Thanks for the close up the wiring as its not clear what wire is the earth/ground was in the app its black/red as my garage door motor was red/white like yours. 50/50 chance to get it right the first time! For those following along Garage door motor red -> MSG100 blue wire Garage door motor white -> MSG100 brown wire

Do I need one of these units for each door? Then I need MSG200? But then I need a second or third sensor unit. 😢
@getoats
@getoats 8 месяцев назад
@delinquense... Yes. Unfortunately with this model, you will need a unit for each door. There is a different model that will be able to work with two separate doors, and I believe it is the MSG200, like you said. But I don't remember.

Thanks for a great video! I have a few questions regarding the security setup, securing the device in the home network, and accessing the device over Internet. Once you have the network all tied in from the Meross garage device to your home network WIFI, can you get notification and remotely access the garage door outside the range of your home network's WIFI range (ie: anywhere in this world)? In setting up the network between the device and your home network using the 2.4GHz 802.11n security, does it use WPA2-AES or does it use the weaker TKIP security pass key only? Does the app provide the MAC address of the Meross device or does the device itself provide a printed MAC address internally or printed on the back? The reason for this is that I set up my router MAC address filtering and allow those specific devices to access Internet. Last question is, if the notification and remote access is sent across internet, is there a cloud service that the app uses to relay the notification and remote access to and from the device, especially if you set up firewalls for the ISP modem and on the second router where the device is situated on the network? This last question deals with the app and how it gets the notification and how it finds the device over internet when you're actually not connected your own home WIFI network.
@getoats
@getoats 3 года назад
Hi Test... Sorry for the late response. I have been extremely busy with other things at home. But to answer your questions. 1) Yes, you can get notifications anywhere in the world and be able to open the garage door anywhere in the world as well (as long as you have internet access and the Meross app installed on your smartphone). 2) When setting it up, you can connect to any WPA2 SSID using AES or TKIP encryption method. 3) Yes, the app does show you what the MAC address is of your device so that you can add it into your WiFi router for MAC address filtering, and 4) Since I'm not the app developer, I'm not sure how the app works, but from what it seems like to me, the app either communicates back to a server in the cloud or back to an on premises server hosted locally at the Meross server farm. I haven't had a chance to look into the traffic, but if you are curious, you can probably take a look at your firewall logs and find out where that traffic is going to and that will tell you for sure if it is reaching an on prem server or a cloud hosted server and what type of port the app is using. Hope this helps you with the security setup portion of the device/app.

@@getoats big problem here. I’m stuck at connecting the terminal. I’m using dominator garage opener god-11v3 and I don’t even know where the terminals at. Help
@getoats
@getoats 3 года назад
Good question... So what you will need to do is trace the wires that connect to your wall button, and those two wires will be where you will connect the smart garage door device to. Then you can test it by shorting those two connections and it should essentially open your garage door. Hope this helps. 👍

Thanks, I did set it up as ur explanation, but I found that it takes command from my iPhone and my home pod mini says use ur personal device! Why is this?
@getoats
@getoats 2 года назад
@Fahad... That I'm not sure. I actually don't have an Apple ecosystem, so I cannot tell you why. But my suspicion is maybe with a setting you need to fix on your home pod. Or it could be on your iPhone. You might want to reach out to support and see if they can help you out. Sorry I could not be off much help.

If i put this in the house, does everyone that have the app get notified if a garage opens?
@getoats

@Jeano Balinghasay... So yes and no. Yes, if you use the same login account to login to the app. No, if they have a different login. Hope that helps. 😉

Thanks for the video. Did you get a chance to set it up with Google Home? When you ask google to open the garage door, it asks for PIN. In the setup there is an option to enter pin and once you add that google will ask you to verify pin every time you command to open and close the door. Is there any way to bypass the pin validation?
@getoats
@getoats 3 года назад
Hi @TubeSwarn... Yes, I actually did get a chance to setup with Google Home. And yes, there is a way to bypass the PIN validation. If you go to the Meross app, just go to the Device Settings, and then under the "Voice Control" section, turn off the "PIN code" and that should bypass the PIN code when using the Google Assistant or your voice to open/close the door. Hope that helps.

In the last few seconds of the video when closing the garage, is the beeping from the device itself or the garage? and if it is from the meross device, can it be disabled?
@getoats
@getoats 3 года назад
@Matthew Wang... The beeping is actually from the device itself and not the garage. It is like a warning indicator that the garage door is closing. And yes, there is an option to disable that warning alarm when the garage door closes. 👍

Works well and sets up fast but has an issue with new HomePod minis. Will not allow you to use them with this HomeKit version. Reply’s to emails are very slow. So if your willing to just use your unlocked phone or iPad, your set if you want to use your new HomePods Minis with this your SOL

Thanks @Nicolas for the comment. I have Google Home, so I haven't had a chance to test this on Apple HomeKit. But you're right, the version I have is not compatible with Apple HomeKit. There is another version out there that does, and I hope they put out some updates to address the issues you are having. I did notice they update their app every so often.

nice review - though after about 6mos, mine has now decided to open and close randomly after I initially click in the app to open/close it - seems to have started happening just after the firmware 'upgrade' too.... tried different settings including changing trigger duration - may have to reset it all and start from scratch, bleh
@getoats
@getoats 2 года назад
@antmon antmon. Sorry to hear about that. I never had that issue yet, knock on wood. But I did have an issue with the app where sometimes when I open the garage manually through the wall switch, then I open the app to use it to close the door, the app still shows the door is closed. So I have to refresh the app and then it correctly shows the door is open. Then I can click to close the garage door. A little annoying sometimes cause it takes extra time to refresh the app and then I can close the door. For your problem though, I think you can contact support and have them help you with that issue. That definitely is not a good thing. Hope they are able to fix it. Let me know how it goes. 😉 Good luck!

nobody doing videos on these mentions you must have a hub to use the app away from your home wifi zone.
@getoats
@getoats Год назад
You actually do not need a hub. But you do need to connect your Meross Garage Opener to your WiFi so that it has Internet access. That way you can control/monitor the garage opener from your app on your phone. And of course you'll also need Internet access on your phone as well. So if you don't have WiFi on your phone, then at least you'll need cellular data.
