In this new series, I am going to try to show users all kinds of good information for maintaining your Mercury ProXS engine. Mine is specifically the 115 horsepower, but much of this information would apply to other engines in the ProXS series.
In this video, I show every single detail I can possibly show for taking the lower cowling off these engines. I hope you enjoy!
Please consider subscribing to my channel so I can continue to make these helpful videos at this level of detail.

Awesome video. Last summer I needed to remove mine but like you said, it felt like there was still screw in there and I didn’t want to break the cowling. Thank you for taking the time g the time to put this video out.

Great tutorial on removing the starboard side lower cowl. I bought the Mercury Service Manual $100. However, after removing all the same screws you did, that cowl felt exactly as you described. I couldn’t get it to pull away from the engine, as if it were stuck or I had forgot a screw somewhere and I didn’t want to break the cowl. So I stopped and was lucky enough to locate this video which is a huge help even when you own the manual. I drew an outline of my engine on a piece of corrugated cardboard and punched a hole where each screw went and stuck that correct length screw in the cardboard hole to prevent getting them crossed. I drew a detail separate for the odd facing ones or the latch mechanism. I am going through this to access the shift position sensor and harness. My engine starting running very rough right at and above 2500RPM’s but starts fine, idles fine and runs smooth up to the 2500 RPM mark. Thank You again for this effort you put forth to help others!

Very good explanation but I would’ve like to see you actually take the it apart completely so you can see how it Hass to be finagled back together then just splitting it. Also would be a good idea to make a video of showing what is in that midsection exhaust tube etc.

I wish I had completely removed the lower cowling and then reassembled. It would require the wiring harness disconnect and I hated to do that. Maybe next time and thank you for the ideas!!!

Great video. Did you take all the bolts off when you replaced the fuel rail filter? Thank you and have a blessed day

There are several ways you can do that job. I took the 4 main ones completely off.

@@PaulsOutdoorAcademy In your video you reference the bolts as, I believe, 1-15? Which 4 main ones are you referring to? Thank you again and have a blessed night.

@jamesshelleywijnhamer19 I am sorry, I confused two videos. Hahahha. Yes, for the cowling I removed every one that I called out. Something like 15-16.
