if you watch holtz closely he does nothing but turn over the puck. He’s young and trying to do too much as of now and hasn’t impressed at all. Easily could be replaced by tierney or noesek as of now. He’s been really bad so far this year.

Where are the net crushing plays, why no one on the team can do tip ins like Kreider, where is Tampa Bay style powerplay with Kucherov fake shot and passing into the slot and the crease? So many doom and gloom comments on here. I mean I get it, the team is losing. We're all frustrated. But just breathe a little. V² needed to make that save on the 2nd goal. Akira's lone goal against was a 2 on 0 with Bahl making an aggressive mistake. Not a lot was given up, though. I won't question Lindy either, he obviously knows more than any of us (or he'd be up in the stands with those calling for his head rn). I just hope the team responds, and soon. At least the Caps weren't walking in on us at will like last game. Still sloppy, but that part was better. With the regression showing on D (very understandable) and the injury time accrued, NJD is probably looking at competing for the 3 seed/WC spot. Not where we had hoped with all the hype and coming off a historic 22-23, BUT as long as they make the dance with a relatively healthy squad that's frankly all that matters from now until April. Man, we played only one playoff calibre team in the Avs, maybe Cats being the second one. And yet we are losing to the rest non-playoff teams. Imagine what playoff teams will do to us. Scary times!
@@sst6601 don't know where you've been the last decade, but the Capitals have ALWAYS played NJD well in that timeframe - with or without 86 & 13. That's two losses. Blues, they lost 86 early and they were deflated (and tired, second half of a b2b, in your second road city, that's usually tough - they then had to make up for Jack's TOI dbl shifting tired players on top of that). Avs are the Avs, they beat NJ at their own game and their system play was much better than ours (13 odd man rushes). FLA was desperate for their first win and Bob played insane for the first time this year. SOL to the Yotes was a coin toss. You can look at the record results, or you can decide to look at the context a little as well. It's not an excuse, but it matters to know how they got here when evaluating. We're all super disappointed, no matter what. I get that and share in it. If you want Luke Hughes and Kevin Bahl to grow into good everyday players for this team long-term, all while being forced to play Smith with injuries to depth players, it's more like necessary times than 'scary times' on defense for them to become the players we want them to be. They're gonna make mistakes and be worse than Graves/Severson at times. Collectively the team isn't playing committed to D on top of that, and that's what Ruff is so frustrated by. We can agree to disagree on all that, but that's my $0.02 USD after watching his team for 2.5 decades, not seasons. We're still in good shape the next 5 years, and it's very early this season. 86 & 13 should both be back sometime over the 11/24-11/28 homestand (my guess). We can deal with the results being what they are after ~5 more games with ~65 to go. There's still runway at that point and Fitz is gonna find out a lot more about this team in those 5 games coming up. LGD

2 shots on goal for the first period is a joke... losing every foot race, every puck battle and overpassing the puck. What is the point of having Meier, Bratt, Palat and Tiffoli if we cant get more than 2 shots on goal. How after giving up double digit oddman rushes the game before we STILL arent having our defense play back? We gave a up 2v0! Bahl calling for puck aggressively, completely missing the net and then not getting back to play defense was PEAK Devils defense. Maybe it wasnt a good idea to let go of our actual defensemen and replace them with forwards who are too slow to play forward (Hamilton/Seigs)....
