I saw Mercyful Fate live in 83. Opening for Manowar. Absolutely brilliant. Watching two bands at the top their game. They should have become a much bigger band than they were. King Diamond is amazing. Thanks for the memories guys.

Back in the 80's when i was teenager i would lift weights to this song. The greatest workouts powered by the greatest metal.

8 years ago the art class students at the high school I lived close to at the time were given permission by the municipality to paint the all underpasses in the neighbourhood. I happened to walk past one group of students at work and they were painting this album cover on the concrete wall! I had to stop and tell them how proud I was of them!

This album made a huge impression on me as a teenager in 1984, very iconic album and it's a timeless classic. King Diamond is a very much an underrated metal vocalist

From 4:12 to 4:40 is the definition of metal. Dark, menacing, heavy as fuck, and fucking evil. An absolute masterpiece of metal and easily in my top three of all times. Not counting MF/KD's other releases. Denmark should worship this band or at least make some sort of monument in their hometown. There are very, very few albums in all of metal that are on the same level as this masterpiece. Somehow their 90s albums although great lack the awesome sound they achieved on their early releases.

I had this t-shirt way back when I was a teenager, I remember my friends dad being all religious at the time, he was convinced I was a devil worshiper, lol. Couldn't wait to watch Headbangers Ball on MTV, those were the days!

🤘The greatest Heavy Metal band ever !!!

I liked this album before I even distinguished or put any thought into musical genres. I'm now 27. When I was 10, I listened to this just as much as I listened to Eminem, lol. I'm far more towards rock and metal now; that's just how my taste in music ended up. I like pop music occasionally but nothing beats metal and I'll never forgot about King D or Mercyful Fate.

Ive always been a rocker since I was young and being raised by like 8 different uncles. All of them loved some classic rock and metal. But I have been introduced to so many new bands because of a lead tech at work. He always knows just what to put so we can work and rock it out. Didn't even know what Helloween, Merciful Fate, W.A.S.P, Airborne, Accept, Saxon, April Wine or UFO we're until last year. What I would have given to live from the 60s era and up. I'm an old soul stuck in a young body.

As a an album cover it's as good as it gets

Starting around 4:10, I can definitely hear inspiration for “Return To Hangar” by Megadeth (the slow part with the bells chiming). In “Return To Hangar” there are riffs that slow down in between the fast riffs with the leads at end.
