I am of the opinion that deep down, the catfishing thing actually gave Kody an excuse to walk away from Meri but swing it so it’s “Meri’s fault” and thereby he can throw the betrayal card at her all the time to shift attention away from the fact that Kody wanted out.
Meri has played the cards she had in her hand all wrong!! She's played the victim card, instead of the survivors card, thus Leon has gone against her, and Kody's got a free pass to avoid "jail time" in the game of Life!!! Meri reminds me of my cat, she gave Kody the gift of a new wife, thinking it would put her back in Kody's good graces. But all it did was give him the reason he needed to get further away from Meri!! Kody loves his children when they are "children". When they become "adults " he wants nothing to do with them. When they start to have opinions of their own he doesn't care about them. Which then makes me wonder if he ever loved them. Of course he could never love anyone more than Kody.

No one can tell me Robyn did not know what she was doing. She knew full well what she was doing. DND that EXTRA long honeymoon she got that no one has ever had. I still can't get over when Janelle went to show her house plans Christine had been gone and they hadn't got together until the house plans situation. That's telling. I do believe Janelle when she said Robyn would tell stories about Christine to try to convince her she wasn't a good sister wife
Call the Midwife on Netflix is amazing! I'm sorry I missed it earlier. I found it telling that the minute Kody showed up at Meri's house in Flagstaff, Robyn called Kody's phone. And when Kody was at Janelle's house after her mom's funeral, Robyn showed up at Janelle's house for a visit. For someone who truly wanted her sister wives to have good relationships with Kody, she acted jealous and controlling. They deserve to be alone together.
Someone's decision to "come out" to family and/or friends is deeply personal and private. Robyn is disgusting for telling Gwendolyn she should have saved it for the camera. Did Robyn tell the world on camera about her sexuality? No, and she shouldn't! It's personal and private! Seriously!
Kody never contacted Meri once during the height of the pandemic; she was living alone. That's cold. Gwendolyn has every right to be hurt and angry; this is so sad. I would not watch a show about Kody and Robyn fawning over each other. I would watch a show chronicling Christine and Janelle's life after leaving Kody. I originally stated I would not want Meri included but my fellow commenters have made me think it might be a good idea.
She followed all the rules and begged to see Robin kids and Robin told Kody they shouldn’t let her come over because what the other wives would think. I remember watching and thinking how sad and lonely to be alone all during the pandemic and not even have “family” invite her over because she was in complete isolation.

At that point in the pandemic there was no reason they couldn't have even let her come stay with them for a while. Say, a week on, week off. I felt so sad for her.

I've often wondered if Meri regretted bringing Robyn into the family. Meri went from the alpha-wife, to the lowest-wife, when her sinister plan to bring Robyn into the family (behind the backs of J and Ch ) backfired on her, and essentially ruined Meri's life. Meri brought Robyn into the family for two reasons: 1) hopes of hurting Christine 2) bringing in a buddy for her - all the while maintaining her "queen bee" wife status. So both things backfired for Meri. 1) Meri's shady move hurt Christine so much that she eventually left the family, followed by J's exit. 2) Meri's new buddy wildly outplayed Meri, then soon usurped all Meri's power, and left Meri in shambles. - and in the end, Meri lost her "queen bee" status, as well as any bit of self-respect as she desperately craved crumbs of K's attention. Yep, I've often wondered if Meri regretted her shady move of bringing Robyn into the family, behind the backs of J and Ch, given the way that it tore apart her life, and whatever positive family culture the Browns had before Robyn. So I guess the answer is yes, Meri does regret it. I thought that at some point she just might!
There was that moment when I realized Meri had screwed herself good. It was immediately after Robyn gave birth, and made the offer, in front of the cameras, to be Meri's surrogate. There was no way in hell that was going to happen, and Robyn knew that. She didn't need to actually do it....just to be seen offering to do it. She knew Meri wouldn't go for it.
I would love to hear from the 3 ex wives and the adult children why Robin is disliked by so many of them. I don't mean vague broad answers. I want juicy details and detailed stories 😄

