whistling this song for the last years almost. I love this game so much, it'll be with me forever. I have 3 terabytes of SSDs dedicated to original Xbox, PS1, and PS2 emulation. I have to say, for game that came out in 2005, it honestly looks pretty damn good in 8K upscaling at 60FPS. Playing through the second half of the game this week. Never gets old. Mercenaries 2 is next playthrough. After that... You know it's gotta be the other gem, BLACK. Black is another game that looks good in 8K. Brings new life to the game. Let's not forget Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on PS2. Many sleepless nights playing BF2 on PS2 online. Backstab and A bridge too far, the best multiplayer maps I swear. I miss those days. Simpler times.
In a world where everything gets a remaster where the hell is the Mercenaries one, this game was fantastic and its sequel sucked ass, damn I wanna see this again
If you play on PC, you should look into PCSX2, it is a PS2 emulator. I played this on PS2. It runs amazingly on the emulator and I'm having a hell of a good time reliving my early teenage years with it.
Luckily my ps2 still works and I can easily play this anytime. I love the main theme and the composer (would put name but I don't know how to spell last name) and the other songs in other games. (also the games) :-D ---2015----
If you own an Xbox 1 right now...I recommend getting this game for free....it’s free for the week...so if you own an Xbox1 I recommend hurrying to play it and get it forever
This game had so much to do that I think I've put about 500 hours at least and haven't even passed the whole game because of the amount of content and activity you can do always kept me busy
What an epic theme song! Every time I hear this song, I will remember all the good times I had with this game, and probably will always be one of the best games I have ever played.
I remember when I just wanted to rent a game from Blockbuster. I saw this game and just thought it would be something to play over the weekend. That was 7 Years ago... This game will always be one of my favorite games of all time. ;~;
I realized this just now. The the conductor for this game also did the soundtrack for the Star Trek film "Into Darkness" and Pixar's "The Incredibles"; Michael Giacchino.
I love this song, and the entire soundtrack. This is so theatrical. I can see an unmodified version of this song being the opening theme of Mercenaries: The Movie. Where it shows a war-torn country North Korea, and as soon as the actiony-part of the music plays at the beginning, it zooms in on the headquarters of the Merc HQ.
Back when I was so young, I had nightmares of a crazy giant Mickey Mouse plush flying at me and eating me, and one of them actually used this music (which starts at 0:40 and ends at 0:47). What the hell...
Дмитрий Терентьев Well it's pretty simple, I mean you had played the game before and just remembered that part of the track; your dreams just used that memory because it was one that must have influenced you a bit. It's a good track.
The world truly felt alive with little battles going on here and there. The sound design was great and overall I have no complaints. It is as far as I'm concerned a timeless classic. This is a great game. Audio is just superb. Even so many years later.
Awesome game, one of my top 5 favorite Xbox games. Mercenaries, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Star Wars Battlefront II, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I've never been able to afford the 360, but I still have the original Xbox. I've never really cared much about graphics to begin with.
great levels, didn't have to do all of them, great story concept, best game music ever, great sandbox, blow up or hijack anything; even buildings, you didn't even have to do the missions, best game ever
The years 2024 and yet there is no remaster of this game lol But it's way too good from the destruction physics to the literal combat that you pace through, not to mention the story and music comp.
Listening to this in mid 2024, thinking back, this would not be out of place in an early Medal Of Honor game. Just checked. And that's for good reason as Michael Giachino also composed those games. I feel like I already knew that actually.
Absolute ownage. I've always wanted to know who composed this track, and for a while I mistakenly thought it was John Williams. But the actual composer is Michael Giacchino. An excellent opening track.
Game desperately need a remake, especially since DAH 1/2 got one, I'm replaying this on PCSX2 and nearly wept hearing this epic theme track, perfectly captures the atmosphere of the game
+TheJas378 When I bought drop, and tried to catch the chopper, running on tank's guns, fighting with the korean soldiers and more. And your moments, and who is You favourite guy? I always Player this guy on right. So, tomorrow I will play Mercenaries. ;) Ps. Sorry for my English I'm form Poland. ;)
Eu adoro essa música o 1 mercenaries também foi um dos melhores. Os jogos de ps2 tem muito mais ação. E qualidade gráfica tem gráficos muito bonito isso gue é gualidade gráfica
I like the first part of the first level when this plays the entire time your fighting. In the middle of a rainstorm Against dozens of baddies. Helping the UN soldiers Getting air bombed by the baddies. All at the same time. While this music is playing. There's nothing better.
+556deltawolf They could make a 3rd installment taking place in the Islamic State! then you'd get to work for the Iraqis, Kurds, Syrians, rebels, etc against ISIS
