I miss him a lot Wesley. I'm 5 years your junior, and was raised on his music and other Country Music greats. I had a chance to meet him once in East Stroudsburg PA his bus was parked in the Walmart parking lot he had played in Jim Thorpe PA the night before. It was early and the bus was still and quiet so I let them sleep. I'm sure Merle would've appreciated my being considerate in that way. I have to listen to his music everyday it's good for the soul.
My wife and I saw merle 12 times in our life. The last time was Sept of the year before he died. No one has ever been as good as merle and no one ever will be. Rip merle you were the best
Try reading his book "Sing Me Back Home" it's very good and he wrote it! I bought it as a paperback at a Circle K store. I lent it to a supposedly friend and it was gone, a long with my friend.
You'll never hear anything that will compare to Merle's talent. Whenever I was around Merle, I could just feel the greatest when he walked into the room. Simply the greatest country music singer songwriter ever.

Merle Haggard is great but he ain't the king of country, but there he's one of the bad boys at least of california, he's right up there with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings I love those three they're the best they're the three kings as far as I'm concerned and don't forget all Willie Nelson

After listening to this a thousand times easily, Hag still gives me goose bumps. As much as I love many different country singers, only he can do that to me. It’s magical!
He was the complete package musically.....then his life and how he lived, especially the early chapters, gave him the soul that he put in his words and his phrasing.....he was most unique and gifted, we shall never see anyone like him again!

I Don't remember ever hearing, When Times Were Good" before & Don't know how l missed it because l thought l heard them all. He was the & still is the best. Beautiful song as all of them. Thank God we can still listen to his music. Of course he was good eye candy. I am 78 yrs so l guess l should know by now, even though l could tell that for a long time. Yeah!
