Merle could sing about things with authority that few people could. That was his songwriting and performing genius. Rest in peace, Merle. You brought great beauty to the world in the face of such difficulty and pain. ❤
I love love love this strip down version of the original..Its almost like a hymn.If I could request a song to be played at my funeral this would be the one.
Ah, you can clearly see that he was catching the momentum. His career is really amazing, when I am listening to Merle I know that it's always top quality stuff.
Not sure what year this is but I was at Giants Stadium in NJ in 83' at Willie's 4th of July picnic and was able to see Merle live for the first time. Needless to say at 17 I was hooked for life with Merle. At 56 I still have to get my daily dose of the Hagg!!
Merle and Marty are probably jamming to this song. God bless Bonnie, such a wonderful person. This song is not quite the same without her beautiful backup vocals.
I have listened to this song for years from the Rainbow Stew Live album. Never did I realize he was referring to Willie Nelson when he says "C'mon Will". I never get tired of this song.
Agreed. We used to rewind the cassette (lol) over and over to the “c’mon Will!” Never knew until these videos surfaced who Will was. It was also awesome to see the video of the stands rocking up and down when the voice comes over the speaker and says “Attention! For your own safety, please do not dance on the upper level!” We used to talk about what an awesome concert that would have been to be at.
Great music avent of merle haggard ive got this on original dvd region 1 as well three different events it is very good well worth the buy ok guys love merle haggard proper old timer country singer r.i.p
I know it says Anaheim Stadium...But it looks like the Astrodome to me! ~ Plus, Willie has an Astros shirt on... ?? Incredible, Beautiful, Stunning Show! 💙
I wish I could get my hands on a DVD of this entire concert. This was recorded and put into the album Live At Anaheim Stadium but I have yet to see a DVD.
It appears to be maybe in Houston? Willie has on an Astro's coat... It's outside so I don't think it's the old Astrodome... Man, I'll rack my brian trying to figure this one out. At any rate GREAT song!
