I have a 9.9 kicker. I can’t help but wonder (since it will be sometime before I can purchase again) if there would be some advantage to 15 HP?? Yes, they are more expensive, but: 1. If on Big water, wouldn’t the extra power do a better job of getting you home, in the case of mail engine failure? 2. The 15 has a bigger alternator that would provide a more substantial battery recharge will trolling. 3. Brands that have EFI would seem to vastly enhance the ability to control engine RPM and therefore travel speed provided the right prop pitch is available. Always wanted to ask. Thanks.
Yes you are correct. Also have to take boat size into play. Don't want a 15hp on a smaller boat even at low RPM you might be trolling too fast. Winds always that factor that hard to decide. If your main goes on on Green Bay that 15 Hp and cell phone are your life line.
