Thanks zo much for sharing this video. I have this exact carb from a 1978 Nercury black max 200hp that ull be wirning on this weekend. I have zero experience with carburetors so you walkthrough will be priceless! Great job!
Thank you. That’s kind of you to say. It’s not a hard job. Just take your time and make sure you clean everything well. Tiny particles can create issues. But you will do great. I’ve had carbs before that I thought we clean and all it took was small junk. These carbs thankfully don’t have too small of openings. That helps a lot.
I’m sorry about that. Those brass fittings are very soft. They do break easily as you now know. At this point I might try a broken bolt remover and see if you can get a bite on what’s left. I’m talking about the drill bit kind that you turn in counterclockwise. That may break it free. You could put it in really hot water first to see if the helps it break loose. If you can’t get it out you will need a new bowl anyway so why not give it a shot? Just my thought about what I would do.
I’m not sure. It could be the float is filling up due to a crack or hole in it keeping it from shutting off when the bowl is full. Even though the float moves freely it can still fill with gas and not operate like it should causing the gas to continually flow.
Thank you so much. Can you explain what you mean by book service? If you mean what service book I am using, I only have a manual for this motor I bought online. It's pretty good. I don't remember who did it. Chilton I think.
A question please, if anyone knows, the vacuum line to my number three carburetor (bottom) is broken, will the motor still run without it, it seems to be running time on the hose. Thank you for the answer God bless you and your family. SJ
Hi there. I"m not sure how it will affect the running. I do know that a vaccum line is there to make sure the motor has the air efficiently. You may notice it more at high speed by getting a rougher run and loss of fuel economy. Not that these are great fuel economy machines but that could make it work harder to do its job and therefore require more fuel.
Also Keith, the vacuum from the pistons produces the pressure to regulate the fuel pump. That's how the diaphram operates, off the vaccum of the motor. It may affect the fuel mixture from the carburetor if there is not vacuum line. I'm not 100% sure.
Thank you for asking. I completely forgot to put that in the video. Here is the link...www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXKXKZD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
