It's always funny to me how people say that playing Mercy is literally just chilling and holding down a button. Stick your staff up their butt and don't get shot. But then, you actually play the character and you realize that in order to play her correctly and be decent with her, you have to sweat. You're checking so much stuff. It's crazy.

obviously flats is not bad w mercy but i realized that she’s pretty much the only character that ppl aren’t very good at when they don’t main her. i see ppl who don’t main ana play her as if they do, same with genji or orisa for example. and that goes for other characters too. but w mercy, it’s often very obvious when someone doesn’t main her. maybe it’s bc her kit is so different? i notice it by the beam usages and the lack of using her mobility to the fullest (aka playing more in a floor mercy type of way), or the confusion wether or not to pull out the glock once in a while. it’s just smth i noticed as a mercy main myself lol edit: an important example i forgot is the unawareness, though it’s obvious for flats to have a lot of awareness bc of his experience, his level of awareness just doesn’t compete with the one of a mercy main. i’ve seen mercy mains have only like 100hrs game time but still have more awareness than flats. this is not hate btw! i think this just shows that mercy is very difficult to play despite her easy kit.

As you're someone with more of a negative mindset towards Mercy, I did expect better gameplay and utilization of Mercy. Also understanding of Beam. At the same time it's so common for people who use the coined term Mercy Mafia which is currently from the anti Mercy people usually, to not be capable of the level of gameplay that actual Mercy mains are. Much better than some but not appropriate for the rank.

As a mercy main, we can tell you’re not one. You are nowhere near fast enough and it’s clear you don’t play fast movement based characters as much. For example, you get caught on wall sometimes in flight, and it’s clear you’re only comfortable up in the air when you’re in valk. You use high ground like someone who can’t continuously float and stay in the air, and is expected from an all round overwatch player, but you don’t use her specific ability to constantly be in the air to your advantage, which makes you an easier target on the ground. You’re low damage, and evasive manoeuvres are your best friend, so keeping an eye on your anchor points (other team mates), and the biggest threats to you (hitscan and other flight characters), is key. That type of thing takes practice at Mercy though, and you still have the mechanical skill to play to a pretty good level.

What if mercy really needed to aim for heals. More rewarding for skill gameplay