I think both Kody and Robyn are to blame for hurting almost every other member of their family, but I think Kody is to blame for the breakups of his marriages and the heartache that Christine, Janelle, and Meri have gone through. He could have treated all three wives with kindness and fairness. He could have sat down with Meri after the catfishing and listened to her fears and heartbreak over the legal divorce. He could have divided his time fairly between his wives and treated them like partners, not hired help.
I think a "Life After Kody" spin-off with Christine (her kids) and Jenelle (her kids) would be ideal. Robyn and Kody deserve each other -- two people who lived off the earning ability of the other wives. Let them try and support Kody's permanents and hair coloring and trips to Victoria's Secret and the mortgage on Robyn's massive house by themselves. Let him get a real job instead of some bogus "arms dealer". He was only furious his other wives left because it's humiliating but mainly because his meal tickets were leaving. I agree with almost all you’ve said. But putting Kody’s name in the show title is a bad idea, because he would most likely get some royalties from the ladies show for using his name. Also it would be denigrating to them by association.
The only thing Sobyn is upset about is that with the other wives leaving, so does the income so, sooner or later, SHE might have to get off her lazy butt and get a job instead of just sitting around crying!
Kody will have to work harder at the 'shows' that him and his bestie go to... Robyn will be left at home all alone with the two youngest children.... How will she cope ?
Sobbin' also knows that other new, young, wives will have to come into the picture to keep Kody happy and on the "spiritual path" to get into a fine place in the kingdom of heaven. Sobbin' is so jealous and she will not do well when Kody starts looking at younger, prettier, and fertile women. Menopause is right around the corner for Sobbin'. Kody gets tired of them when they reach a certain age.
I would love to see Jenelle’s life with her kids or Christine’s life with her kids but probably wouldn’t watch a show of Robin and Cody or Mary. I think Christine and Jenelle should co-author a tell all book, that I would read.
I want a Christine and Janelle spin off with their kids. If once in a while they panned to how kody & Robyn were struggling with two jobs each to make ends meet, I’d be ok with that. As long as they didn’t get paid for the entire season as Christine and Janelle should.

In season 1 Meri was talking about keeping Robyn and Kody's early relationship a secret from the family brought Meri and Kody closer and she enjoyed the attention she was getting from Kody by having this shared secret. I completely believe that Meri did everything to get a morsel of attention from Kody. Also, if their relationship was rocky, she couldn't have a baby and Christine just got pregnant, she might have been extra jealous of Christine and Meri may have enjoyed redirecting Kody's attention away from Christine.
Meri doesn't seem to understand the consequences of her actions. She willingly helped to bring Robin in the family, but then acted jealous? What did she believe would happen? Did she secretly hope that her headwifeposition would be re-inforced, that Robin would be 100 percent loyal & that her and Kody would be closer? That it would be them three against Janelle and Christine? How that backfired...
Meri brought Robyn into the fam to hurt Christine, and have a buddy. In their book, Christine had blown up at Meri over Meri's harsh disciplinarian techniques with her and J's kids. After that, Ch said that her relationnship with Meri was socially friendly, but very chilly underneath. Ch made it very clear in the first season, that she had always wanted to be the 3rd and FINAL wife. (Meri will use this info to REALLY hurt Christine soon.) Meri was also jealous and angry that as "queen bee" she couldn't have more kids, and J and Ch were having kid after kid. So when Meri met Robyn at that infamous party, where K and R first met, Meri began hatching her most sinister plan yet: to bring Robyn in to the family behind the backs of her other two sister wives! Meri knew darn well how much it would hurt Christine - AND she sprang Robyn on Ch when she was pregnant with Truly. Meri knew darn well what she was doing, and it all backfired on her.
I would love to watch a show about Meri, Janelle, and Christine and their kids. It would be very interesting to know how the kids now view the whole polygamy upbringing and how they lived their lives.
There is little difference between Kody and men who father children who they later abandon. The first three wives live like single mothers who are unable to date, Robin probably wanted to be in a polygamist marriage because she needed the help from the other wives to raise her children. Her children are treated better than the other children. Her grown-up children still live at home and do not seem have jobs. Meri sticks around because in her mind she is still the senior wife. A Kody/ Robin show would be awful.
How easily every one forgets. Never! Meri is the one that brought Robyn into this family. Christine pleaded with her not too. Meri didn’t care, Christine was beneath her. A few seasons ago Janelle and Meri did some type of counseling to mend their relationship. Yep, this effort failed too. Meri always had the biggest kitchen and home until this last move to Flagstone. 😂 Christine and Janelle have moved on together. Meri needs to move on to her B&B.
It would be worst than watching paint dry!!! I hate it, it makes me ill, whenever Kody or Robyn are on camera. I just want to slap their faces whenever they open their mouths spouting lie after lie. Hurting and humiliating other wives and children. Robyn even manipulates her own children with lies, half truths and presents her warped perceptions of what other people say and do as facts. I'm just SO tired of Kody and Robin and their kids being the victims. Kody never even went to support Ysabell before and after her surgery when she was in so much pain. It always seemed like the other kids were expected to be less needy because they had independent Moms.
I started rewatching the show from the beginning....I blame you! 😆 It's so obvious that Mary brought Robin inn to get in good with Kody. It's so weird to watch her be all flirty with him in the early days. The part I thought was so weird was the day of Robin's wedding. Mary was helping Cody get ready, they were all flirting with each other. And then she said she was jealous that it wasn't her wedding night with Kody. (Like you know what she was insinuating) 🤮

