I have the same exact set up on my Mirrocraft 16’ aluminum runabout. 30 mph gps with me (290 lbs) and some gear. Those 25 Mercs of that vintage are beasts.
vojomatusenko It planed itself out at high speed. The Mercury 9.9 & 15 hp weigh about the same, the 25 hp weighs much more. I've seen you get a 15 hp up to 28 mph, so I don't see the need for a more expensive, heavier motor for just a few extra mph. Am I incorrect?
The 25 will only still top out the same 6000 to 6200 rpm but it will pull a loaded boat to Max speed with more authority. This light boat would go much faster than shown with more pitch on the prop and carefully setting motor height
Y'all act like that's crazy lol down here in Golden Meadow La. we always do that. I have a 30 Nissan on a 14 ft aluminum flat boat it does between 35 & 38 mph depending on WHO or what I have in the boat.
