If one wants to plane w their bigger e-outboards coming in the future I hope they have the battery separate so it can be further forward. Ideally in the bow.
Good point and good idea for the epropulsion designers! I had same issue with my small 6hp gas OB. It had an internal tank but when I hooked it up to bigger external tank it was placed in the bow for same reason - weight distribution for planing.
Is it called the "7.5e" because it produces 750 watts of power? So that's what, seven and a half hectowatts? Nobody uses the prefix hecto- so this seems like a strange choice.
Hey Lee. Agree. The naming convention for marine ePropulsion are different and confusing. Old salt boaters like me still need to relate to Horsepower. However, I have been told that one reason they (the ePower market) have gone this way is to 1. rate power consumption and 2. adopt a scale which better relates to the performance (?). Until the electric outboards take over the popular market, I guess it will continue to be confusing AND I will always relate to horsepower. But that is just me. -TGB

Could not find an answer on any site! Did find a price around $3600 on line,with 1 battery! New 3.5 gas about $1500. Twice the run time on a Qt of gas!
@@Happy11807 I think we (boaters) are all waiting to see how the ePropulsion Boating market shakes out for pricing, infrastructure, availability, power, etc etc. Early adopters are clearly excited but, in my humble opinion, it will take a little more time for broad acceptance. I think if pricing was comparable, most boaters would consider purchasing electric. It took some time for the automotive market to adopt ePower. Now I see Teslas (et al) and charging stations everywhere.

The parts are coming from around the world and the final assembly (plant) is at our wiring facility in Mexico which is a wholly owned manufacturing facility of Mercury."
