This was my dad’s favorite song also I even caught him one time in the back yard sitting there singing out load to the song Lol he also had since passed but Good Memories though 👍
Saw Merle in Corpus Christi my senior year in high school, 1971. Bumped into him in a cafe near the venue. Got his autograph. That band is tight. Great show.
So Love All that Mr Merle Haggard was. So Thankson that His Sons can also Sing Their Daddy's Songs. We Especially Love Noel Lee & Benion Lewis HAGGARD.
I loved the concert on ACL from which this video is taken. If only ACL would release it as they've released other Merle Haggard performances. I think it's Merle at his finest.
Amen Mighty Merle. We all wish we could do this, but as you’ve said, with 9 kids and a wife, time to go to work. Not many of us left in today’s world. Pretty sure you and Willy said it best, it’s all going to pot. RIP sir
Listening to this in 2021, my mom met this guy and a few other's such as Conway Twitty, George Jones and some of the other's from the 50's; she's still kicking. :)
Wish we had this old type of country music today. I grew up on this type of country music & bluegrass, etc. (Merle Haggard,Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, George Jones and so many other great legend and in bluegrass it was Bill Monroe, Osborne Brothers, Stanley Brothers and so many great legends) and waltz (so to speak) Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Just about all of the great legends are gone. Dolly Parton & Whispering Bill Anderson and a few others are still with us but not many. Country Music Industry has changed forever with this new stuff they call country. Like George Strait & Allen Jackson song "Murder on Music Row". Thats the Gods Truth to.
Back in the early 80s I was transferred from Flagstaff, AZ, which I loved, to Phoenix, the first big city I ever lived in. A year later I went through a divorce. This song really hit a chord with me back then! It was sort of my anthem!
I love also the version more young of date but MERLE more old always beautifull and perfect countryslowlymusic...love love love and love him this géant...RIP my loversonger countryman and respect to your family(2023/03/14)❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
It looks like you pulled this from a home recorded VHS tape? What will it take for you to post more? Those tapes degrade as they get older so please transfer it to digital if you have the original.
John Gilbanni I have been unable to locate a DVD to purchase. I believe I only have 4 songs from this show in inferior quality obviously taken from a VHS source. Thanks for posting this.
Shakeyleg by Elvismerle do you know what year it was from? I think I’ve got a DVD with 3 or 4 of his shows, but I doubt it’s from ACL. I’m willing to do some digging, though.
John Gilbanni that would be so great. You know how it is when you are a collector trying to rustle up the last few songs to make a show complete. Lol. I show this was Austin City Limits show #706 which would mean it is from 1982. I just looked and the only songs I have in that folder from this show are Big City and Are The Good Times Really Over. Really appreciate your efforts to help.
