How interesting that he said that Rhythm and Blues had a baby and they named it Rock and Roll. God Bless you Little Richard for all your contributions that may not have been acknowledged but certainly were emulated.
Right. The music industry just came up with Rock-n-Roll because of the difference they made between black and white music. But actually Rhythm and Blues also was called Rock-n-Roll because it was the same music created by folk like Little Richard and Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, etc.
Some good comments and 2 great ones. But like Richard said someone named it Rock n Roll do you know who is another one who has no recognition for it but you should know Richard himself has said this man named it rock n roll. Who? HINT: Initials , A. F.
Richard Wayne Penniman (Lil Richard), The Originator, The Emancipator, and The Architect of ROCK-N-ROLL!!!! I thank Lil Richard for all he gave the world with his music. Truly he is an ICONIC LEGEND TRAIL BLAZER. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" Lil Richard always spoke of his love for God. He will always be remembered, treasured, and missed.
@@nyceefx true. But tthose early recordings from Little Richard from 1951-52 had nothing to do with rhythm and blues or rock and roll. It was Little Richard's manager and producer Bumps Blackwell (Bumps was also Sam Cooke's first producer) that helped Little Richard turn his musical approach around in 1955 to doing the more jump Blues R&B that he would be known for. But by that time Elvis had already been doing his thing for over a year and was on the national Billboard charts... Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley also arrived in the summer of 1955 also. James Brown followed about 6 months later in 56, plus Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis The interesting thing about it is they actually all pretty much arrived on the musical scene at almost the same exact time in history. It wasn't like one guy was doing it, then another artist followed, then another artist followed... they pretty much all started charting on the national musical scene within six months of each other ....it was more like a perfect Kismet musical explosion. It drove mainstream conservative America crazy. They pushed back against the rock and roll R&B of those artists in those early years between 55 and 58. That musical revolution could not have happened without all of those artists arriving on the musical landscape at almost the same time. Little Richard has talked about all this in interviews
2 kings of rockn roll piano jerry lee lewis and little richard One king in rock n rollguitar chuck berry.. Elvis only a singer with beautiful voice and face... We never saw Elvis doing intro orsolo with a guitar and if he triesto play piano he was obliged tolook at his fingers on the keyboard..and only for slow songs... rockn roller must be singer and musician ...these 3guys where on the top..chuck jerry lee and little richard...an instrument was not decoration for them..
Only the architect can say R&B had a baby & somebody called it RocknRoll.Little Richard is the only one I heard to correctly, in detail, explain the birth of RockNRoll. He's Rockin' & Rollin' for Jesus Christ now
That someone who named it Rock & Roll was Cleveland radio DJ Alan Freed back in 1951. And yes, Little Richard is the REAL king of Rock & Roll. Even the so called "King" Elvis Presley played his music early in his career: "Ready Teddy" and "Long Tall Sally".
2 kings of rockn roll piano jerry lee and little richard One king in rock n roll guitar chuck berry Elvisonly a singerwith beautifulface and voice..not a musician ... We never saw Elvis doing intro or solo with a guitar. ..and if he played piano he wasobliged to look at his fingers on the keyboard and only for slow songs... Little richard jerry lee lewis and chuck berry... are complete rockn roller..
Jean-Christophe DIBATISTA Agreed if we’re talking about talent but Elvis is Elvis. As far as fans and recognition all over the world then some, and possibly him dying attributed to that.......Nah Elvis the king.
@@dontellgucci1117 If you play instrument and if you are Able play rockssongs, if you are dancing in club of rock n roll.. It is not difficult to you to know where is the difficulty to play and sing at the same time or to dance ...between a little richard or jerry lee rock s song or an elvis one.... But the difficulty is to be objectiv for people who don t play any instrument or who don t dance rock n roll.. and who only see the face of their idol and the way he moove his body and forget to see and listen attentivly the hundred and hundred vidéos where elvis stops to play the guitar and the sound of the riff of guitar continues.....
RIP sweet lovable Little Richard. You gave us a good time while you were here. You were an incredible entertainer. What I like best about you, is that you did acknowledge God! You are resting with the Lord!!
It's in the past ! NO IT WILL NOT RVER BE IN THE PASSED, HE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS THE ONE WHO HAD TO BE THE 1ST TO START ROCK& ROLL. THE DATES SAY IT ALL . LOVE FOR HIM. RESTING IN PEACE LITTLE RICHARD.....
congratulations little Richard....I know you wasn't going to check up outta here until the world knew the truth.... "lil Richard the architect of rock and roll"
Little Richard told the music industry that night the truth that he was the inventor of Rock& Rock as all of African American musical artist then and now are. We African American created all musical art form.
Why didn't DCP include the tribute element and the half minute long standing ovation he got?? It is amazing how it highlights how he inspired Elvis Presley, James Brown, Otis Redding, Jagger and Richards and The Stones, Smokey Robinson, David Bowie and so on. Smokey says that he started that funky, driving rock n roll, Bowie says he erased the word 'racemusic' and gave us popular music, Clark said he inspired almost every rock n roll artist of the 1950s and years thereafter, he influenced Redding and the development of soul, he inspired James Brown and gave his his first introduction to funk, Elvis is quoted as saying, "your music has inspired me - you are the greatest." It was so amazing to watch that part - why does he keep getting dissed? God bless Little Richard who first began performing outside on the church 70 years next year (although he rarely appears anywhere these days.)
"I am black, black. Ain't no black man supposed to live in Beverly Hills?" I imagine he was just too outspoken but he always told the truth. He always spoke about his love for God...maybe they didn't like that!!?? 💞💞💞LR
Dick Clark was there! He knew what happened. Another Icon like MJ righting a wrong that was done to this man! All 3 and others will have something to talk about through the corridors of Heaven! God always bring things back Full circle! As my Mother would say. God don't like Ugly! Yet he's not to fond of pretty ! It's the affairs of the Human ❤️! Whether it's in the right place! And this Award happened in the right place and time!!
I remember at the AMAs some time in the 80s he was up there complaining he didn’t get no damn award while people clapped when he gave someone a award 😂
It's rather sad and unfortunate that we as black entertainers get our due at the last minute of the date SMH God bless you Little Richard RIP!!!🎤🎹🎵🥁🎶💯🙏🏽🤔
Elvis actually told Little Richard that LR had nothing to worry about, LR is the King of Rock and Roll. They were actually good friends. LR even said it himself in an interview
