EUCLID BEACH PARK is a nationally known amusement park covering ninety acres of lakefront property on the northeast side of Cleveland, Ohio. It has been owned and managed by the Humphrey family since 1901. This family was composed of three brothers, a sister, and the wife and children of one of the brothers.

There is a place in Wichita Kansas that refurbishes carousel horses I have a friend that works there I might be able to get you in the door. For a tour they take them all the way down to the wood and repaint them some are fiberglass so are not somewhere.

Hey Jacob, I think you're correct!! A carousel is more general - referring to anything that goes in a circle. Like a baggage carousel at an airport. Merry-go-rounds are specifically attractions that can be ridden for fun or leisure (so no matter what animals are featured, real or imaginary, they'll qualify. Or there can be no animals present like Disney's Carousel of Progress. It's a theme park attraction ergo it's for leisure. So, a carousel for leisure.😉 I think that's settled.😊

Jacob, the Merry-Go-Round from Euclid Beach Park has been restored, and is in Cleveland Ohio in the Western reserve historical society near the Cleveland art museum. They did a wonderful job of restoring the Merry-Go-Round from Euclid Beach Park in Mansfield Ohio where there is a carousel restoration museum. There is also an antique carousel in Mansfield Ohio. There is a group called The Euclid Beach nuts they gather and have parts of the Euclid Beach Park to display. Euclid Beach Park closed in 1969 I last rode the Euclid Beach at Euclid Beach when I was eight. I didn't get to ride it again until 43 years later when I was 51. It is a beautiful carousel with traditional large horses

I moved to Sandusky about 3 years ago, just a couple blocks from there. The Merry Go Round Museum was one of the first things that struck me when I moved here, and I finally decided to visit it about a year ago and I learned so much about not only the making of the mounts but also about the history of Sandusky. It's a very special city and I love living here very much.

I worked at the park and tried to knock out both the Maritime Museum and the Merry-Go-Round Museum, but was closed for the day unexpectedly, so I had to wait till I had a day off the lined up with the hours. Downtown Sandusky is really nice. Outter Sandusky is Suburban hell. If they buses ran to mee the Amtrak trains. Although where the train station is where most of the residential is-and its only 30mins walk to downtown, so it could be worse

I cant remember the name but the red white and blue themed white horse you see throughout the museum is the lead horse on their merry go round. Every carrousell or merry go round had a lead horse. ...like Cinderella's horse at DW .....nice place , havent been there for years...there is a ferry near there (same block) that will take you out in the bay and over to cedar point. Fun little side excursion.

In the Netherlands, the Music Express carnaval ride is called The Caterpillar (because of the cover) and they often have a large woolly tassle you can grab. Someone pulls it up and lowers it so it swings around and it is quite hard. But fun!

In Dutch, we call a carrousel a "turn mill" (draaimolen).

The Glen Echo carousel near Wash DC has an opera table ring machine. They do use it on some occasions.

all cattle, no matter the sex, have the ability to grow horns! farmers/ranchers often remove them when the cattle is still a baby. however, if cattle are born naturally hornless, polled, it can be like bred into a herd to produce naturally hornless cattle😊

I'm in the UK the old carousels here are very ornate and the horses had real horsehair manes and tails.I remember riding them as a child.Some were steam driven with big drive belts turning them round and wonderful steam organs.

21:12 Euclid Beach was an old amusement park that operated east of Cleveland, OH, actually East Cleveland area. It was opened from 1895 to 1969. By the 1960s, Euclid Beach was facing strong competition from Cedar Park in Sandusky and was facing financial issues causing the park to close and go bankrupt, plus they had trouble replacing their aging theme park rides.

Amazing. Think of all the artists and carvers who worked on all the horses (and other creatures) and all the thousands of people through decades that rode them. We had two or three old carousels in parks nearby ..two of which are now closed, dismantled and gone. (I know the other is still going strong but not certain about their carousel horses-if they were replaced) It makes me sad I can no longer ride on my particular favorite or take my children to experience it. They were works of art you could ride. I thought they would be around forever. Seems now a days the new replacements are silly, garish or cheaply made. I really hope none of those from closed parks were destroyed. It would be a travesty. Cool place and awesome video. Thanks so much!

In your last carousel video you mentioned wanting to know about other carousels to visit. Do know about the Albany Historic Carousel and Museum in Oregon? It has a menagerie of unusual animals and a museum and workshop where you can see vintage carousel animals and watch new ones getting carved. Some of the animals were designed by Star Wars creature designer Terry Whitlatch, and they’re all carved by volunteers. As a bonus, it’s only a half hour drive from the Enchanted Forest, and an hour from Portland’s haunted house themed bar, Raven’s Manor.

You’d think by now, that Ohio would be a state that would make your head spin !

A few things: - The "hippocampus" figures on this carousel would usually be called sea dragons by most carousel enthusiasts. There are hippocampus carousel figures, but they have the front end of a horse with the tail of a fish. Sea dragons' heads are more dog-like and their front feet are paws. - The horse with the "dead dog" is actually wearing a wolf pelt saddle. Animal pelt saddles were a common theme with some manufacturers, especially the Philadelphia Toboggan Co. (PTC). - Yes, that creature behind the saddle is a Billiken. Those impish creatures were a fad in the early 20th century and were featured on many things from that era. This one was made by the C.W. Parker factory, which made a few like that. - 'Carousel' and 'merry-go-round' mean the same thing. Opinions vary greatly on this, but according to most dictionaries as well as the National Carousel Association, the terms are interchangeable.

Love the video. That is a sea dragon, not a hippocampus. A hippocampus has hooves on the front legs and no horns. There are quite a few sea dragons that were done though. Also, it looks like all of the animals on that carousel are Herschell animals. The cow looked like a Bayol, which was a French carver. The Centaur is British as was the peacock. The Looff carousel in Spokane also has a brass ring machine. I like the horses, but the menagerie animals are my favorite.

I just read that dairy cows do have horns but the farmers have to dehorn them.. 😢 apparently its a danger for the farmers for them to have the horns.

This is going to sound nuts, but if you want to never lose those crushed pennies again, just tape the crushed penny to your toothbrush. You are never without your toothbrush, and therefore would never be without your crushed penny.