Robyn is playing a game. Like Cody, they wanted the wives to stay in the family without intimacy. Meri set the standard for that but luckily the others objected. Their incomes is a huge lost to Cody and Robyn because Robyn doesn’t work and doesn’t bring in any money beside proceeds from the show. And on the show she doesn’t offer anything besides empty tears.
Exactly. Robyn knew she was the only one that had intimacy and a functioning marriage none of the other wives did. Conveniently during covid kody was right by her side. And always meeting the needs of Robyn’s children too. Every one else got neglected and treated bad.

I was always under the impression that it was because Janelle and Christine were closer because of their kids and also because Meri has a rude and biting personality so she felt alone and the idea was to find somebody who she liked who she could get to side with her. Christine and Janelle both say Meri was horrible to them. In their book Meri admits she went behind Janelle’s and Christine’s backs and introduced Robyn. Kody was interested in Robyn before Janelle and Christine had given their consent for him to even consider adding a wife and it sounds like they got bamboozled because they felt like they couldn’t say no because by the time they found out and had said no, Kody was “lovesick.” At that point Christine and Janelle had been conditioned to think that their feelings against adding another wife were wrong and that they had to allow this. And in the beginning Robyn and Meri were buddies and Meri has always been close with the younger two kids. I am sure Meri regrets divorcing Kody so Robyn could be the legal wife. That was one of Robyn and Kody’s manipulations.
I would definitely watch a spin-off with Christine and Janelle! As it is now, I fast forward thru any scenes featuring Kody and Robyn. A show with the two of them would be my worst nightmare, and I absolutely would not watch it. I’m bothered so much by Robyn benefiting the most from the other wives hard work. Plus isn’t it about time for Kody to kick out her 3 oldest kids? They certainly are no longer “of a tender age”!
One thing that no one seems to talk about.... Meri wanted to try for more children and Kody said no. Meri's fate was sealed then. I know it's beyond complicated but was extremely sad and disappointing to watch many years ago.

Actually in the very beginning of the first season Kody wanted to get IVF for Meri, Meris the one who told him she didnt want it. So I mean we cant just blame everything on one person or another. Meri didnt want it and then she does? Why didnt she say anything when he brought it up to begin with?
I have always thought that Robyn was the person who initiated the divorce from Meri. I think she suggested and cried to Kody . She made Meri feel like she had to . I think Robyn had that planned from day one to be the number one wife. I hate to say this but there is a part of me that feels bad for Meri b/c she was played and I do not think she realized how played she was until recently….. My thoughts exactly! After going back and watching the show from season 1, I am convinced that Robyn cried and whined and finally guilted Meri into that divorce. Robyn was a schemer from the very beginning.

This is what I think…Every choice she has made was to get Kody’s attention means that she gave him the divorce, remember?, so he could marry Robyn and adopt her children, thinking she would “earn” his love and it would repair their relationship and she would have intimacy with him again. And he probably dangled the carrot out there and she took the bait, let him have the divorce, and it backfired. She gave up her legal marriage as his first wife thinking it would buy Kody’s love, and we all know Kody doesn’t have love for any of his wives. What he calls love is conditional, Meri knew that, but it didn’t work for her. He just manipulated her to get the divorce. So, now she has regrets.
Meri seems to be a very unhappy woman. That’s probably why she is so angry all the time. Sobbin is a snake that gets exactly what she set out to do, have Kotex to herself. Now Sobbin and Kotex’s cushy life is at an end, time to hit the employment line. No more nanny now that the bread earner’s are gone.

The second he divorced Meri to marry Robyn, I knew it was the beginning of the end for the original three because he clearly only wanted Robyn from the first date and after the divorce, he legally had a right to only choose Robyn, so he did. The whole divorce Meri and legally marry Robyn to adopt her kids is very suspicious. It was part of a larger plan to get rid of Meri. They must have made Robyn’s ex an offer he couldn’t refuse.
I'd love to see Meri, Janelle and Christine do a show called "Sister Exes" to show how they're doing with their businesses, dating, kids and grandkids. I still can't believe that Robyn was able to buy that mansion with the other wives money. I know that Robyn's name is the only wife's name on the paperwork but I hope some lawyers can step in and help the other wives get their money back.

