Mercyful Fate is the first official release by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate. It is also known as Nuns Have No Fun, the "first album" or the "EP". It was released on this day 11/8/87. It is a four track, 45rpm effort and was recorded and mixed at Stone Studio in Roosendaal, Netherlands, in two days in 9/82, and released on the independent label Rave-On Records as RMLP-002. The album was produced and mixed by Jac Hustinx and engineered by Willem Steetjes. The cover is drawn by Ole Poulsen. The album in it's entirety was later re-issued in 1987 as part of The Beginning compilation.

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONFORM, Ever thought about where King Diamonds vocal style came from? Look for the band TYBURN TALL from 1972. Listen to the first 2 tracks. It's heavy prog with keyboard & lead guitar. I believe the foundation to Mercyful Fate lies within that album. Judge for yourself. There's also a serious drum solo in one of the songs that may have influenced Neil Pert.
Can't get any better than this. It is so pure, so crystal clear in intent and expression it blows you away. Clear Judas Priest influence without copycat. Masterpiece.
