I have my devices set up and followed the home kit set up. I am unable to see it on the home screen but can find it as a hub only with the detectors. Have a missed a step?
Nope, it doesn’t appear as a block in the home app like a bulb does but if you go to the room and look across the top where you see sensors you should see a smoke sensor

I can only share my own experience and I have two of these and they work well, they appear in Apple home, ties into any automations there and have gone off on a couple of occasions when I’ve burnt something in the kitchen. I would still recommend them
