In this video I weather and show the final reveal of the model kit Merkava by Tamiya in 1/35 Scale. This model is of the first Israeli Main Battle Tank that was designed and manufactured by the Israelis for the IDF. This is the final video of this Merkava project and I hope you enjoy it!
This is Tamiya Kit No. 35127

W O W !!! Those 'Vallejo' pigments Sure Look GREAT!!! I MUST look that stuff up for my weathering of my First tank in several years!! See if they have those pigments in a bit of "wet mud" look on a green-colored tank. Question, Johnny...... do you need to "seal" those pigments, do you do this before applying -- After applying --- Both??!! Glad I 'Sub'!!
@hillbillymodeling

Fine dry pigments can be "fixed" into place by using either a pigment fixer or watered down PVA glue, which can have some "body" to it. That is ok if you need to show built up accumulations on things like roadwheels or suspension components. On upper surfaces, that might not be desirable, in those cases just use enamel thinner to fix the pigment. Once the thinner has evaporated it will leave that dusty look you're looking for. Whatever you do, don't try to seal dry pigments with a flat coat of acrylic clear, this will literally cause the pigment to disappear! Hope that helps, take care and have fun with your project. Johnny

Very often there are random image quality degradation. For instance, despite the 1080 setting, i did'nt seen the chipping. On the other hand, the stills at the end are perfect. Does it comes from youtube? The software used to edit the video? The recording device?
@hillbillymodeling
@hillbillymodeling 2 года назад
Thanks for the great question, Zorg! I believe it's a combination of recording device, (in my case a smart phone), lighting, the colors I'm using, and some amateur videoing skills. LOL. All combined, they caused the anomalies in the video. Quality video equipment would probably eliminate such error's from occurring, but since I'm "self-funded" it will be a while before I upgrade to a professional camera. Thanks for watching and I will endeavor to do better my friend.

Hillbilly! you did a great job. Subtle variations of tones are tricky. You nailed it. Nice work. PS it seems your modeling light is much warmer than the cool light of the still shots. I can see a color change. Thanks as always for posting and sharing with us. Keep gluin'
