There is a magic I find with Mercury in Pisces (maybe I’m biased since my Mercury is at 27 degrees Pisces)... a certain alchemy that comes with disregarding logic and free falling into the journey with utmost faith. I’ve been reading the Celestine Prophecy, 10th insight, and now The Secret of Shambhala.. and the journey of the narrator feels very Mercury in Pisces to me. It’s all about following the signs, following the animals and heeding their message. From my perspective it’s like interpreting life through its symbols and archetypes; perhaps sometimes we grasp for meaning too much and it pulls us out of the present, this is true. But it feels like a “I speak only when I feel my words are loaded with meaning” placement. Like mundane conversations bore me, same with small talk or even those dense conversations that are based in logic or negativity. I feel that Mercury in Pisces understands that our words are magic and our mental processes are magic. I feel the mature, balanced, healthy version of this aspect is able to be a psychic channel, a sage, a hermetic monk, or an alchemist. It can be really hard to communicate with the world, unless the world this placement meets is of a purely spiritual nature. I am the person that goes to a bar and doesn’t feel like I can start a conversation unless I’m offering a tarot reading, because small talk makes me uncomfortable, anxious and bored. I don’t feel like I can relate to people sometimes, and feel the draw of monastic life, or that of a retreat center where my only interactions are of a highly spiritual and nurturing nature. There is that neptunian escapism there, of craving constant connection with the Divine in obvious and somewhat debilitating ways. I could see how Pisces could be Mercury’s detriment, in that sometimes the words elude me to express what I mean to say, and so I must speak in archetypes, poems, or riddles.. or allow the silence to permeate the conversation until what feels like a higher source can speak through me. Logical people are annoyed with me and feel I am self-righteous or trying to impose my spirituality on them, because I do not fetter my mind, generally, with the mundane. In the past, I could absolutely see the self-righteousness of the first transcendental experiences. And the part about pleasure taking away the ability to clearly communicate is absolutely relatable - food and TV drain my ability to communicate with precision and clarity. I mostly adore this placement though and am grateful to have Mercury in Pisces.. it feels like a spiritual bridge to me. I know spirit speaks through everything, but the intentionality behind allowing something greater than oneself is how I experience this... the shadow obviously accompanies that and humility is needed to bring balance. Timely, sir. Very timely. I prayed for discernment. What a struggle my day has been. I've been driving myself crazy today demanding that the true nature of my reality make itself known. As though I can will clarity and understanding into my mind by meditating. This theme of not being recognized for what I am doing haunted me all of my life on various topics. It would be interesting to list all the books you read if you can! I have had clarity and understanding in my thoughts on a particularly topic. I'm Pisces sun and Pisces mercury in tight conjunction. Cancer rising. I find myself quite deconstructive and sometimes neurotically focused on details with virgo ruling my 3rd. North node in 3rd, and pluto in 3rd. At the same time I can be super spacious and vast. But I tend to oscillate between the two rather than be able to synthesis this paradox. Listening carefully. I am feeling some relief actually with this entry of mercury transiting into Pisces.... I don't know why. Oh my gosh, your exploration of insignificant is so helpful. I really relate. Because this is on my 3/9 house axis, I find myself very much in a constant dialogue amidst emotional turmoil. Interestingly, and after the fact, I realized I am experiencing a repeat of a 2016 situation. I wrote up a then and now comparison, and can definitely say I've moved on and let go. The new situation happened the day Neptune and Venus conjuncted my natal south node. One tangible experience I received by way of taking up astrology as a tool for understanding the events in life.

I could sort of see the Venus/Mercury tension possibly playing out with the vaccines/opening/spring breakers/optimism/desire for normal etc. with the variants of concern spreading and much of the world being as yet unvaccinated and in some places still locked down.

Mercury is currently in opposition to my natal Mercury. I shudder to think what I might say in the next day or so. Yesterday I was consciously rude and delegitimizing to someone in chat and I really tried not to be, because our training is niceness, but the still small voice insisted. I hope that person benefited from it, because it was painful to me. Without going into specifics, someone was being negligent of someone else, and it got to the point that appealing to their better angels wasn't working. At that point one learns to stop feeding them attention, and that was what I wanted to do, but "something" kept telling me to go back and shock them with the mirror. So I did.

I am Pisces with 2 planets in same. I have always sensed .multiple layers of reality. But I have taken for granted that much of this is beyond my understanding. However there are some times when some facet does catch the light in a way that proclaims itself as a part of the truth. Then I incorporate it myself and I am changed. Synchronicity seems like an eternal work of art and sometimes it points out to you that you are playing a part in the creation in tandem with spirit and you just keep walking the path that reveals itself.

On another note, I loved this chat, specially because that experience you shared about the Ayahuasca ceremony, it happened to me and I could really understand what you meant. At one point of the ceremony I was horrified, I felt eeeverything, felt so much and could actually see everything in just tiny particles that I was almost blinded. I could not follow any linear thought, it was just so scary to lose myself that I could not comprehend I was being helded at the same time. Being just part of the inmensity, later on I could ground myself and let that fear humble me.

