@@hiimemilyToday is December 2835th, 2012. When the world ended, and The Simulation began. We have run The Simulation non-stop for the last 2814 days, with almost no interruptions noticed by the subjects...
Beej: Graham, the post office has been in touch. We need to move the PO Box to the warehouse again. Graham: Okay, what square footage are we up to? Beej: Enough... so... about Mail Time? (Worried face) Graham: Hmm, you know the schedule between Desert Bus and Chr-Jesus-Mas? Beej: Yes?? Graham: Cancel it! Everyone's scheduled on shifts for Mail Time Live until every damn box is opened and responded to. Beej: O... kay? And the packaging? Graham: Well I've always wanted a boat...
As a English person the Bren gun is so called because the bren derived from Brno a Czech city (as the Bren gun was a licensed version of the Czechoslovak ZGB 33 light machine gun) and the start of Enfield, the British Army factory that tested and produced them. The reason the Bren is based on the Czechoslovak ZGB 33 light machine gun and named after a place in Czechoslovakia is because it's designer, Vaclav Holek is a Czech.
"I was there Gandalf, in the Before Times, a thousand....years? days? centuries? who can tell anymore?!? What was I saying - one of the symptoms of chronic depression is memory loss..."
Best thing about this year.. if you thought you were going to miss something you are not going to miss said thing. Because nothing is happening to miss.
Love the little reference to the Brengun. Fun fact, my Dad's name is Bren (just Bren, not short for anything) and all of my brother's friends called him The Brengun when we were kids.
Johnny Carson liked to ask guests who had done both which was harder, drama or comedy. Lucille Ball responded by hooking her necklace over her nose and then continuing the interview as if nothing were odd. It can be quite galling how effective simple physical comedy can be. (My favorite response to Johnny's question, I believe it was Carol Burnett, we that comedy is harder because if you try to be furious and fail, you might be angry. If you tray to be tragic and fail, you might be sad. But if you try to be funny and fail ... what you are is "not funny".
I am totally onboard the editing level up. "Cursed Court" is quick and easy to learn. Each game is different. It is a bidding game based upon limited information. Additionally, the game designers took color blindness very much under consideration for their game design. The colors are easy to interpret and do not leave any players embarrassed or at a disadvantage.
I know about Discover Teas!!! I don't live too far away from there! They're absolutely great, I'm sure y'all have been enjoying that tea since the eternal March began.
I've played that Bad Medicine game! There was a little local expo where local indie game designers showed off their wares, and someone was showing that game off. It's very Cards Against Humanity, and a lot of fun. (I also may have cleaned house in the round I played.)
There is a very famous paragraph used in speech-language pathology that includes the phrase "banana oil". I've never heard those words outside of that context... until now. And it freaked me out a little bit, I won't lie!
I actually love Mail Time. It is one of my favorite LRR videos. Graham is always great. Beej is always Beej. The wonderful comments from other fans mirroring my feelings. The exciting surprises of all the things being opened, and the reactions from the cast. So good.
I've played that Cytosis game. Quite fun, and very accurate to the actual functioning of your cells, according to the biology major who was VP of my university's board game club.
Bed Machine sounds like if they tried to make the song Love Machine sound PG and failing to do so. "I'm just a bed machine And I won't work for nobody but you I'm just a bed machine A huggin', kissin' fiend"
I can't help but wonder as it predates my viewing of LRR, does "Dear doctors LRR" come from someone writing Dear LRR but leaving out the vowels to get "Dr LRR" as the first iteration, then it evolved over time?
Found this on the LRR wiki: "To amuse himself during his shifts in Desert Bus 1, Morgan solicited advice column-style questions from the chat, in a segment called "Ask Doctor Morgan". Soon, this evolved such that anyone in the room became an honorary doctor when someone asked them a question (sometimes used as "Dear Dr. Kathleen", "Dear Dr. LRR" or "Dear Dr. Anyone")."
For my 30th this year my wonderful older brother sent me a glitter bomb which I did manage to catch before it properly exploded. But it got all over the kitchen floor and we were still finding errant bits of glitter on the carpets for months. The fucker.
Wizards canceled the Transformers game after set 5 was released about a month ago. Just an FYI so don’t get to interested in it. Holy crap didn’t notice filmed in January so you probably know about the Transformers game getting canceled anyway 😅