Easy to blame the "other women", but (from what they show on the TV show) I thought the "marriages" were suppose to be seperate and here goes Kody telling Robyn,(really all the women) what is happening in each "wives" household. I feel bad for Robyn’s kids. Her constant paranoia about how they are treated probably filters down to them and affects their relationships with their other siblings (from the other moms), preventing them from having a good sibling bond.
I would NEVER watch a show with just Kody and Robyn. I’d love to see a spin-off with all 3 wives “Life After Polygamy”. I’d even like to see Meri. I hope she changes her attitude about Kody and sees the light. Eventually she’ll realize that Kody leaving was the best thing to ever happen to her.

I think Coldfish was secretly through with Meri when she only had 1 child. She was integral to his "celestial kingdom" ideas and was legally his real wife- making her harder to dump. When Robyn came along, she was young enough to have more babies and even came with 3. Meri has been tolerated for longer than she knew.
And now that Mariah has become Leon, he really is done with Meri. Earlier in the season he named people who no longer fit in with the family, and Mariah was at the top of the list.
M e r I also brought in an income. And according to the early shows, the teenagers kind of hung out in her apartment with mariah. That helps take the strain off of Christine looking after the kids while Janelle was working. They had a good system going whether or not they were all as happy as they claimed to be hmm I don't know.
I am really enjoying Janelle speaking the truth in such a considered way and sticking up for herself, in a way that she hasn't done before this current season. Kody has learnt from Robyn, in how he is trying to turn on the tears to gain sympathy for the lies they both continue to perpetuate 😔
We talk so much about Cody and his wives, but the ones who are suffering through all this is the children, and I'm worried about them. I would like to know how the children are holding up to all this childishness that's going on

Meri made poor choices from Day One. She and Kody were having issues, so Meri brought in Janelle to fix their problems? When Kody still treated Meri like crap, she brought in Christine to fix ALL of the relationships - and Meri claimed she was jealous of Christine (not Janelle because she was more like a "bro" to Kody). So then she brings in Robyn to make Kody happy, but behind the backs of the other two wives - and she gets pushback from the wives and Kody still doesn't respect or want her, so she was surprised? Kody should have NEVER married anyone. He ended up being a sperm donor for a bunch of kids he has zero interest. He's not a dad. He's not a good husband. He's not even a good person. However IF Robyn is happy being his lapdog (especially as he loves referring to his wives as panting dogs), then good for the both of them. They deserve each other. I hope their kids NEVER leave home and drain every bit of energy and Kody's (not the money from wives 1, 2 & 3) money from them.

A topic that hasn’t been explored is when Robyn and Meri met after Christine’s announcement that she’s leaving Kody. Robyn implored Meri “hang on with me we have to rebuild”. What was Robyn suggesting in rebuilding???
Robin went from a monogamous marriage where she thought she wanted a polygamous life, to an actual polygamous life were she clearly realized sharing a man was harder than she had imagined. She was gunning for top wife status from day one and the more she saw her plots working out in her favor, the more she felt confident implementing a plan to chase off the other families. The ultimate problem is that while she IS crafty, she is not practical. She knows how to scheme to get what feels good to her emotions, but she fails to see how she is actively derailing their future income stream.
Kody owns personal responsibility in this. Robyn needs to own accountability. Neither of them are innocent. "Save it for the camera" tells us all we need to know about how opportunistic Robyn is. So why wouldn't she use manipulation as a tool as well? 🤷♀️ If Janelle is in the next season, I'll watch. After that, Kody, Robyn, and Meri are in my rearview, and I'm on Team Janellestine. I would not watch a show with just Kody and Robyn and the 5 kids. I can bearly stand to watch them now. In fact, multiple times this year I skipped the show and just watched your review. So much better for my psyche and blood pressure. I am all for watching a show with just Christine and Janelle.
Robyn's daughter has panic attacks ...daddybKody comes and carries her to another room....what a way to get his attention.. This looks creepy to me and Robyn does nothing about it
I wish Janelle would have a forensic accountant take a look at the expenditures and deposits over the last few years. Also, she needs to get back what she gave Robyn and Kody for "Robyn's house.'
I just binged on all episodes of 1889. It blew my mind! It was easy for Robyn to take care of Kody when she had several other wives to pick up the slack. Now lets see how she do when she has to take care of Kody all by herself. He's a hand full.
I was thinking this too. In the early episodes Robyn would do all her housework, errands, etc on days that Kody wasn’t there so she could devote 100% of her attention to him on her days with him. Wonder how they feel now when she has to do laundry and dishes instead of snuggle up to Kody. Oh wait, thats what the nanny does.