As my Mercury in Pisces is in the first Pisces decan I can already feel so much more as Mercury begins to enter the arena of my natal Mercury. Mercury transforms my cerebral thought into knowing by feeling. And so it has always been easy for me to be able to see and know. I do not think this is a negative placement however I believe young people with this placement may suffer until they learn how to work with it. This placement provides intuition if other parts of the chart also. support access to alternative psychic influences. Lately I see through my mercury eye more climate change that will cause suffering on our planet. Secure your home, warmth, food, clothing. The basics are needed to educate your children now. Acyuta - I very much appreciate your understanding of Pisces and the eloquent way in which you describe us - No we are not all dancing naked in the rain ALL the time, but we definitely enjoy enjoy the freedom. Mercury in Pisces has given me a much different approach to the mind/learning than most people I meet. I learn by letting the information wash over me - an immersion into the information without my trying to contain it or define it... then it becomes KNOWN to me deeply. Math was a breeze with algebra and geometry - it just made sense. When I learned meditation, it was as natural as walking. However, communicating information to others is difficult. I often feel like I am in my own world and even as I write this I wonder - will anyone really understand or is this insignificant to others?? Great talk on a significant topic :)). I was thinking of news media and social media and our general obsession with sense-making. A letter of forgiveness I once wrote (a long time ago before email, perhaps when Mercury was in Pisces) got wet in the rain and the ink ran so it was unreadable, but I never knew until much later. The intention was significant, but maybe the words were not?

Cancer rising, hopefully mercury will give my moon in the 9th the mental faith to communicate and organize these travel plans 😬

Personally I'm so relieved to have Mercury out of my 12th house and away from being square natal mercury. I had a palpable shift today with the ingress and got busy catching up on calls, emails, plans and activities that I'd been putting off and uninspired for preferring to hide from the world and my responsibilities in my deep dark and all too familiar 12th zone.

Here's how I see the Venus-Mercury dichotomy: Venus is peace and Mercury is chaos. Venus and Mercury are similar in a number of ways, seeing as they both rule signs of the same triplicities (and thus their domiciles trine), but they work towards conflicting ends. If Air is freedom, Libra is "allowing" and Gemini is "chaos". If Earth is order/the material world, Taurus is "nature" and Virgo is "correction". The theme is that Venus accommodates and blends things together, while Mercury separates, distinguishes, fractures, etc. Venus has everything to do with similarity, where Mercury is all about change. The common ground is adaptation, because these are both very flexible planets, but Mercury has a strong distaste for sameness, where Venus has a distaste for differences. In Pisces, everything is one, and differences are overlooked for the sake of the greater good, the big picture, etc., which bodes well for someone who is a fan of harmony, but not so well for someone who prefers discord.

Being a medium for concepts can be overwhelming for the rational Mind and sometime the Micro (Mercury) must surrender to the Macro (Jupiter) to Feel its place rather than understanding it. The conceptualization of all potential forms (Jupiter) and the Definition of forms (Mercury) work well together if they respect each other's roles in Creation.

OK then - this was a little "trippy" - and very Jupiterian - philosophical. My first instinct is to say Mercury in Pisces = "Give up the need to know", but really, that is about meaning- which interestingly enough is what the sign square Pisces and Opposite Mercurial Gemini is all about. That is, Sagittarius, another Jupiter ruled sign. Sagittarius looks for meaning, symbols, everywhere, and is not concerned with the facts or the details. Neither is Pisces. It is natural for humans to search for meaning - see Victor Frankl's MAN' SEARCH FOR MEANING. This assignment of meaning to our lives kept those in Nazi prison camps alive. There was meaning in their death and their attempt to survive. Mercury is not about meaning, it collects information and processes. What kind of information is Mercury forcibly processing in Pisces? Non linear, the imaginal, the indefinable, the elusive, and that is why is is not at home here. There is the vastness - there is too much information to process, so there is a shut down. So maybe mercury in Pisces IS giving up even trying to makes sense of things. I am Mercury ruled and am not looking forward to this.

Would you say that what you described re: Mercury & Jupiter would apply to a natal Mercury in Sagg? (It’s conjunct Sun, square Libra AC + in 8 deg conjunction with Venus in Scorpio). I feel particularly balanced right now (which I had been attributing to the energy of the nearing equinox), but it’s like the current energy is balancing out my chart in a way that feels juicy and grounded, with a greater ability to be present than ever before. I’m recognizing my routine battles of beauty/sensuality (Venus in Scorpio, Libra rising) vs. reason/logic (Merc/Saturn/Sun stellium in Sagg), as a witness rather than being on the court tumbling around. Maybe I can feel my natal Jupiter in Aquarius maturing here, like he’s finally getting a chance to teach the kids how to play the game! I had really harsh day yesterday, broke up with my partner after 3 years (first time) and I feel like it was all about the meaning of detachment like the Mercury in 29 Aquarius was pushing so hard to remember not to me dependent and more detached from what it is and remember about absolut freedom for myself. How it expressed for you? I felt it really hard, detachemnt from every aspect of my thoughts about how it will be, and now after Mercury entering Piesces I feel different, like it doesnt matter.
